Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

Very impressive. Looked at the competetors (i.e. Sorento and Axiom) and neither of these came close. Everyone who has seen it has been in love with it. The comfort features are great. It is worthwhile to pay the extra money to get the sunroof and running boards; they complete the look.

  • Best economy station wagon ever !!! - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

All of the car manufacturers have stopped making big, low priced family station wagons. Definitely buy this "SUV" without hesitation if a big station wagon is what you really need. You will not be disappointed! And dont assume that you need to upgrade to a six-cylinder engine just because all of the "professional" reviews say so. If you cant live with the base four, you probably didnt want a station wagon to begin with.

  • Will not buy Hyundai again - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Driving is decent for an SUV along with the looks however I have owned my "first-time Hyundai" 2 months and it has been in the shop over half of that due to a sunroof issue. I am on my 5th sunroof and the problems are still not corrected. I contacted the consumer affairs department and received a case number and that is the last time I have heard from them. I have called to update information and have been told repeatedly that my case manager will be in touch and this has been going on for a month with still no contact. The sunroof still leaks and when open rattles to the point it sounds like the glass is going to brake. Now, I am again waiting for them to decide what to do. Horrible!

  • Santa Fe, Best Choice by far for us. - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Previously owned a Subaru Outback, then Mazda Tribute. Test drove Toyota RAV, Highlander, Honda Pilot and Mazda CX-7 and 9. The Santa Fe was by far the best vehicle for us and best value. Quiet comfortable cabin. Plenty of HP and smooth shifting. We were looking for a larger vehicle than the Tribute and though we would buy the Pilot but after comparing all, it was no contest, Santa Fe hands down. The size is right for us, the finish inside is outstanding with great controls, plenty of knee and leg room, firm but comfortable seats and a great driving position. Exterior styling has an "attitude." Getting 18 MPG around town and 23+ on a trip from Denver to Aspen and back.

I like driving an suv that handles like a car. It is very roomy and easy to manuever. I wish the mileage was better. but overall, I am very pleased with my Sante Fe and would definitely purchase another when the time comes

  • 100% Referral - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

Excellent car and value overall! I reluctantly bought my 1st Hyundai based on a friends referral of the Santa Fe. Turned out to be the best and least- expensive auto I have ever owned. Now owned for 6 years without a SINGLE problem. Historically, I sold previous cars within 3-4 years because they were junk and everything would begin failing. Surprisingly, not so with my Santa Fe. I highly recommend this car and am on Edmunds looking at the new models.

  • I love my car - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe

I test drove EVERYTHING-from a Lexus, Acura, trucks, jeeps and I kept coming back to the Santa Fe. It is a terrific car for a great price. I love the cd/tape player, the feeling of safety, and the handling. If you get one-get the top of the line..it is worth the extra bucks.

We traded in our 1999 Rav4, which we bought new, on the Santa Fe. We really liked the Toyota but did not like its four cylinder engines lack of power, its uncomfortable and cramped back seat, and its excessive interior road noise. The six cylinder Santa Fe is very quiet inside and has much more power and an extremely comfortable and roomy back seat. If the GLS proves to be reliable, we will always purchase Hyundai vehicles.

  • Jury is out - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe

I have owned my Santa Fe since 5/10 and have 15k on it since then Im happy to say that ive not experienced any of the transmission problems others have. I do have a service appointment next week to fix a problem with the rear door locks, they stopped working when using the key fob. Im a bit unhappy with all the doors and door hardware on this vehicle in regards to quality and am unsure how it will hold up over time (not optimistic). Other than that Im happy with the driving experience and mpg.
