Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

  • I agree...transmission problems - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

This vehicle has the absolute worse transmission I have ever experienced. It is defective between 1st and 2nd gear. What makes this more aggravating is that the dealers "acts" like nothing is wrong when the mechanics clearly experience the problem. They "allege" all the codes check out but this transmission has a slippage problem. I think Hyundai is out to screw the consumer and knows about his problem but will not acknowledge it. I am hoping that the government investigates some of the transmission complaints. This is a horrible vehicle.

This SUV is fun to drive. We have received excellent gas mileage for an SUV. We average 24 on the highway and 21 in town. The only downfall of owning the Santa Fe is that now we see them everywhere! We liked being one in a handful of customers who knew about this secret.

Love this truck! It is stylish, reliable and peppy. I have had no problems with it during the 1 1/2 years Ive owned it. Some recalls on parts but the dealership called me to inform me and repaired the truck in hours. Had a fender bender and wasnt taken for a bunch of money to replace damaged parts.

We love it. We are expecting our first child in June and needed a bigger and safer vehicle. I love the style and the interior of this SUV. Theres plenty of room up front and in back for tall and large people. So far after every baby shower weve had plenty of room for our gifts. The dash and other components on the inside look very fancy and are located in perfect positions. We love this car.

  • Great vehicle for the money! - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Having put almost 7000 miles on the Santa Fe in 4 months, I have to say that I am very satisfied. Overall a great vehicle. It is comfortable, spacious, and tows anything I can put in a 4x8 utility trailer. Gas mileage has been about 18 mpg with mostly suburban driving, but I leave it idling a lot for my daughter in the summer. Highway is about 22, but would be a lot better if I could keep it below 80. My wife frequently gets 24-26 on the interstate when she drives. Power is adequate, but not breathtaking. Overall the best value in the 20K SUV price range.

  • Great suv for the price. - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

I was about to buy Nissan Rogue, but after I drove it found it underpowered. I love and look forward to driving it. Easy to maneuver, small turning circle. I have 1,300 miles, 2/3 highway, with 18.5 to 19.5 mpg average. Sticker price was $25,000 including destination charge. Got it for $18,950. Love the underfloor storage. Great looks inside and out. Blue interior lights are awesome.

  • A great SUV....Er...Crossover...Er..Car. - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

This is one of the nicest vehicles I have ever driven. As far as AWD SUVs it is the nicest. I have driven and owned various SUVs and this is by far the best. Jeep, Honda, Toyota dont match it. I am hoping though that they are right about the improved quality and it lasts me for awhile. Though, I have had Hondas that were junk. I guess you just have to get lucky.

  • I didnt pick the colour - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

Needed a new vehicle and this seems the most reasonable choice. Didnt really like the style, and my wife picked the colour, but am very happy on how this vehicle handles. It is comfortable and fun to drive.

  • No need to look any further. - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

Having been a former Service Manager for Dodge for 16 years, I am very picky about the vehicles I drive. Extensive researched prooved far and above that this is the best in its class for the money (and then some). Never dreamed I would own a Hyundai, but their quality has drastically improved over ther years- warranty cant be beat- great overall vehicle!
