Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

  • A true gem - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

I bought the SUV in July after a month of researching the best suv for my money. I tested quite a few but my sights were always going back to the Santa Fe. The research was impressive but nothing like actually siting in one and going out for a drive. The handling, smoothness, features, crash worthyness and looks combined with one huge warranty made my decision a no brainer. Its quite amazing how much one can fill up the cargo area with. Im still amazed of how wonderful this vehicle is. With the added feature of the shiftronic makes driving fun. Took it on a long trip and it performed like a gem, impressive mileage. Truly an outstanding SUV.

  • Santa Fe - 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

Purchased my car May10. Currently has 10,000 miles on it. There is much to like about the Santa Fe. It handles well in the snow and even with record snow fall I have not had any problems getting around. Other things I like - great acceleration, easy to manuveur in tight spots like parking ramps. Things that are disappointig - interior is nicely styled but scratches easily, carpeting is cheap, bigget disappointment is gas mileage. Should be getting an average of 22 mpg (according to Hyundai web site) but I am getting 14-15 mpg average. Brought to dealer they checked it out and said it is running as it should so this is what my mileage will be.

  • Love New Ride - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

I love my new Santa Fe. It has a very smooth & quiet ride. The interior is what sold my wife, she didnt even want to test drive the Outlander after seeing the Santa Fe. I purchased a SE Dark Cherry w/beige interior and love the look. I have 400 miles on it so far and have averaged 22 mpg mixed suburban and highway and 25 on country back roads. I would recommend the Santa Fe to everyone.

  • Love my 2016 Limited Ultimate AWD! - 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

"We traded in our 2014 Santa Fe Sport for the bigger 2016 Santa Fe. We love the Ultimate package.. it has everything we could ever want...with bang for the buck.We shopped for the Kia Sorento, Honda Pilot,Nissan Pathfinder and going back to Hyundai was a no brainer. We spent about 10k less than similar cars with similar packages. Owning a Hyundai today is definitely not owning a Hyundai 10 years ago..they are doing an awesome job of keeping up with the competition. I mostly drive around my kids with it..they absolutely love the captains chairs.Going grocery shopping is easy with the automatic gate lift. The navigation is easy to use. Having the AWD has been awesome in the snow. As for reliability.. My old 2014 Santa Fe Sport only went to the dealer for oil changes..never had a problem with it.. so I am very confident with this one. We have gotten many compliments on its looks.

  • A real DAH vehicle - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

After owning 15 new domestic vehicles I purchased this DAH. Bad mistake. No interior lights when door is open. Several blind spots Poor fuel mileage not close to sticker Wiper blakes freeze in the wells ice builds up and wipers fall off road noise so loud I am not able to play radio. I called customer service several times and was given a file number and name to call. every time I called I was given a new contact person (5 times) Dealer said the reason for poor fuel mileage was that i was not using the right oil. I had them cahange the oil and could not see any change.

  • A great vehicle for us - 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

Bought this one at 125K km, now has 205K. Weve replaced only wear parts so far. Its a little underpowered for my liking but it did pull a u-haul trailer through the Canadian Rockies just fine.

  • One Hot SUV - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

This is one HOT SUV! I test drove the Jeep Liberty first and then the Sante Fe. As soon as we took off for the test drive, my wife and I looked at each other and said this in the one! The 3.5L is powerful and much faster than the 2.7L. The back seat is very roomy (much more than the Liberty). Headroom is not too bad either. Im 64" and have plenty of room. Handling is excellent! The Sante Fe is definitely a head turner.

  • Hyundai Warranty and Brake Quality - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

I have a 2002 Santa Fe GlS with less than 30,000 miles and had to get 3 brake jobs and 4 new rotors for the SUV. Hyundai says it is the way I drive but my Toyota Highlander is driven more, gets better gas milage and pick up and has no issue with its brakes. Each change is $700 to $1200 dollars. Add that to the price of the car every 9,000 miles and see if you are happy. My engine is now sounding as if the lifters are going which they can not hear untill the warranty is over. My radio display is gone, Just missed warranty! Nothing was covered by the "warranty" which they tell you to read the fine print! GOODBY HYUNDAI AND WELCOME BACK TOYOTA!!!!!! AT LEAST THEY HAVE PROVEN QUALITY.

  • Honda Girl Turned Hyundai - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

My first non-Honda car and I am impressed. This SUV appears to have a smaller trunk space than I am used to but not a show stopper. There are a/c vents on the sides of the door in the back, which causes the air to circulate better than being on the back of the center console for the back seaters. The ride is smooth and I dont hear the thumping sound that others are complaining about. I do have a concern with the exterior door handles as they seem like they arent too sturdy. All in all, I am very pleased!
