Overview & Reviews
One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.
Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

a good family car - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe
By A Hayes - April 5 - 8:43 amThis vehicle handles great, even in heavy traffic. Plenty of leg-room in the back, even for a 62" guy. My family of four adults has gone on several long trips and been comfortable the whole time.

My friends thought it was a Lexus! - 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Ed - April 4 - 11:06 pmDid the Cash For Clunkers program; $27945 sticker, $3500 CFC, $2000 Hyundai rebate, $1100 additional dealer discount = $21345 total paid plus fees. First day driving it, my friend sees it and says "Dude, you got a Lexus?" True story. I love the way it drives. Good visibility from the drivers seat. AC works great. Smooth acceleration and shifting. More than ample cargo space. Have never had a vehicle with this many great features including AM/FM/XM/CD radio w/steering wheel mounted controls, powered drivers seat, powered moonroof, and Bluetooth equipped.

Hyundai got it right! - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe
By pmack - April 3 - 3:50 pmI researched this vehicle purchase for two months. It boiled down to the Santa Fe and Dodge Journey because of our current experiences with both Hyundai and Dodge vehicles. Did not like the looks of the smaller SUVs such as the CR-V, RAV-4, & Escape. Drove the Journey and was sorely disappointed. Hyundai had the big rebates at the time, so it was a no- brainer. Good choice! The car is easy to drive, view from the drivers seat is great, averaging 21 mpg for the first 1,000 miles. All those reports about the bad transmission - not evident! This is a well-made, very comfortable, and whisper-quiet vehicle. And you can hardly beat the warranty! Totally satisfied 2nd Hyundai owner!

New SUV/Santa Fe Owner - 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe
By sanantonio,tx - April 3 - 7:00 amDrives well. I used to be a Nissan owner, previously owned Maximas. Loved Nissan and looked at Murano but decided on Santa Fe based on the great look, amenities and price. So far I like the way it drives. Price of gas is about the same as the Maxima, as I used to buy premium gas w/the maxima.

Nine years and 150,000 miles later..... - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
By cshaw22 - April 2 - 6:16 pmI bought my Santa Fe new in 2004. After 150,000 miles, it has spent more time broken than any car I have ever owned. Since new we have replaced the crank sensor 6 times, the throw-out bearing grenaded taking the clutch with it, the radiator disintegrated, the cat converter burned out, the power steering pump shaft broke, etc, etc. The tranny has been solid as many times I was able to restart by downshifting and popping the clutch which made the tranny scream but got me to the house. I bought an extended warranty which paid for itself many times over. It rides and drives great but breaks down too often. No longer my daily driver, but still my beater as it hauls a lot of stuff, when it runs.

Nice Ride - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
By SWMan - March 29 - 10:00 amGood value. Smooth ride and much quieter than our Ford Windstar. One problem with putting it in park (started rolling a couple of times). Hyundai rep told me that they can be difficult to put in park.

Great Car for a Great Price! - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
By friend7200 - March 29 - 10:00 amThis car is a wonderful vehicle for a decent price. I recently purchased a 4 cylinder, front wheel drive base model with the utility package included. I love the car, it looks great, runs great, and is pretty good on gas. The safety ratings for this car are out the roof. This car was recommended by consumer reports for safety and value.
