Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

The car is an eye catcher where ever I drive it. I had test driven a number of SUVs before purchasing this vehicle and found it not only to be one of the most stylish in the price range, but one of the most comfortable. It also came with amenities that one would find only on SUVs costing thousands more. Also, who can be the warranty?

Overall I really enjoy my Santa Fe. I wanted a vehicle that was upscale, but not over the top, being a college student. I make regular long drives and the vehicle has very good room and comfort. I live in a big city and I have no difficulty getting around town either. The vehicle looks great, drives well, and costs much less than many other vehicles of similar features and quality.

I was leaning toward the Nissan Murano until I drove the Santa Fe Ltd. Not only was it almost $5000 less than the Murano comparably equipped, but it had less road noise and 7 passenger seating vs. 5 in the Murano with a much better warranty to boot.

  • Maybe I got a lemon - 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

It was a great car, until it hit 2 years old, and 30,000 KM (~18,000 miles). A piston broke in the engine, and the engine completely failed. What is worse, is the Warranty department balked on replacing the engine as per the service managers request. Eventually they agreed to a short block replacement and a few peripherals. Even that took nearly 2 weeks for approval, and I have little confidence this will be a long term fix. No rental car offered, and no explanation or apology. Still waiting for car to be fixed, as parts have to be shipped in. Not impressed. It is my second Hyundai, and now my last.

  • Good but could be better - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

The Santa Fe sold me as soon as I drove it on the test drive. For the most part, I like it, although the cloth seats can become uncomfortable on long trips. Also a bit of an aggravating buzzing noise coming from somewhere around the drivers door. Some hesistation after putting it in park or neutral then putting it back into gear. I am disappointed in the gas milage. No where near what I was expecting. But other than that, it is a great vehicle.

This is a wonderful, dependable, affordable vehicle. Its not real great on gas, but it looks good and I feel very safe. Its great if you have a child as you can put the child in the middle of the back seat and use the support hook in the back.

  • Awesome Purchase - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

When I bough my SUV i had been researching and looking for a new car for approximately 5 months. I decided I really wanted an SUV, and the newly designed Santa Fe was the first to catch my eye. My family was skeptical because everyone thought Hyundai was a not so great brand of car. They were wrong!!! With the warranty, I decided to give it a go. I have had my car for 15 months and it was an awesome purchase!! No problems whatsoever and it drives like a car, which is something I was looking for. I wasnt so sure about my beige interior either, but in my black car, it looks very classy... like myself! The only thing I would change would be to offer a sunroof package with all the models!!
