Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

  • Very Happy - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

After taking about 6 months to decide on what SUV to buy I finally decided to get a Santa Fe. It is a very solid built SUV with attractive styling inside and out. There is plenty of room in the second row for 2 adults to sit comfortably and the second row seat backs recline which adds more comfort. The front seats are great with plenty of leg room and have a plush feeling. Dash design is nice and the blue lighting is not as distracting as a green or a red. Over all I think that Hyundai is well on there way to pass Toyota in quality and price.

  • A fantastic makeover! - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Found that we needed a vehicle to replace our aging mini-van, and since we live where it does snow, wanted something with either all wheel or 4 wheel drive. Compared a Honda CR-V and the RAV4 with the Hyundai Santa Fe. It ended up being no contest! The Hyundai in the SE trim level is loaded with safety/convience/comfort items. We also qualified for special financing, which clinched the deal. The redesign of the Santa Fe has created a beautiful looking vehicle both inside and out. I had a guy think it was a Lexus! And if youre considering a SUV check out the Santa Fe, especially in the Dark Cherry Red (which is what we got), its stunning.

This is my Second Santa Fe, having owned a 2003 previously. Overall, this is a great vehicle, having really no major issues over the past almost 5 years. Dont know if Ill own another one due to the overall cost of owning the newer models, but Id recommend this vehicle to anybody. I get questions about it all of the time. Im very happy with this vehicle.

  • Decent!!! - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

I bought my car on April 23rd, 2003, after months of wanting it. I only qualified for a lease, as I was upside down in a crappy Sentra. I absolutely love love love my Sante Fe. I wish I could have gotten a moon roof, though.

  • My second Santa Fe - 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

My first Santa Fe was a 2011 GLS, which someone hit while hubby was driving. Santa Fe was totaled, but the husband lived to tell the story. It rolled to one side, skidding a hundred feet before crashing into a median cement block directly in front of the police department. It did its job well for a direct high speed hit to the side. Which is why I bought ... My second Santa Fe, a 2012 - well worth its weight in gold, and came with a couple new features the 11 did not have. I searched long and hard and compared economy SUVs, and for the price and warranty, you cant beat this vehicle. Even used, Hyundai happily replaced a faulty door panel without hesitation. Excellent Customer serv

  • Bad gas mileage - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

My driving experience is the SUV handles fine, the check engine light has been on since two weeks after purchase have never had time to take it in. Not a vehicle for commute the gas mileage sucks for this I go through over $100 a week in gas. It handles well in snow though I bought it for that very reason and I am thankful that works well.

  • No surprise - Korean vehicle done well!! - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

Now has over 5K miles. Still very tight (no squeaks/rattles). Still, very impressed with the build quality. I took a leap of faith and, so far, it has worn well. It drives/rides very smooth (especially w/passengers and at highway speeds). It has a full-size feel (more like a car than a truck, which makes sense since its based on the car platform - Sonata). Getting around 20 mpg w/3.5L engine (75% highway). One thing I have noticed, the climate control compressor is always engaged (unless you completely shut off the whole system). This is why mileage is not better. Maybe would add another 15% mpg (might be significant for some). All in all, if resale holds (which it has, so far), a very good value.
