Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

Fun to drive, plenty of power while delivering 23-26 mpg on highway. Wet road traction is outstanding with the AWD. Rear seating has adequate foot room even with front seats all the way back.

We have not owned long but what a pleasure to drive. It is fun to drive, handles great in and out of curves. The 2.6 has all we need and the shiftronic is great as well.

  • Great car overall - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Love my new Santa Fe - no transmission issues, great gas mileage (I read reviews here before buying and was concerned but Im getting consistently around 23 for combined driving. The only complaint I have is with the infinity sound system- I also have the high-pitched whine at lower volumes that others have alluded to. It gets very annoying and the dealer has replaced my entire system to no avail. They seem to think the amp is overpowered for the speakers and causing feedback. At high volume, the sound is great. Overall fun car and Im thrilled with the value.

  • Good choice!!! - 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe

Im a lover of HONDA but tried to find something different this time. After searching and read a lot of SUVs reviews from the web and magazines I tried to ride and compare. My choice was the SF V6 GLS 4D of 2001. Very good SUV for the price. I had 8,200 miles without problems. But I heard that the warranty its not good in Puerto Rico. Its difficult to find parts and always have to deliver it from USA and takes more than 3 months...and this is not a joke. And theres a recall for this Santa Fe if nobody know it, wath this URL: http://www.autosite.com/library/nhtsa/re cltext/AS000848.asp

  • Great Except For - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe

Great vehicle-except A) no protective covering on rear bumper as in 2009 models, B) and takes a lot of effort in order to lock steering wheel (180 degree turn of steering wheel). Lastly, no daytime running lights, reason unknown.. All controls easy to see, reach and use. I do mostly city driving and have gotten about 20 mpg thus far.

We bought this for my wife after looking at and driving many others. We looked at Mitsubishi Outlander and Subaru Forester. Both did not come close to the drive, features, and fit/finish the Hyundai had. We love the features on the Limited model and didnt need the nav or dvd packages. You might find other makes that have similar features but will probably be a lot higher in price. Awesome vehicle for the price!!

  • Lots of bang for the buck - 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe

Bought this car 3 weeks ago and have put 1700 miles on it. Ive been getting 26-27 mpg combined city/hwy mileage. The base V-6 is quiet & delivers spirited acceleration in town and when passing on the highway. The 6-speaker stereo sounds good; I really like the XM satellite radio, and the USB as I can put all my music on a tiny jump drive and dont have to clutter the car with CDs. Interior is comfortable, well- appointed, and build quality is as good as Honda, Toyota, etc. Handling & ride quality are excellent, & the stock tires seem to work well in all conditions.

I bought this vehicle, in Apr 04, when it first came off lease; it had a total of 50K. In Dec I had the altinator replaced by my mechanic. I then had a problem with the vehicle stalling. It turned out that the coolant temperature sensor needed to be replaced, which ended up costing me $107 however, they did replace and reprogram two o2 sensors, since this problem was under recall. In Mar of 05, I again had a problem with the vehicle stalling. I had it towed to my mechanic for a price of $90. It turns out that the right wheel bearing needed replacing. The driver side wheel bearing has now been replaced 3 times. THere is also a burning rubber smell inside. Frustrated
