Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

  • Wish my wife would let me drive it! - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

SO far so good. I wish I got a chance to drive it more. My wife loves the SUV feel of sitting high and yet it is easier to get into than many other SUVs. It drives tight like a sports car and gives you a great feel for control. From what I could tell in my research, it was definitely the best buy for the money. 0% financing and many options added to help seal the deal. My best automotive purchase experience to date.

    Good Performance and Style.

  • Dangerous Steering - 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

I bought this vehicle a week ago and have to advise you to not purchase until Hyundai has a solution to the steering problem. The car doesnt track straight at all, darting left and then right requiring constant and exhausting corrections to the wheel. The wheel doesnt center itself. To explain what I mean, while going around a curve if you remove your hands from the wheel, the car continues to go around the curve. It never makes any movement to center the wheel and track straight. At highway speeds I have never felt less in control. Even with two hands on the wheel driving for more than 15 minutes is a frightening and tiring experience.

  • My 2013 Santa Fe Sport, FWD w/leather - 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

We have owned a new 2013 Santa Fe Sport for one month now. We have traveled from Chicago to Mackinac down thru Wisconsin and a week later from Chicago to Branson, Memphis, Nashville, Gatlinburg and back. Approx. 3000miles all together. On the low side we got 22.5 mpg to 28 mpg on the high side. This was done in moderately hilly terrain and a tight new engine. My wife loves it. The standard 4 cyl engine has good pep and 6 speed transmission works well. A VERY quiet ride for a SUV. Leather seats are comfortable with good adjustments. Handles and brakes with good feel. While the steering is on the light side with not a lot of feel, I personally wouldnt call it dangerous.

  • Best Car for the Money! - 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe

I recently purchased a Santa Fe Limited AWD in Black Forest Green with the beige leather interior. It looks and runs like a dream. I considered the Toyota Highlander Limited and the Murano SL with leather, but those cars cost several thousand dollars more, get worse gas mileage, and the Santa Fe is their equal, if not better, in every way-- looks, ride, handling, etc. With the V6 it has excellent acceleration, and the electronics-- Bluetooth, satellite radio, HomeLink, etc. all work flawlessly. I have been waiting for something to rattle, break or go wrong, but the car is absolutely solid. I am very pleased with my purchase, and strongly recommend the Santa Fe.

  • So glad we purchased the Santa Fe - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe

We went with a friend to the dealership not expecting for us to buy a new car. We were so impressed with the Santa Fe that we ended up buying one to. We got it in blue and our friends got it in white. Unfourtuntly, when the car was 2 mths old my wife got rear ended boy this car doesnt only ride great it also takes a hit well. She was hit real hard the other car had major damage and ours just minor. We have 25,000 mile on it now and it still runs like when we took it out of show room. We havent even brought it back for service all i do is change the oil on a regular basis.

For quality, cost, performance and warranty, the Santa Fe may be the best car I have ever purchased (out of 15 over my lifetime).

  • Mostly Great - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

The acceleration is smooth and if done properly, feels as if you are gliding in an airplane. No complaints with the noise level. It handles very well in ice and snow with proper driving skills. The downsides are that the gas mileage is not as good as I had hoped, the front seats seam to have a lot of give as you are entering and exiting the car (and I am not a heavy person). I have two chips in the windshield within a year vs. no chips in the windshield of my old Dodge Caravan after taking many heavy hits, and driving the same routes as I do in the Hyundai.

  • Poor Workmanship - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe

I was thrilled with my Hyundai until the clear coat started peeling off the hatch door and the drivers side mirror as well as rusting on the drivers side mirror. The wiper arms are rusting as well and I have just over 60,000 miles on my car. To me this is lousy workmanship. most of the time my car was parked in a garage at work so was only in the elements for limited amount of time. I have never owned a car in which the clear coat peeled. My daughter who also has a Hyundai is having the same problem. I did some research and found out that even some of the 2012 models had the same problem. This is why I would never buy another Hyundai product.
