Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

Comfortable ride, high reliability, spaceous interior, noisy engine above 3000 rpm, no troubles at all so far.front wheel drive requires attention at the steering in narrow curves and U-turns

I only have 500 miles on the car but I did have a scary steering problem with an easy fix. Driving on the freeway I was also experiencing wandering and went to the dealership to return the car. While at the dealership I by chance checked the tire pressure, all tires were at 45psi, we let the air out of each tire to 35psi and shes been driving like a dream. I filled up yesterday and parked at home with a 22.3 mpg computer reading. I went skiing this morning 1st going for coffee and then up a Canyon to a ski resort. After a most excellent day of skiing returned home with a computer reading of 23.9mpg!

I have only had the car for 30 days thus I need more time to see how things work in the long term. I am very impressed with the ride and the handling of the car thus far. I have only driven around town but seem to be getting 22 MPG in town. I am much impressed with the car so far. The radio and Infinity sound system are the best part of the car. I have had many compliments on the car in general from other people.

I like the car and it is good for road trips. lots of room and standard features. Thats a plus. I had the engine replaced at 13,000 miles and thats after not doing anything about it because the dealer kept telling me there was nothing wrong, but the car was shaking a lot. Now I have 22,000 miles and its doing the same thing.

Ive had my Santa Fe for 3 months now I love driving it. It runs well around town and on the Highway. I like being up higher than in my Camry but it still drives like a car!

  • SanteFe...rocks - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

Although it lacks some of the amenites of other top end SUVs, even fully loaded...who cares...besides who really wants an overly luxurious costly interior getting muddy and dirty. Its great for hauling my skis..ski gear and friends to the mountain. All wheel drive is a pleasure up snowy mtn roads. Leather seats keeps my rear end warm on really cold days. For the price and warranty, thats the best part...CANT BEAT IT

  • Great, good looking SUV for the price - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe

Exactly after 3 months & 3000 miles, this decent SUV is going great, love driving it, not a head-turner but great SUV for the price. Test drove Tuscon, was very tight, harsh drive and wasnt good, liked Santa Fe better. Interior is comfortable and Sonata-like (we own 2006 Sonata), turns are sharp and steering is fun. Brakes were a tad hard initially, but now they work fine. Had a few doubts about I4 engine, but it gives enough power with four adults inside and decent pick-up. In fact, had to tell a friend that its not V6. AWD is good, but will know more in winter. After reading a few complaints about transmission problems, was a bit concerned, but GLS seems to be fine. Love the BlueTooth!

  • NOT RECOMMENDED - 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe

Ive had 2 santa fes, a 2007 and a 2009, both 2.7 v6 engines. the 2007 had numerous engine problems including breaking down on me 300 miles from home on a vacation trip; traded it in for an 09 and a year and a half later it developed a tapping sound in the engine and trying to get it serviced is like pulling teeth. this "rep" has to approve all engine replacement jobs but he apparently can check in whenever he feels like it. after numerous tries to get it fixed, including calling corporate office, my frustration made me trade it in for another brand..it is not worth the aggrevation.I will never buy a hyundai again...buyer beware!!!!!!

Compfortable ride even in the back seat. Complaints: Difficult to put down back seats, had transmission problem that needed to be fixed by dealership after 1 year. Anyone else w/ transmission problems on a 2002?

  • This is a great SUV - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

I think that this is one of the best hyundais that i have ever bought. I have owned more than just a few and this one seems to be the best due to the fact that it has all wheel drive and it has plenty of room and is very versatile!
