Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

I switched from a Toyota Highlander to the SantaFe. In many respects, the two cars are very similar and so far I have no regrets. The Highlander had grown to large for me, along with price. With the SantaFe I am averaging 22-23 mpg on the road and 16-17 in the city. The only issue with 1400 miles is the console cover around the shifter continues to pop loose. Minor issue and yet to go back to the dealer

  • Poor Design for Maintainability - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

At 75,000 miles had the spark plugs and timing belt replaced at a cost of $900! The intake manifold has to be removed to get at the spark plugs and the timing belt is very difficult to get to. There could be two reasons for this: 1) Thoroughly incompetent engine design engineers, or 2) Hyundai management dictated poor design for maintainability as a way of enriching their dealerships. The unfortunate owner has to spend a lot of money for what should be simple and inexpensive replacements. Spark plugs at least should be a do it yourself project. And then there are those engine and cruise control glitches; my Santa Fe seems top have more glitches than the space shuttle.

I was skeptical of the Hyundai Sante Fe after driving Jeep Grand Cherokees for the last 13 years (I still have two of them) however; I am impressed not only from performance to design. I really like my Hyundai and Oscar at Lake Norman Hyundai, Huntersville, NC was great to work with.

Love this SUV! I have been extremely happy with the vehicle. I have been a loyal Toyota owner until the Santa Fe. I hope to get many years out of this vehicle. I have had to evacuate LA. 2 times in this SUV and am glad I had the room both inside and with available roof racks. Would definitely recommend the factory installed tow hitch..could have used it. Would drive this SUV anywhere.

after driving my gls santa fe for one month i have only found two issues which i feel need mentioning the first is the gas mileage not to good ? before this i had a grand caravan with a 3.3 engine which gave me very good mileage , and two the one exterior problem is the way that the rain water chnnels are directed in a bad direction if you open your window after a rain the water come pouring in ontop of all the window controls which

I researched many different SUVs and test drove most of them. After all was said and done I selected the Hyundai Santa Fe Limited with FWD. I wanted all the options that the Santa Fe offered. I added 20" mag wheels with wide tires. I must say this is the best overall vehicle I have ever owned. It answers all my driving needs completely and I would suggest that anyone looking at a Honda, Toyota, Mazada, Kia or any SUV to strongly take a look and test drive the Fanta Fe Limited. This is, by far, the best vehicle, quality wise and safety wise that you can buy for the money you pay. I have never owned a Hyundai and never thought I would until I checked out the reviews and the vehicle itself.

  • excellent value - 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe

The warrany is excellent, theyve taken care of any problems (faulty sensor recall, corroded chrome handles, interior door panel) It is very reliable, and better in slippery weather than my husbands rwd/4wd truck. the downside is that there is a lot of highway noise, so if youre on the phone or listening to the radio, the volume needs to be turned way up.

  • New Santa Fe problems - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

Car ride is ok but tires are noisy. AC unit goes out on hot humid days, dealer says cant replicate. Breaks squealed when new, deal said couldnt replicate. Major problem with transmission, auto trans. slips down shifting and upshifting between 20- 40 mph, bringing in next week, hoping dealer doesnt say cant replicate. Would never buy another Hyundai, will sell this one soon.

We traded in a 2005 2.0L Tucson for this vehicle. Our Tucson had been a reliable car. No probs of any kind in 5 yrs, but we had just outgrown it. And we needed more safety features (6 airbags) and a more comfortable ride. The dealer was clearing out the 2010 Santa Fes. We got a 6K rebate. Car was reduced to 23K (Canada). Car is a bargain at this price. 276 HP with 6 speed tranny. Smooth acceleration, tons of power. At 120 KM car is 2000 rpm. Quiet cabin. Lots of storage. Very much a sedan like ride. Great family car. Only had a month, but so far extremely happy. Drove the 2.4L. found it underpowered. Go with the 6 if yer considering it.
