Overview & Reviews
Entering its second year of production, the Santa Fe gets four-wheel disc brakes as standard equipment as well as an optional upgraded stereo system. In May 2002, Hyundai responds to customer requests and makes a power sunroof optional for GLS and LX models. Besides that, all models benefit from midyear interior upgrades, among these larger air conditioning vents; a center stack-mounted clock; illumination for the power window buttons and glovebox; chrome accents; ISOFIX child-seat anchors for the outboard rear seating positions and an improved rear-seat recliner and folding mechanism. In September 2002, Hyundai announced that it had misstated the horsepower ratings for all of the models in its lineup -- the Santa Fe's 2.4-liter four-cylinder is now rated for 138 hp and its V6 is now at 173 hp. To compensate, the company is offering Hyundai owners (of 2000 models and newer) three options: 10 years of roadside assistance, 6-year/72,000-mile basic warranty coverage or 12-year/120,000-mile powertrain coverage.
- Relatively inexpensive price, super warranty, roomy interior.
- Unimpressive four-wheeling capability, underwhelming powertrain performance.

Less Money More Features - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Joyce Baby Rey - November 14 - 7:43 pmI have Ford Explorer XLT and discovered that Santa is more comfy, lot of features, less fuel consumption and affordable. Its truly a "peoples chute" because of its competitive price. No one could beat 100,000 miles or 10-years warranty...cmon....I Love my Santa Fe.

Great value and quality - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
By somaflo - November 13 - 10:00 amWe bought this 2002 GLS AWD last month with 53,000 miles on it. We had a Honda CRV before this. We like the power and comfort. Hyundai makes a great car for the money. Our other car is a 2001 Hyundai xg300, we have had very good luck with it. The dealers dont always want to honor the warranty but a call to Hyundai usually soles any problem. Would reccomend this vehicle over a Toyota or Honda they are overrated and overpriced!

A Great Value - a Great Vehicle - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Golfadk77 - October 1 - 10:00 amI cant see why one would buy any other mid size SUV. With the tremendous warranty, its a great deal on a good car. The only downside was that we got one with a four which is does not give adequate pick up power, especially when the Air is on.

One of the best choices - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
By bamster - August 23 - 10:00 amgood performance so far. have driven it around 2000 miles since getting it mid- august. manu-matic adds nice touch. love the fact that it has everything i need already, and the warranty makes me worry-free for the next 118,000 miles. glad that hyundai was honest enough to tell us owners about the lower hp rating, plus the additional warranty they provided. theyve earned my respect.

GREAT car for the price - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Tony in Northeast PA - August 23 - 10:00 amIve only owned Honda cars in the past, but I decided to take a chance on the "new and improved" Hydundai back by the great warrantly. Im glad I did. This is a great car, especially for the price. Lots of room for the family, lots of features. I had to take it back to have some chipped paint fixed and Hyundai fixed it right away for free. If the car continues to run well and the warranty is as good as it sounds, I may be a convert from Honda to Hyundai!

Love - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Vanessa Carpenter - August 15 - 10:41 amI love my Hyundai Santa Fe I have had it for about 5 months so far and never have had a problem. I hesitated when buying because I didnt know much about them but I can say I am very glad I choose it. I know all cars have there ups and downs and there are good ones and bad ones. I have to say I got luck I purchased my 2002 with 123,000 miles on it and she has ran perfect for me. One thing I would like to give this car props on is the four wheel drive I go any where in the snow I live in Ohio.

So glad we purchased the Santa Fe - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Joseph Gentile - July 30 - 10:00 amWe went with a friend to the dealership not expecting for us to buy a new car. We were so impressed with the Santa Fe that we ended up buying one to. We got it in blue and our friends got it in white. Unfourtuntly, when the car was 2 mths old my wife got rear ended boy this car doesnt only ride great it also takes a hit well. She was hit real hard the other car had major damage and ours just minor. We have 25,000 mile on it now and it still runs like when we took it out of show room. We havent even brought it back for service all i do is change the oil on a regular basis.
