Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

Its a bit of a putt-putt but it works for me. Acceleration is slowed, nothing like when new but it still works. I usually work close to home so most of my mileage is recreational. Thats cool. Handles really well in bad weather, takes a while to warm up but AWD pulls out of snow and ice with hardly a grunt. Ive seen this vehicle without AWD almost stuck. The extra height helps me to see more, and makes me feel safer, its a smaller but not the smallest sized SUV.

We went through the process of driving all the crossovers that compete with the Santa Fe but went with Santa Fe because of a few facts that are undisputed... Of all the Crossovers we test drove (GMC Acadia, Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, Chevy Traverse, Ford Explorer and of course the Santa Fe!) this one by far had the best color choices, best warranty, top of the line safetly features and for us ranked as good as the Pilot in Driveability. It was also the most bang for your buck by a wide margin. We purchased the LTD Ultimate with the Tech package. This is similar to all the most premium models for other brands. I would say that we paid an average of $7000 less than the others which is unbelievable. The Pilot was $10,000 more for the same features! I love the sunroof that goes all the way to the 3rd row! I have never seen something like this before! I also think that Hyundai Santa Fe is by far the best looking crossover and beats all of its competitors in looks as well!

Best balance of performance, quality and value. Previous SUV was a 92 Explorer XLT (great vehicle, still own it, just getting too old to be a daily driver) and the Santa Fe has performed as well as the Explorer did at the same tasks with additional comfort and economy - for less money!

  • this is my 2nd Santa Fe & I love it! - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

I wish the DVD controls were located somewhere else.they get kicked alot. the light interior looks nice, but is not kid-friendly.I really love my Santa Fe.The 07 is so much more luxurious than my previous 01.I like my Santa Fe better than my husbands BMW 325i. We always take my Santa Fe on roadtrips, not the BMW. I love the space, the drive, the warranty, the look & I feel smart driving it. Its a good bang for the buck! Theres only 1 Santa Fe to choose: Limited & fully loaded. i didnt like the bare bones models. Bite the bullet & spend the $32K for the top of the line Santa Fe.

We have had our Santa Fe since August, 2001. There is about 16,000 miles on it. Absolutly no problems. Still drives like new. Performance and comfort is still there. We absolutly love it. We drove the Izusu Rodoe & Toyota Rav4, the Hyundai Sante Fe, won hands down. And the Hyundai looks almost like the Lexus utility vehicle.

The Sante Fe drives just like a car. I can manuever it like I did with my previous compact car. I was surprised at the fact that i didnt have to "adjust" to driving a larger vehicle.

  • Has anyone gone in snad? Help! - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

Overall, I think my new car is great. I have 2500 miles and all is well. been through a few snowstorms and the car handled great. One problem: One reason that I purchased a 4wd vehicle was because I live on Cape Cod, MA in the summer. The dealership told me that I should have no trouble going on Cape beaches with the 4wd system. I took it out today and I did not feel comfortable at all. I felt that I was going to get stuck the entire time. I didnt get stuck, however, is this how 4wd is supposed to feel? The engine also smellled funny when I got back on hard pavement, like it had been working too hard.

Santa fe for v6 and size of SUV has great response timing and pickup. Very reliable on open road and quick response to in city driving. Fun to drive and reliable. on top of all that, affordable!

  • Dont buy this car - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

My husband and I bought the 2008 Hyundai in September. We put 10,000 down on it. Well, It has had nothing but problems. The transmission slips, there is a rattling noise coming from the engine, the wheel alignment does not stay in place, gas mileage sucked, and when the kids hooked up there dvd systems or game systems in the back it would cause a frying sound thru the speakers. We traded it in today and lost almost 18,000 on it. We lost all of our investment and only had it 6 months. We bought this 2008 as a demo with low miles. I will never look at or consider buying another one.
