Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

Great car for the price. More bang for my bucks than the competition. Its been absolutely reliable. Not a thing to replace. OEM tires were decent. A bit much with interior noise.

  • Great Mid Suv - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

We bought our AWD Santa Fe Ltd. in June, 2007. We looked at Mistubishis, Hondas and Toyotas as comparison mid sized suvs. No comparison. When looking we didnt think we needed the third row seats. But, we have used them several times. They come in handy. They disappear when not used. Large, flat storage area available for Costco trips when the back seats are down. This vehicle is very quiet. Hard to hear the engine running. Many user friendly features. Very well finished, attractive interior. Amazing price for what you get. Extra long warranty means peace of mind. After six months and 5,000 miles nothing has gone wrong. Everything works fine. Highly recommend this vehicle.

  • Good car overall but a major annoying issue for me - 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

In this review I want to focus just on the one big problem I have with this car which I wish I had known about before making the purchase. In general I agree with other reviewers that this is a good car overall and a good value. However buyers should know that you cannot just sit and listen to the very excellent sound system in this vehicle without running the engine! If you do you will get a loud beep sound every two minutes or so warning that you are discharging the battery. This beep tone is just as loud as the music so you cannot ignore it. So You cannot enjoy your music in this vehicle knowing you will be hearing this annoying beep every two minutes or so. The dealer just told me that thats so that you dont discharge the battery which of course is important. However why couldnt they have designed this car so that something like just listening to the radio could be done without having to run the engine? For someone like me who likes to sit in their vehicle and listen to their music on that excellent sound system this is a huge issue and unacceptable. If I had known this advance I would never hit purchased this vehicle. I am NOT looking forward to the next five years of this!

  • Just the mileage is poor - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

I actually think that Hyundai must have determined its city mileage based on suburban driving. Living downtown, continuously stopping and starting, I am getting 15.3 regardless of the kind of fuel I use. I am also a very relaxed driver.

  • Truly Delightful - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

I bought my Santa fe in the middle of January and I am fully satisfied. It is a dream to drive, smooth, comfortable, powerful. I have not yet experienced the bad shift from 1st to 2nd. I am in Cdn and we have a slightly larger gallon, so bear that in mind when I say I get 22.5 miles per gallon in the city. If I am real careful and gentle about how I drive. I also looked at everything else out there before I bought and just loved all that the S.Fe had to offer and how smooth it was.

  • My Santa Fe - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

I picked up my Santa Fe in July of 2003. I purchased a 2002 Demo,3600 miles, silver in color, that was a 4 cylinder automatic. The funny thing is that I wasnt in the market to trade in my 2000 Sonata GLSV6 and I certainly didnt want a 4 cyl SantaFe. After my test drive I was hooked on this little beauty. The dealership gave me an awesome deal and I am VERY HAPPY!

  • Great SUV except MPG - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

Great for the money. Great in the snow. Sound system, heated seats, moon roof and added remote start with alarm are terriffic. Power seats would be helpful and/or ability to extend leg room of drvers seat. I m not that tall but uncomfortable on long distances. Gas milage sucks much less than advertized!

Sold my beloved 94 MB and bought the Santa Fe Limited. Took very little time to get over the name issue. I purchased based on research and friends with personal experience owning various models of Hyundai. Lots of bang for the buck and the XM radio with multi-CD/MP3 is wonderful. Mileage is as advertised - we all wish for more. As of now - absolutely no complaints.

  • 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 2.7L 4A - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

All in all a nice vehicle. The GLS is a smooth ride, and offers a fair amount of luxury at a competitive price. Its spacious cabin provides plenty of room and added compartments for the person looking for the mid-size utility vehicle. Add to that, an assortment of models and options available for those looking to customize their vehicle. Its a bit slow and sluggish on acceleration and could definitely stand to gain more horsepower. However, once up to speed it performs just fine. Id rate the car an 8 out of 10.
