Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

  • The Hidden Secret - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

You dont hear much talk about the Santa Fe compared to hondas, nissans, or toyotas. Its value & Quality is like a hidden secret. I feel that it surpasses them all in value and its solid construction is all anyone needs. Only two things I dont like about my hyundai is gas milage and the fact that the bumpers have no protection from scratches. Obviously the people who designed this car dont drive or have to park in NY city. People continually bump into it scratching the painted bumpers. They need to think about some bumper guards or grills at least as an option with the car.

We have taken our Santa Fe out on the beach this summer and we never once got stuck. We have driven it in ice and snow and it gave us a real sense of security. It got up icy hills with no problem! Before we bought it, we did not like the design, but after awhile we actually grew to like it so much! It does not look like every other SUV and the distinctive, flared front fenders gives it a classy, designer look. The 2.7 engine can be a bit sluggish at times, but the Santa Fe gets 18-22 miles per gallon, and that is quite acceptable.

THE DRIVERS SEAT COULD BE A BIT MORE ROOMY AND MORE LEG ROOM. IF I HAVE A BEVERAGE IN THE CUP HOLDER MY RIGHT KNEE IS RIGHT UP AGAINST THE MUG OR BOTTLE. ALSO THE RADIO DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH BASS.THE SOUND COULD BE MUCH MORE FULLER, ESPECIALLY SINCE ITS CALLED "MONSOON".

  • LX: Worth the small increase in price - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

Hundai, like Toyota did years ago has held down the price in order to build acceptance. This is an excellent value for a compact SUV and comes with the best warrenty I know of.

Car is good-looking inside and out; friends look twice, then express surprise that its a Hyundai. Its highly reliable. In two years, only trouble has been a failed battery. Maintenance is inexpensive.

  • The Right Choice - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe

I looked at sedans, vans, compacts and SUVs for over 4 months while driving my miserable 1994 Ford Taurus with a rattling exhaust. I did not want to settle for just any new car. I wanted a 5 passenger, good in the snow, sharp and affordable vehicle. The Santa Fe had everything I was looking for, and some pleasant surprises. The electronics (lights, controls, when on and when off) compare and almost match the $65k+ Lexus SUV. EVERYONE I talk to about my car tells me how sharp it looks and what a surprise it is to see it in person. Saw dozens in Naples Florida area.

We love our Hyundai. We have had no major problems. Its fun to drive and comfortable. Tried to get a friend to look at one, she never did and ended up with a Ford Escape. The ride isnt as good as our Santa Fes and she paid way more for a smaller vehicle. We tried to tell her!

  • comfort and accelleration - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

I was very impressed by this vehicle for the short time I was able to drive it. The comfort and space is awesome. At first glance it looks tiny but it is only an illusion. The space and comfort rival those german high dollar vehicles and the performance is just as awesome. The accelleration is the best of all. I zipped around the Los Angeles area as if I were in an indy car. Hats off to Hyundai.
