Overview & Reviews
One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.
Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

Best Car ever owned - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Westpalmer - April 21 - 7:26 pmWhen I mentioned Hyundai to some guys I get the rolling eyes and the standard remarks, cheap, non performing, low ratings etc. I bought my Santa Fe new after much fighting with my hubby who wanted me to buy anything but that. Well, my car has a 155,000 miles and other than regular oil changes and scheduled maintenance (which I performed faithfully at the dealership), the only out of warranty repair I had was a new battery at 101,000 miles and a broken power steering container at 107,000 miles. Its a perfect vehicle for busy families. Its comfortable in the front and back and the back holds plenty of luggage and supplies. The money I saved was used on vacations with my family!

I LOVE my Santa Fe! - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
By davis - April 18 - 7:46 amWe bought our car about 5 months ago and have done quite a bit of light off-roading in it and it handles great, and though weve probably asked for it a few times, it hasnt left us stranded. Performs like a champ in poor conditions and I think it is an extremely comfortable ride. Not so fond of the engine rumble between 60-70 mph, but Im assuming that has something to do with either the AWD or the miles on the vehicle. Only problem weve had with it thus far is the accelerator sensor which we replaced for a relatively reasonable cost (and frankly, the same thing went out on our Kia which is two years newer the same week). Its a sexy cute little suv and reliable too :)

Excellent buy for the money. - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe
By dredd3505 - April 16 - 10:00 amAfter owning an Accent since 99 and very happy with reliability, we went and picked up the Santa Fe. Initially test drove the AWD 2.7 but found it hesitated ond pickup was a little slow. Opted to give up the AWD and upgrade to 3.5l. Very very happy with the handling and performance of this truck. The hardest part was keeping it under 55mph during the break-in period. This truck wants to be driven. Very sporty, very comfortable interior with all the creature comforts included as standard equipment. Leather/heated seats, auto temp. control, 6 speaker 6 cd changer auto dim rear view, heated side view mirrors, and on and on.

Some Regrets - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe
By kg - April 12 - 8:40 pmTraded in a Toyota van which had great ride quality and am disappointed in sante fes ride. Very stiff ride which I did not discover upon test driving. Interior is noisy, could be the leather seats rubbing together and vibrating. A/c controls are more complicated than they need to be. Engine seems to have some hesitation upon acceleration. Black interior is more dark gray than black which I like better. Anxious to see how it handles in snow. Lots of features on this SUV for the money but not sure I will keep it for the long term due to ride quality and interior noise. Interior comfort is more important to me than all the bells and whistles that this car has. Not sure it was right car for me.

After a year with my 07 Sante Fe - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
By scotts758 - April 11 - 4:56 pmI have had this SUV a year now and had no problems. Between city and highway, I average about 19.5 mpg which is acceptable with AWD. I thought it would get better mileage with the smaller engine (2.7). Sticker claimed 19 city and 24 highway. I like pretty much everything about this SUV except the seats are kind of bland. I live in Michigan and it goes thru snow with no trouble at all. This is my 2nd Hyundai. My Son drives my 2003 Sonata with 130K on it. That car was very reliable too.

Its A Dream! - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Martyjoy - April 10 - 11:50 pmI LOVE this car! The build quality is amazing, it is beautiful, and it is fun to drive. And that new car smell is sooo sweet. I am amazed at the well-thought out design details. It seems like this design group thought of everything. It is really worthy of your consideration.

First Time Hyundai Owner - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Mike - April 9 - 6:56 amLike a lot of people wrote, this is my first Hyundai. I had a 04 CRV w/ 91K miles & wanted something a little bigger w/ a V-6 for towing. I bought this Santa Fe used for $19,800 w/ 7500 miles & had them add nice leather seat and door covers for $900. Got $9000 trade for my CRV which also needed $1500 put into it so this was a deal I couldnt pass on. I drive 2/3 high & 1/3 city. Averaged 26 mpg w/ my CRV & so far Im getting 23 avearge with the SF & 3.3L engine. I drive pretty conservative, use the cruise & avoid hard braking & starts. A friends wife has the same CRV & she only averaged 20 mpg because she had terrible driving habits. What a quiet smooth drive too!!!

Changed Opinion - 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Kenny - April 8 - 9:53 amI was raised on Ford and Chevy. Naturally I was skeptical when looking at a Hyundai, but Im pleasantly surprised so far. We just bought it two days ago and so far Im happy. The price is awesome compared to other brands. It rode just like the Highlander we test drove before-hand. Plus it looks like a Lexus. WE looked at Ford Flex, Toytota Highlander, GMC Acadia, and the Mazda CX-9. This beat them all. I like the iPod interface and the blue interior lighting. All in all, Im happy with vehicle and hope it will last us a while and possibly become our daughters first car. These cars have come a long way from their days of disposable vehicles.

10,000 and Going - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
By MEBLa - April 7 - 10:00 amI have never had a vehicle more enjoyable to drive than the Santa Fe. I find the ride to be very comfortable. Noise level much lower than others I tested. This is my first Hyundai but this is not the Hyundai of the 80s and 90s that I remember. All I can say is just try it and give it a chance a try and forget about the past reputation. It has changed and glad I did.

Another Look - 6 Mos later - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Bob - April 6 - 4:23 amThis is a followup to the original review done shortly after purchase. I continue to like the peppy engine and comfort, but a major weakness has been the construction, I have never owned a vehicle that dents so easy, sheet metal as soft as soup cans. The vehicle is garaged, does not go to work with me, and is parked away from other cars. I have paid out over $200 in dent removal, with my next move to see the Hyundai rep. It has been very disappointing - and only has 3000 miles!
