Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

My new Hyundai has 4500 miles and has been in the shop five times. It is in the shop now (three days so far). It looks good, drives well, has horrible gas mileage (averages 15 m.p.g.).I have owned Ford Explorers, Jeep Grand Cherokees, two Acura MDX, and now this. There is a unfixable squeak on both front doors when your elbows tough them .

  • Not so good - 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe

I bought my first Hyundai 2006 Santa Fe in 8/05. I bought the car because everything I read was talking about how good the cars were & how great the warranty was. I have put roughly 27,000 miles on my car since then. I have had several minor, but irritating, issues with the car lately. (1) a piece luggage rack flew off- I never used it (2) driver’s seat seam has come apart, the stitching came undone-clearly a defect (3) another obvious defect is the back windows (that don’t open) and the back windshield leak. All of my issues are fairly minor and should not be hard to fix. I guess that is why I don’t understand why I am having so much trouble getting them fixed under warranty.

  • I never thought Id own a Hyundai! - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe

I got a big dog and decided I needed an SUV again but not a big one like I had before (A big Montero which drove like a truck). I was giving up my Infiniti I-30 which I loved so this vehichle had to be good looking and fun to drive. I love this vehichle. Its even better than I had hoped for or expected. My dog loves all the cargo space and my kids seem very comfortable too in the rear seat.

At about 1500 miles on the car, it broke down.Dealer replaced IDLE PULLEY. At 3000 miles, broke down again. IDLE PULLEY again. Whats up with that? Running good after that. Now at about 4000 miles.

Do not give up on trying to get at dealer invoice everyone. I actually paid $400 below dealer invoice and also had a wonderful experience at my dealership. I researched over 6 months on my next vehicle and also drove over 30 different SUVs "I love cars" and be far the Hyundai at this price range was the best! The only other driving SUV that I liked was the Trailblazer. Good look with your efforts and remember that it is worth the drive to go test drive a Sante Fe

I bought mine used in 2005, it was a 2001, it just needed a new catalytic converter... but after that, its perfect. I have 2 kids, I just LOVE it, its roomy, comfortable, it drives real nice and smooth, like a car just bigger and higher up! Im so glad I was able to get this car. I hope they stay around for a while so I can get a new one in a few years!

All in all love the vehicle. Thanks Hyundai

  • 2.0T AWD - 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

I am extremely happy with this CUV. The AWD works very well and has already proved itself in the snow. Previous car was a 2011 Optima Turbo, so I am very well acquainted with the 2.0T. Even with 10hp less and weighing several hundred pounds more the Santa Fe feels nimble and has plenty of power. The highway Mpg is less than my optima was, but I am getting roughly the same in city. Still fill-up every two weeks as I did before and we live in WV. My better half has the 2.4 with AWD and loves it too. The only thing I miss are the blinkers on the mirrors, but I wasnt adding another package just for that.

  • Great Alternative - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

I love my new Santa Fe. This 4 cylinder has better pick up than my 6 cylinder Explorer. I also like being able to switch to switch to a stick shift when I need to.
