Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

  • average SUV for the money - 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe

2012 sante fe GLS AWD V6. the vehicle is just average on everything. it does nothing really "great." hyundai needs to try a little harder on build quality, exterior and interior design. doors and suspension feel tinny. engine is just ok. its not fun to drive BUT, for the money it is a decent small suv.

I love my Sante Fe. I have had only one minor problem with the air conditioning system with a switch that occasionally turns off the fan, but the dealership replaced the switch and the car is great. I love it. It is dependable, fun to drive and looks good. I think it is a good value for the price.

  • Love this car! - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

I have 165000 miles and love it as the day I bought it! Changed the timing belt every 60000 miles and all Ive changed is the alternator at 130000. Regular oil changes, tires wear well (yeah! Goodrich Long Trails). Goes through 2 ft snow without difficulty handles great with shiftronic! The price is now too high and auto has changed so cant afford another! Sob! Its still going strong so not to worry yet. Great car! Well built,I feel very safe driving it in any weather.

  • I like my Santa Fe - 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

I bought this car in August 2001 knowing nothing about its reliability. Ive been pleasantly surprised. I compared it to the Ford Escape and Toyota RAV. Hands down the Hyundai was more comfortable, and had better handling and a better price. I got the base model, and although I live in Western New York, have never regretted not getting the AWD. It handles great in the snow and on corners. Ive had only one minor mechanical problem fixed under warranty. I plan to keep this car for a long time.

  • 2nd Santa Fe Owned - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

This is the second Santa Fe I have owned. I loved the 1st (2001) and I love this one even more. I still own my 1st and it has 174,000 miles on it and few repairs. This 2007 model is fun to drive, comfortable, stylish and dependable. I have my oil changed at the dealership because they are comparable in price, but their service and customer service is the best Ive ever encountered. I wont be surprised if my next car is a Santa Fe also.

  • Hyundai has come a L-O-N-G way! - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

When my wife and I decided to buy a small SUV as a 3rd vehicle, we first looked at the Hyundai Tucson. We liked it a lot but decided to also look at the Santa Fe. We were immediately impressed and after checking out all competitors, we bought our Limited AWD with XM and Premium Package fresh off the truck. After 1 month and 1500 miles I can say positively that the Santa Fe is a wonderful SUV. Its comfortable, well-built, and every bit as enjoyable to drive as our former Volvo XC90. The Santa Fe has the feel of a much more expensive vehicle. There are no rattles or squeaks and everything has a solid feel to it. Im a "car guy" and this Hyundai has not disappointed me.

  • Driveshaft Broke - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

Driveshafter broke at 134,000, which pulled the ball joint out of the right front wheel, throwing a piece of metal into the serpentine belt, breaking it. The right front tire fell off. Thankfully, I was driving thru a parking lot when all this happened. Earlier I was going down I-70 at 70 mph. There is a recall for 2013 driveshaft breaking but Hyundai doesnt want to admit there is a problem with the driveshaft. It doesnt just break.

  • Needs some consumer input - 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

Life with this car after purchase revealed some annoying features. So would you like to leave the sunroof open while you run in the house or store quick? Nope cant do it...you cannot turn the car off and lock it if the sunroof is open. Need to quickly close the trunk because of driving snow or rain? Nope you cant do it...you need to wait for the automatic gate to do it slowly while you wait. Did you put something in the cubby below the radio and then park the car? Good luck getting it out if its a bulky item because the shifter will be in the way. Do you plan to sit in the front passenger seat occasionally when youre not driving? The seat adjustment controls are nothing like the driver seat, and as a matter of fact, youll sit a few inches lower on the passenger side. Ever drop something between the driver seat and the center console? Youll never get it out without going in from the back seat underneath the seat because its so narrow you cant even fit your fingertips in between there. Good luck vacuuming the carpet in these spaces because there are plenty of narrow spaces where things can fall but no ability to vacuum. This car handles well and drives well and has a nice warranty but if youre looking for the basic comforts of a busy lifestyle with kids look somewhere else. Hyundai needs to ask consumers where they can improve for future model redesigns.

  • Better than gold - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

Lets talk service... I bought the car over the internet from Miami. Paperwork and a set of key was fedexed and my car was parked at the Denver airport with a location map faxed to me. No car dealership will do that for you. The Santa Fe is delightful and when I am back in Miami with my S430 I still miss it.

  • One solid performer - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

I test drove the Honda Pilot, CRV and Element and the Mazda CR7. None of them gave me the overall satisfaction I get from the Sante Fe. This car does everything well. The gas mileage is not bad when you consider the vehicle weighs 4300 lbs. I traded in a very temperamental 02 Audi Allroad for the Sante Fe and have no regrets.
