Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

I will be trading in my 02 Santa fe to purchase a 06 Honda Element. This car has been so great I actually feel bad about trading it in. I had planned on driving it into the ground but decided to trade it in before it lost all value. Had a few bumps in begining with dealership- they never lubed on front wheel/brake and it wore out instantly. Dealer always fought over what was covered under warranty. After the first year things were great. So much room my friends were envious. At least they would have been if it didnt say HYUNDAI on the back. Cant shake that cheap stigma even though its a 22k car. Not sure I would ever buy another.

I had a Toyota Van before I got my Hyundai, I miss the room in the van, but once I got use to driving my Santa Fe, I found out, I had lots of room once the back seats are down. I like the 16 inch tires, makes a big difference when traveling. The one problem that I have is the gas miliage, its not quite the same as with the van, I get about 15 city and sometimes 23 on the open road.

  • Very Pleased - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Having owned this vehicle almost 2 years I can say that it is one impressive vehicle. I was skeptical at first about buying a Hyundai but Im glad I did. The car has held up extremely well and there are no issues whatsoever. I drove the Rav4, CR-V, Vue, CX-7, and Murano before deciding on the Santa Fe and do not regret it to this day. A deer ran out in front of me one night not too long ago and had to replace the front bumper, driver side headlamp, driver front fender and various components. Though insurance covered it the total cost was close to $5,000.00, it is not a very cheap vehicle to repair if ever in a minor accident.

  • Hated It - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Traded a 2005 4WD Santa Fe which I loved. The minute I drove this car off the lot, I could not stand the ride. Overly felt every road bump. The entire driving experience was nerve wracking. Felt a vibration through my hands on the steering wheel, my foot and up my leg from the gas pedal and in my seat. Drive 20 miles to work and arrived so nerved up because of this. Dealership maintains this is normal. Traded it after 4 days for a 2009 Sonata. Too Bad !!!

  • Nice for the price - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

I really like this SUV since it has everything I wanted for a decent price. The warranty is also a fabulous plus. Cons: I have a problem with the location and noise level of the heating/AC unit. Its very loud and you have to crank the stereo up to hear it over the noise of the fans. Its also not easy to operate. My least favorite feature is the gas mileage. Its horrible. They could have done better with it.

  • GREAT CAR for the money.... - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

I am only 16 years old and this was my first car and I bought a 2002 Hyundai sante fe and I bought it used at 60,000 miles and for about 6,200. I was hoping to get an suv because I have to drive about 2 hours each weekend during the winter through the snow and this car holds up really well, I dont have the all wheel drive version but even just the 2 wheel drive does really well. Its great in snow and rain. Another reason I got this car is because for an suv it has pretty good gas mileage. Its a good car pretty cheap and I love I highly recommend it. The only thing I could complain about is how when I go over 70 the wheel shakes but that has happened since I had the car. But great car!

  • Bought used, driven for 4 months/5000km - 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

Bought used, I have driven it for 4 months and 5000km now. Ride is a little rough, you can feel and hear some little bumps in the road. The fan and AC system sometimes has a mind of its own. It will turn on by itself after I turn it off. Although Im starting to figure out how to get around it by adjusting the fan speed then hit OFF. Driving on highway to merge and stepping on accelerator, sometimes there will be a dead spot on how far you push the accelerator. The car will hesitate or not accelerate as fast as you want to for 2 seconds, then accelerate normally. It is roomy and comfortable inside. The center armrest between driver and passenger sometimes creaks. Overall not a bad car.

My first new car has been wonderful. There have been no performance issues, the V6 has power and the ride is comfortable.
