Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

  • Awesome fun! - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

What a fun car! I needed something bigger than my Accord to haul bricks, potting soil and stuff for my townehouse. Being a single (older) female, I liked the enclosed SUV (as opposed to an open bed truck) to keep my haul locked up and enclosed. Safety is big with me. Also sitting up high, the visibility on the road is much better. Seems like everyone in California has an SUV or truck. The Santa Fe is so much fun to drive. And its comfortable and easy to handle and park. My 82-year-old mother and I just went to Arizona for a trip and got caught in a snowstorm in the mountains. No problem. We just zipped down the road w

I never thought we would consider buying a Hyundai product. On the way to look at Toyotas we test drove a loaded 2005. Good ride, good standard equipment. good build quality and best warranty as well as saving thousands over the competition. Best Buy!

  • Great Vehicle, So far... - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

Purchased a 2004, 3.5, GLS AWD Santa Fe about a week ago. Im sure we made the right choice. We looked at Ford Escape, Honda CRV, Tribute and RAV 4. None rode as comfortably. Very smooth handling. Feels solid, too. A few minor quibbles about the interior--the armrest is too low, the windshields angle picks up some weird glare in certain sunlight conditions and the cup holders could be better placed. Of course if youve looked at the Santa Fe you know that gas mileage is terrible. But we liked the ride so much that we simply pledged to walk a little more and drive a little less to conserve some fuel.

I cant see why one would buy any other mid size SUV. With the tremendous warranty, its a great deal on a good car. The only downside was that we got one with a four which is does not give adequate pick up power, especially when the Air is on.

  • TOTAL LEMON!!! - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe

I bought my 2010 Santa Fe V6, full option, last year. Ive been having problems from the start. I noticed a violent jerk and sounded like my transmission fell off. I took it in to the dealer but they couldnt find anything wrong. My wife drives the Santa Fe, and the engine shut down on her twice. When we took it to the dealer, he gave us a rental for a week while they test drove it. Again, they didnt find anything wrong with it. Last month, when I was driving, I was making a left turn and when I stepped on the gas, the car was not moving, only the engine revved up. I hope people read this and never buy this crap. I am Korean-American and I will NEVER buy Korean crap again. Thank you.

  • Hyundai youve come a long way - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Overall Id say the car is definitely a winner. The only mechanical work Ive had done in over 10 years of ownership, brakes, oil changes, O2 sensor, fuel gauge. Interior quality is its biggest drawback. Both visors broke for no apparent reason. The rear seat fold down has a design flaw, when you set the seat back, theres a good chance you end up with crinkled carpet, and both rear map pockets are gone. If those things are still intact, consider yourself lucky. Id buy it again 10 times over.

  • Best of the best - 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe

We switched from Ford in 2002 and bought our first Santa Fe. Since then we have owned three and have loved every one. Only expenses have been regular maintenance and tires. Warranty has never been a problem with our dealer and all work has been done in a timely manner. I have also owned an Accent and now have an Elantra and would recommend any of them. Fuel economy on the Santa fe is 24 to 27 on the road at freeway speeds. We have 67000 miles on it and never had any problems.
