Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

  • So far, so good. - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Purchased this SUV after driving an Infinity G-35x and missing the roominess from my previous SUV. Also, Hyundai was recommended by other friends who have one. Only issue so far is pulling to left. After two alignments, seems to be okay. Although steering is pretty sensitive. Like all the features, styling, performance (little sluggish in shifting between 1st & 2nd gear) so far, after 2000 miles. CD player is only 1 CD capacity?? If reliability holds up, seems like a very good vehicle for the price.

If it was just me, I would keep it and drive it into the ground! I also love the bright red color!

The only issue is I wish it had a little more horse power like the CR-V.

This is a great car fun to drive - good on fuel economy for an SUV, but can be slow on pick up speed - very comfortable to drive and plenty of room in the back for traveling, shopping, etc. I have had no problems with the vehicle. If I could change one thing it would be the rear door it opens up instead of out and if your hands are full it can be a problem closing the door, but @ so much less $$$$ than the Toyota I came from. I am very happy w/my Santa Fe.

  • I will never purchase Hyundai again - 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe

I bought my 2001 Santa Fe used at a Toyota dealership, and within three weeks of purchase I had replaced almost 3000 worth of computer parts, as well as the spark plugs. The dealership was full of liars and crooks, but most importantly this car turned out to be the biggest mistake of my life. My transmission blew in late 2008 and cost me almost 4500 to fix, and I only fixed it because I still owe so much on the vehicle and the dealership did nothing to help me. As soon as I can get rid of this car, I will do so and I will never purchase another Hyundai again. Its a smooth ride and the seat is comfortable, but neither does me any good when the car almost never runs.

  • great suv for the money - 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe

Wife loves it. smooth quiet ride. GLS model with only bluetooth option. Pearl White color is very cool. Great car for family and for taking trips. With the cash for clunkers and factory rebate and dealer savings, cant go wrong with purchasing this vehicle.

I Live in all 4-seasons, have 4 vehicles (2-trucks, and 2-family movers). I have purchased two Hyundias with the 3.3 V-6, FWD, and love them both. Bang for the buck, Hyundia gives your George Washingtons a smile. If i were a salesman Id sell this like sleds on a snow day without school. Look at the competition, vote with your dollar, and tomorrow youll be happy in your Sante Fe...If you buy the 3.3 v-6, cuz were American and need the power! :)LoL

  • 2008 Limited FWD 25k mile update - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

So far I have nothing but praise for this car. Its my wifes daily driver, and with 80% city she averages 20-21 mpg. I do my own service and run synthetic oil which helps a little. Have averaged 27 mpg on a trip, but mpg drops off above 75 mph to around 23 or so. The oem tires (bridgestone dueler h/l) lasting surprisingly well with pressure checks and rotation, expecting to get 35k-40k on the set. No problems, and knock on wood, not even a single trip to the dealership. It still drives and sounds just like it did on the way home from the dealership. 3rd row seat is tolerable for an adult for a short trip, but you wouldnt want to stick your grandmother back there. Great car!

  • Had to replace sensor - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

My Santa Fe came from the factory with a bad sensor in the gas tank which caused the check engine light to come on less than two days after I had it. Needless to say... that was a bit discouraging. However, I think it was just "one of those things" and I was the "lucky" person to get that particular vehicle. Other than that, I LOVE my Santa Fe! The 3.5 has GREAT pickup, although the gas pedal is VERY touchy. (Im not exagerating about this!) The ride is really quiet and extremely solid! The radio reception seems to be a bit below par, but not terrible. I notice people turning their heads all of the time, straining to see what kind of vehicle it is.
