One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package.   Nice vehicle overall was my first impression since I was seeking a larger similar to previous crossover. I was wrong. Transmission bangs at low speeds and dealer wont acknowledge a problem. It is well documented and Hyundai must step up or count me out.

  Really fun to drive! Handles great in our Rocky Mountains, even in sever weather. Snow and ice is no problem and vehicle is extremly stable an easy to control. Shiftronic gear selection is great, used a lot in the mountains.

  Disappointed at mileage - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

  Seems like a pretty solid car and handles very nice. But I do not like where the heater and air conditioner controls are located. You have to take your eyes off the road to adjust because they are located so low in the compartment. For the size, the gas mileage is terrible.

  IMO this is the best SUV you can get for the money, especially if buying used. The cargo capacity is outstanding, including generous under-floor storage, the ride is very quiet, the mileage is surprisingly good (no worse than my previous Honda CR-V - a much smaller and noisier vehicle). With the Santa Fe you get the feeling of a refined, almost luxurious vehicle but with a bargain pricetag.

  i have looked and looked and have read and read and asked and asked and test drove and test drove all the others and chose the santa fe as the best suv all around and really really tried to understand why everybody said toyota rav4 no way jose santa fe beats it everywere

  is it a lemon? - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

  1.5 months of ownership (2500 miles) the car broke down on the road. Due to the lack of parts the repair took 2 weeks (3cat converters and 2 O2 sensors). Two weeks later the car broke down again this time it was a computer module and a disconected wire. While driving car home from the dealer I noticed that the engine noise was so loud the I could not hear the radio. It is now back at the dealer waiting for repair for the 3rd time.

  when gas got so hugh i started looking trade a 2003 ford explore sport trac.hyundai was my first and only place i went i test drove it and feel in love with it.i,ve had only one problem and it was my doing loose gas cap.i love it. i,ve seen the new santa fa and can,t wait till jan so i can buy the new one its great.

  Pleasantly Surprised - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe

  First purchase ever and the Santa Fe was not my first choice. However, after test driving and sitting in all areas of the vehicle, I fell in love with the comfort and ease of the car. Drives quietly, smoothly and has an awesome pick up for a 4 cyl. Gas mileage has been great. Body is sleek and classy. Two downfalls; some parts feel flimsy i.e. gas tank cover, moldings on doors below windows. Also, I have an unexplained muffled thumping sound from the cabin of the car.

  Wonderful Vehicle but Fuel Mileage? - 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe

  Bought the Santa Fe for its price, appearance an build and of today am very happy with all elements except for the fuel mileage. Small gas tank and far less than advertised mileage keeps you in the gas station way too much. Mileage in town has been 15.5- 16, and to date, the best I have been able to get highway driving has been 20.5 mpg! That is on remote two lanes at 60 MPH.

  Very roomy. Comfortable. Family Friendly. Great gas mileage. Insurance is very reasonable on this car.
