Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

Ive had very bad luck with my Santa Fe. It is frequently being repaired, it has no power to get over hills(mis-fire in the cylinders), the air conditioner provides little more than an open window does and smells like mold, the rear wheels screech constantly, the powerlocks NEVER worked right and are now disconnected, a MAJOR moisture problem in winter(have to scrape the inside of the windows while driving.

We like it for our family of four (parents and teenagers). The size is not too small as you might think. It is really just roomy enough. The mileage is coming up to 21 mpg this last fill up(1200 Miles). We can not wait to take a 4 hr trip to Lubbock soon to see how the ride is on a longer drive and how the milage comes out. Around town this is a fun little car. The kids call it our suv. It is a lot of fun to drive. Peppy and responsive is the word. We got the 2.7L V-6 for the extra milage. Frankly more power is not necessary. The torque steer is very strong with the little engine.

  • Absolutely Love This Vehicle - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

I purchased this vehicle used and by far my favorite. I have owned all types of vehicles and this is by far my favorite in terms of performance and luxury. My girlfriend has a BMW X3 and the Hyundai compares in terms of luxury and performance. In fact if you look at the specs the two vehicles are almost identical. The only difference is the BMW feels "tighter" steering wise. Overall plenty of power and luxury. The seats are comfortable and the ride is extremely smooth and quiet. Getting about 20.7 mpg in primarily suburban driving and over 25 on a long trip to and from the Jersey shore.

Love the truck, hate the gas miledge! Im driving 450 miles/week to work on mountainous roads and through mid-size cities. Even using the cruise and a K$N filter, getting 18-20MPG.

Purchased this vehicle two weeks ago for my wife. She and I both love it. We had a power seat switch fail within a week, but the dealership addressed it quickly. Power is good with the 3.3L. The 2.7L would not be enough. Turns tight, quiet on the road. Seats have enough adjustability to be comfortable. Good leg room in 2nd row.

  • Santa Fe GLS - A Winner - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

This is one of the most comfortable vehicles I have owned. For the money paid, it has more extras and refinements than any of the other makes of SUVs on the market. When factoring in the 5 year mfgers. bumper-to-bumper warranty, this, in my opinion is one of the "best buys" on the market today. Most importantly, my wife, who previously never drove an SUV, loves it.

I was one of the first owners of this vehicle in northern California. The car has been a pleasure to drive, very reliable and quite spunky in terms of acceleration. I looked extensively at the Tribute, RAV4 and Escape before deciding on the Santa Fe. I must say I feel I made the right decision. The warranty gave me much comfort regarding the unknowns of this vehicle. I have been so impressed with Hyundai that I puchased an Elantra for my wife when she needed a new car.

  • No pick up - 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

I really want to love this car. I love the exterior and interior design and all the features it has. For these reasons, I would say the car has good value. HOWEVER, I have had the car not even 2 weeks and cannot get used to the 4 cylinder, which Im assuming is the reason the car has NO pick up. It takes too long to get going every time I have to accelerate and this makes me dread every single traffic light/stop sign. Maybe it is because I am coming from the 6 cyl. tuscon, but it just doesnt seem like enough power for an suv. I dont remember my test drive being like this so Im tempted to go drive another one at the dealership andsee if its a problem with my car. Anyone else have this?

  • Surprised - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

My wife and I were looking for an suv that was still good on gas. It was an easy search thanks to the other consumers on this site. We looked at the pilot, tribeca and highlander. I was scepical about purchasing a hyundai but was very surprised at how this car drove. I call it a car because thats exactly how it drove. Living in massachusetts the rodes are bumpy due to the winters and this car makes the potholes almost nonexistant.
