Overview & Reviews
One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.
Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

Best SUV for the Money - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
By DonP - November 22 - 2:00 amI researched all the available SUVs that I could get for less than $30k. The Santa Fe is a solid car with many features that I like. So far no major problems at 17,000 miles. I did have to have it into the dealer FOUR times for emission problems. RV mirror came loose, and rear window defroster does not work. LIKE: Good power, solid handling, many features such as heated seats, sun roof. DISLIKE: Door arm rest are hard as a rock and very uncomfortable. Why? Horizontal buttons on the console are too easy to push accidentally - very irritating. Rear seats do not fold down flat, reducing utility.

6 Year report - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Kadaro - November 19 - 10:10 pmLove the car @ 125K miles. only history to report is Velocity sensor gear failed, P/S pump and lines fail/rust prematurely. Almost impossible to replace P/S pump yourself. Must use hyundai oil filter or you will have engine knock after sitting overnight. Window antenna is garbage on 2004, improved at 2005.

By Anonymous - November 19 - 2:00 amVery Comfortable car nice ride on long trips. Developed a transmission problem on occation transmission bangs into 3 gear when driving in town or traffic had to dealer numerous times explain how to duplicate but dealer refuse to give time to test drive for it to occure! Then you get unable to duplicate. Wife refuses to take a new car into the city. This is not the only car this is happening to.

We Love our Sante Fe - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
By sabbybg - November 16 - 2:00 amThis is my wifes vehicle and her 3rd Hyundai. She reports that this is the best vehicle, meaning safety and fun to drive, than any other we have had. I am so impressed with the Sante Fe, that I will no longer buy my Sable LS and want a Sante Fe as well. And I have never liked SUVs. I have always been a sedan guy.Imagine my surprise. This is a great vehicle and you cannot beat the warranty. As a loyal customer, my wife was actually able to get a 100,000 mile bumper to bumper coverage. Talk about Driving without worries.

Love it so far - 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe
By bff1 - November 15 - 2:22 amIve only driven my Santa Fe sport for 2 weeks (500 miles) so far, so Im still in the honeymoon phase and cannot speak for things like reliability. I love it so far. Its very quiet to drive, and the steering wheel gadgets are awesome - bluetooth, radio controls, etc. The styling is great, and the hidden compartments below the rear floor are bigger than any other privacy space in this vehicle class. Power is good. There are a couple of odd shift points, but not issues going up hill or getting on the highway. The proximity key is nice. The whole family thought this was the most comfortable in this class, and also the quietest.

longshot buyer - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
By longstrk9 - November 11 - 10:00 ami took a longshot on this purchase, ive only had it a week not much to complain or compliment on at the this time. i own a 2002 trailblazer for 2 years and thats what i traded in for the santa fe. now being that i just left a 300 hp suv its hard to critized a smaller suv at this time but i am amazed that gas milelage only differs about 2 to 3 miles the santa should give more gas milage. so far so good first 400 miles hope the next 400 is something to brag on. (hello shreveport la.) LOL

very satisfied - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
By john smith - November 9 - 10:00 amWhats all this talk about not enough power?? Compared to most of the rest of the world we Americans are sooo spoiled. In most other places this vehicle would be considered very peppy. It is certainly adequate for me. Only complaint is not enough room for long legged drivers. Live long and prosper!

Love My Santa Fe - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Leslie - November 9 - 10:00 amI have had my Santa Fe for 3 weeks and am still in love with her. It has easy access to air conditioning and radio controls and the ability to shift manually. The Santa Fe has beautiful lines and styling and has a very smooth ride. I tried the Honda CRV and the Toyato Rav and they didnt hold a candle to the Santa Fe in terms of looks, standard features, roominess and price. The 5 year/60,000 mile warrenty was a great added feature. Beats them all.
