Overview & Reviews
One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.
Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

fun to drive and a great value - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Drymanowski - March 19 - 2:00 amI actually own a 2002 Santa Fe. Its one of the best cars Ive ever owned. I live lived in upstate ny all my life. We had a horrible winter last year. Snow falls up to 24" 2 weeks in a row. Never once spun the tires. The car perfomred perfectly and I didnt even have to use the AWD. Impressed by that and its overall reliability. Great ride and economical for a SUV. I would not hesitate in buying another.

the greatest suv on earth! - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
By gary casper - March 19 - 2:00 amThe Santafe is an all around great suv. Its perfect in all conditions; whether on snow, mud, rain, or sand it has never let me down. The inside is full of confort and space. The outside has a bold and husky look. Its a very sturdy ride but, not so rugged that youre bouncing all over the road. And thats good because, most of my driving is done on the highway. My last comment is on its gas mileage. Mine gets 23 mpg. on average so, i cant see why someone would buy one of those other suvs that get only 12 to 18 mpg. Its a great buy! Try one out for yourself and you will not regret it.

Aas good as Japanese cars - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
By gerry Wolter - March 15 - 5:13 pmBeen driving excellent Japanese cars for 30 years. My SantaFe is as good as any Ive ever had. Tows my 3000 lbs boat better than Toyata or Isuzu. Great features & no problems at 20K miles. Very solid vehicle and fun to drive. Would like to have a real manual shift, but beats a straight automatic. I have front wheel drive so I get about 23 MPG with the 3.5 liter with loads of power. Love it...

2Hyundais - One Family - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
By LoyalHyundaiOwner - March 13 - 8:23 pmWe just purchased a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. We already (and still) own a 2003 Hyudai Santa Fe and are very pleased with the reliability and superior value this vehicle provides for an SUV. The handling is excellent, the value for the money is superior, and improvements in standard features and exterior styling have made the Santa Fe even more desirable. Now that we have 2 Hyundai Santa Fes in our family, just call us crazy about our Hyundais.

harsh ride - 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe
By daniel sanchez - March 12 - 4:08 ami am in the market for an suv with 6-8 seat my option were the Hyundai Santa Fe, KIA sorento, Toyota highlander, and the Honda pilot. I first went to see the santa fe and it looked really nice the drl made it better looking than before so the sales person let me take it for a test drive. as i got out of the dealership and on to the main road it felt like it had power to hit 40-50 mph. but as i was trying to slow down to make a right turn i felt the car just bogged down as i try to accelerate to enter the other street that to me seemed pretty dangerous because the if there was a car coming i could of gotten hit. so the sales person made me turn to another street where there was a lot of bump so i drove around 40 to see how the suspension would perform, and honestly it was the worst ride as i heard loud thump as if the the rear struts were bad or something, any little thump could be heard very clearly, it was far worse for my parent that were sitting in the back because they said that the car didnt even cushion any of the bump and that they were bouncing the entire time we were on that road , it felt like riding a horse. also the brakes are a little mushy for a 4000lb car i would expect the suspension to be somewhat decent . i have a versa and a old 98 town car and the suspension is 5 times better than the santa fe. i felt sorry to tell the salesperson that we werent interested in the car because of the ride quality.

A great SUV - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
By JWP in MN - March 10 - 2:40 amI own the 2002 LX AWD my daughter bought it and put the first 30K on it and we took over for the last 60K. It was the best SUV in its class in 02 and we havent been disappointed yet. It gets 26 to 28 mpg on long trips, I dont keep track in town. It handles great in snow and on icy roads, AWD is automatic with nothing to worry about. Our only repair was a cracked A/C line otherwise trouble free except for normal maint. Soon we will get an 07 or 08 RAV4 or Santa Fe, both the top performers in our test drives. The 07s are far nicer SUVs and that is what you would expect with 5 more years of expierence but the 02 is still a well built classy SUV.

MUCH better than my Saturn SC1 - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Moperock - March 9 - 10:00 amI have wanted a Santa Fe for the last 5 years and was finally able to afford one. The exterior styling has European grace and sleekness, and the cost is more than reasonable. The ride and steering are excellent, and I will be able to fit my toddler niece and nephew triplets all in the back seat in their car seats, and have room up front for an adult!

Best Value for $ - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
By trever - March 5 - 12:30 pmOwned me Santa FE Limited V6 AWD for 7 months now and love it more than when I bought it. Gets great reviews from all that see or ride in it. Its smooth quiet ride amazes me. Everything about it is smooth and quiet. Gas mileage at 20.5 for a V6 AWD is excellant as far as Im concerned. One trip thru upstate New York got me 24mpg with cruise at 74. Yes leather seats could be a bit longer, softer, and lower, but with every car out there no matter the price there has to be trade offs. Quality and workmanship appear at this time to be above average, especially compared to my Ford Escape traded in. Did compare the Santa Fe to Nisson Murano, Mazada CX7 & CX9, Ford Edge Sel Plus.

VERMONT SANTA FE - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
By ZIPPODUDE - March 5 - 2:00 amOVERALL A GREAT VEHICLE! FUN TO DRIVE, HANDLES WELL. LEATHER SEATS ARE VERY COMFY. SEAT HEATER IS A PLUS. I PUT 4 STUDDED TIRES ON MINE AND IT CAN GO ANYWHERE MY OLD MONTERO WOULD. THE TRACTION CONTROL IS ONE OF THE BEST FEATURES. IT COMPARES WITH THE AUDI. THE ONLY COMPAINTS I HAVE IS THE GAS MILEAGE IS DISAPPOINTING, THE CUP HOLDERS ARE NOT WELL POSITIONED, AND THE SPEAKERS BUZZ AT HIGHER VOLUME. I HAVE 30,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE WITH OUT A PROBLEM. ACCELERATION IS GOOD OFF THE LINE BUT LAGS A LITTLE AROUND 35 MPH,THEN TAKES OFF AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS LITTLE ROUGH AT TIMES. OVERALL I AM EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH THE VEHICLE.
