Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

I have owned this car for over a month now. I have had Zero problems with this vehicle and am getting 4 miles more a gallon than the sticker said. My family loves it. I can keep up with freway traffic and tow my waverunner with ease. I had a great experience at the dealership, paid under invoice and feel great about my investment. I would stongly recomend this suv.

The car was presented at the dealership in flawless shape (except for a burnt out map light bulb). I have purchased new Toyotas and Hondas over the years and the fit and finish on my Santa Fe is just as good and the price cant compare. Thousands cheaper than the comparable Japanese models and a bit more stylish by my taste. The 3.5 liter engine has more than enough power and the ride is firm and comfortable. This car is the best in its size class.

I had never heard of Hyundai, but thought I would take a chance and test drive one. I knew that this was the SUV for me when I pulled into my drive way. It is as if the interior of the car is hugging you. You feel warmand cozy. I love everything about my Hyundai and I am looking forward to buying another one in the future.

Engine light kept coming on. Returned to dealer 6 times. Dealer kept saying they found the problem. Within two weeks engine light came on again. Once would not start at all. Then the oil light started to come on and finally it started to heat up. All this with 22000 miles. Finally the dealer admitted they could not repair the car and they had problems with the four - cylindar engine.

  • Noisy and in shop way too often - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe

I bought this car after a two hour test drive. Within a week I knew I had made a mistake. This vehicle has such terrible road noise. When it rains no one in the back can hear a word you are saying in the front. My Hyundai has also been in the shop at least 8 times over the past two years for different belts, ignition system problems, and wiring harness defects. My husband has a Hyundai as well and it is in the shop way more often than any other new car we have ever owned. I will never buy another Hyundai as long as I can drive.

  • Sunroof caution - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

We were not informed that consumers lose about 2 inches of headroom with the factory installed sunroof. It is also leaks when we go through touchless car washes. It has been replaced and still leaks. The Hyundai regional rep. told us that all sunroofs leak.

  • I WILL NEVER BUY HYUNDAI AGAIN!!!!! - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Having previously owned a 2003 Santa Fe, when the new 2007 came out I had to have one. It was the biggest mistake I have ever made. Hyundai Motor America has been completely uncooperative in regards to warranty issues. Hyundai may offer a great warranty but dont be fooled. I was sold a lemon! The car has been in the shop EIGHT times since we bought it nine months ago. The car had a faulty engine coil, misfiring in the 5th cylinder (4 times), entire fuel system malfunction, improperly installed computer software and finally two bad oxygen sensors. We are so fed up that we are now selling the 2003 because we just need to cut all ties with Hyundai. Buyer beware!

  • Lot of Bang for the money - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

I researched the market for over two months, test drive the Mazda Tribute and Ford Escape and found ride to be too stiff; was leaning towards Toyota or Honda, but the Warranty on the Hyundai was very appealing so I drove all three of the above. After test drive I came away convinced that the Hyundai Santa Fe was a runaway winner; I have not regrets about my choice. Great vehicle, and a great value for the money.

A very nice car that is very comfortable to ride in for long distances. Does great in snow and rain and has good traction on ice.

Looked at the Toyota Highlander and the Sante Fe is a much nicer vehicle with more features at a much lower cost. The interior of this vehicle is outstanding and I would recommend it to anyone interested in a Mid Size SUV. I did not purchase the AWD but wish I would have.
