Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

  • Great family and work suv - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

The SantaFe is a great reliable SUV to have. Its a great SUV for families and for work. It not the greatest for fuel economy, but it isnt bad compared to most other SUVs. The SantaFe is amazing for storage for vacation, tools, and supplies that you need to move because of the back seat that folds down to the ground. Buy this SUV and you will love it so much.

  • Good at start but not Long Term - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

We bought this after owning a CRV. We really liked having the V6, the ride quality, and how smooth of a ride it gave off. We were also impressed that the V6 gave us very similar gas mileage as the CRV but with so much more power. However the love affair began wearing off this past year. We had the Check Engine light come on 3 times and then the Passenger Seat Airbag light began going crazy. Everytime our dealership gave us crap answers that something needed reset, recalibrate, or as in the case of the seat could not replicate. Nothing ever got fixed. So in the end between the dealership experience(only Hyundai dealer in area) & the car issues this was probably our one and only Hynudai.

  • Second go-around...not bad.. - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

Just bought my second Santa Fe; I traded in my 2002 GLS Model. Very pleased with how much smoother the 2007 rides and how much bigger it is in size; third row seat is a nice option. A little disappointed with the gas mileage, though; its not anywhere near whats listed, but Im still breaking it in. I think Hyundai makes a great product overall--never had a problem with my 2002.

  • Let me down.... - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

... at the worst possible time... in the worst possible way. I chose this car mainly on Hyundais good reputation and was convinced it would be durable. These are important things when choosing a used vehicle. 5 months and 6K miles in, the transmission went and cost me 3.5K to fix. Not what I had in mind when I spent $11,5K on it! Ive had good ownership experience of VWs, Toyotas and Hondas in the past and while you have to maintain and keep up, none of them let me down, so the Hyundai is on its own. If youre considering it as an alternative to a CRV/RAV4/ Highlander/Pilot/Forester dont, this car cannot pretend to be anywhere near of these. If you really must pay $2K for a dealer warranty

  • My Santa Fe - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

I have had my Santa Fe for (4) years and overall it has been a good experience. The vehicle has been reliable with no major maintenance work required. It is fun to drive and just as stylish as some of the more expensive SUVs on the road. My ownership experience was always very good when I dealt with Arnold Hyundai never had a problem. I went to Suburban Hyundai in Troy, MI after Arnold Hyundai moved far from my home. I do not like that dealership, so back to Arnold (Victory) Hyundai I go!

  • I wish I had another one! - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe

My husband drives it most of the time. Now I want to buy my own because I want to drive it too. That says it all. Its the best quality for the value out there.

  • wait a couple of years - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

It depends on ones perception on what you want in a suv This is not a touring car as built. It;s more a commuter or running around car. Great design, well built, solid. smooth transmission and engine, plenty of pop on the high end. Lacks power on the low end, mainly because of gearing. Well laid out controls. Hyundai tryed to think of everthing possible to make this a good suv. It falls short in these areas. center coucil to high to short.causes arm fatigue and elbow soreness. arm rests not padded enough. front buckets to stiff. suspension to stiff and has a truck like ride on uneven pavement. some body roll on corners.good on highway but seems to float a bit.needs more floor sound proofing.

  • New Car conks out - 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

2009 Sante Fe conked out at the exit ramp. It was a bit dangerous since the ramp had a blind curve. I stopped at the light at the end of the ramp, when it turned green and depressed gas pedal, the car just died. During this time I tried starting it off and on, no luck. After 45 min tow truck came, then I tried to start again and started right up. Ive traded it in, I couldnt trust it anymore. I do travel a lot, and alone sometimes, so I dont want to be on the side of the road broke down. The dealership couldnt find anything wrong with it. If it werent for that one breakdown incident, I loved the vehicle. Too paranoid it would break down again. limited back view
