Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

  • frozen fluid - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

I love this car. I bought it for my wife and I hardly let her drive it. The one PROBLEM is the washer fluid keeps freezing (yes I use -25 type). I have never had this problem before. I think this is a design flaw and a safety hazard. Other than that this car is great, fun to drive and fair- good on gas.

Excellent! Rides like a car (on the Sonata body). Love the color choices, great pick up. Gas mileage is 19-21 (highway and city combined). Sun roof is good (makes a bit of noise completely open, leave about 1 inch of it showing). Moon roof great. Sound system excellent. Overall, I love this SUV (I have owned Explorers and cherokees, this is the most comfortable).

  • Second Generation Love - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe

Traded my 01 Santa FE LX in on this and couldnt be happier. This is my 3rd Santa Fe but the first 2nd generation model I have owned and I am very impressed with the overall improvement. 100 more horses than my 01 and 2-3 mpg more on average makes me smile. This car has big shoes to fill since my 01 had 150k miles on it and never let me down in the 9 years I had it. Im sure it wont disappoint, if so the dealer can fix it under warranty.

  • Great Extras, Great price - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe

2002 Santa Fe LX 4X4. I am a ASE certified Master Technician so I know a little about cars. We have had this vehicle a little over a month now and every day I find another reason to be impressed. Time is the major test for any vehicle and so far, The santa Fe is getting all As.

Very fun to drive, especially with the 3.5 liter engine. However, the gas pedal can be touchy. I inadvertently burn rubber on occasion when pulling into traffic while stopped. Handling is exceptional for an SUV. Much quieter and smoother ride than truck based SUVS. An excellent value for the money. Of course, has a great warranty to go with great price!

  • Catalytic Converter Gone Already? - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

I was first impressed, but quickly disappointed. After owning the vehicle for 2 weeks, the rear right tail light had built up condensation. Then the check engine light came on and found out that the Catalytic converter was bad....how can that be? I do not even have 8 thousand miles on the vehicle and I am dumping it. Oh yeah...one more thing...the stupid visor on the passengers side fell completely off...just hanging by a few wires.

  • Great Ride - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

I didnt want the Santa-Fe at first, I was looking for a reasonable suv and I wasnt sold on the Santa-Fe. Then, I drove one and I was sold! I suggest the 6 cylinder model and a sunroof. I love the ride, the cd changer and Monsoon sound system. The Sanfa-Fe has everything except the price. People that have ridden to work with me are now interested. One, who owns a Lexus SUV likes my Santa-Fe LX as much as his Lexus. As a matter of fact, When my friends lease is up, he is trading for an LX too. He said he was tired of paying so much for the Lexus in lease and gas when the Hyundai LX I have does better for less! I agree ... for me ... this one is a "Keeper!"

  • good little SUV...poor gas mileage - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

I love the Sante Fe except for awful gas mileage and a squeek in the door panel that I can not get ride of. Otherwise a nice SUV..If I had known that the RAV4 was going to be extended, I would have bought that instead.

  • My white 2003 FWD LX - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

I thought that after living with a car for 5 years since being purchased brand new it would be a good assessment of how it would perform day in and day out. In one word "excellent". The only things Ive done besides normal maintenance were to change the battery & the license plate lights! Even the BF Goodrich tires managed to hold up with tread left at 77,000 but I figure it was time to replace them with another set. I managed about 25mpg overall but admit not to being a fast driver. The only wear and tear was the paint for some reason coming off of all the 5 doorhandles. I would guess the paint is on the thin side. Would I do it all over again? Without a doubt, I love this car!
