Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

  • 50000 miles and NO PROBLEMS - 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe

I cant say enough about the quality and performance of this vehicle for the last 50000 miles ( and my sons Sante Fe for the last 60000 miles). Other than a minor recall for a possible rusting oxygen sensor, both vehicles have NOT had 1 problem. This vehicle is about the same size as a Lexus RX300 AND AT LESS THAN HALF THE PRICE. Yes, Hyundai have had a bad reputation over the years but this is changing rapidly---wait till the maintainance stats start coming in. Take a look--you will be surprised.

The styling is stand out, very unique!I love the all wheel drive. Power is adequate, but, It could use a little more. I know a larger V-6 is available, but, Im not willing to get less mileage.

  • Pleasantly Surprised - 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe

I bought this vehicle in 2001 just a couple months after the release. Today, I have 89,000 miles on it and I have been pleased with its performance over the last 7 years. Ive been to the dealer for only a few minor problems, the last and biggest was the power steering pump which was covered under my extended warranty. Ive been pleased by the total package; AWD, comfort, reliability, performance, etc. I know this car doesnt do any one thing extremely well, but it does everything pretty darn well. Its well-rounded and solid. My only real complaint has been the paint. I feel like the color coat is about 1mm thick. Its fading, scratches MUCH too easily, and no clear coat of which to speak.

  • Impressive......So Far - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

3.5 V8 5 speed Shiftronic. Had the SF two months now, put 4K on it. Fuel Economy not the best, with a lot of freeway only 18mpg. Went to dealer for oil change, and warranty work, Rt/Ctr air vent not working, and a piece fell off the turn signal. Also had the TSB done to stop the lurch when taking off. It seems to have worked, much smoother acceleration. So far... dealer okay. After the TSB, fuel economy did improve to almost 20 mpg.Hopefully that will continue up. Dealer said it would take the computer about 7000 miles to adjust to how we drive. Was the first new vehicle we could afford in over 15 years. Excellent value, if the reliability is as good as they say it is. Time will tell......

  • Saved my life - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

Traded in my 2002 Santa Fe for the 2007. 6 days after purchasing I was broadsided in drivers side door and front tire by a large landscape truck towing a trailer with lawn equipment going 45+mph who completely blew a red light. I was thrown into a bridge, cut out of the SUV and lived! I have every fireman I know who was at the accident stunned by my survival. They said if I didnt have that car I probably would not have lived. I suffered two broken vertebrae, broken sternum, internal bleeding and multiple contusions. Sounds bad, but could have been much worse. Needless to say, I am extremely happy with the safety features.......and it looked nice too. :)

  • 2007 Santa Fe Limited = Luxury for Less! - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

The new 2007 Santa Fe is a great value! It is loaded with standard features, has great looks inside and out, a ton of safety features, 5 star crash test ratings, super competitive pricing, and a superb warranty. Driving this vehicle is is oure joy and I look for every excuse to drive it. We test drove CR-V, Matirx, RAV4, Pilot, Element, and others. No comparison - we bought the Santa Fe!

  • Hyundai Rocks - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

I have been a hyundai owner for the last 10 years. All I drive are Hyundais. Not only are they reliable, but their warranty cant be beat. The Santa Fe comes standard with more features and upgrades than one can imagine. It also has superior crash test ratings. The interior is classy with the wood grain trim, and it feels very heavy and durable-not those cheap plastic pieces you find in isuzu or nissan. For the price, you cant go wrong!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice, but little issues.... - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

Chose the Santa Fe over Rav4 for slightly larger size and cost savings. Initially I like the vehicle, but starting to find annoying issues. Items like the lackluster highway gas mileage (21-22 avg), flat audio from radio (or speakers), and unresolvable issue with car pulling to the right drive me nuts. Turn signal clicker too loud. The door ajar beeper is way too loud and annoying, and beeps at every little thing. The tiny foot rest to the left of the break pedal is too low and out of the way to use. Drivers seat is too high for taller drivers. The spring in the front sun visor causes it to pop forward and limit adjustment.

  • Great, no hassle, reliable quality car! - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

Ive owned my car since purchase, over five years now and never one problem! Its very reliable, works great for hauling around family, stuff, and friends. Still looks good, and cleans up nicely. I was in an accident three years ago, had front-end rebuilt. And still, never one problem before or after. These are great quality vehicles.
