This Year's Model Updates:

Air conditioning becomes standard equipment on GS and GL models. Otherwise, Hyundai's bargain-basement car soldiers on to 2002 with no changes in store.

Pros:
  • Smooth ride, low price, impressive powertrain warranty.
Cons:
  • Unrefined demeanor, lack of standard equipment and amenities.

  • Hyundai definitely gets my vote! - 2002 Hyundai Accent

I purchased a 2002 Hyundai Accent GS to use as my commuter car! I had my doubts, but thought what the heck, as long as it gets me from point A to point B. To my surprise, Hyundai has been more reliable then my Audi. Anyone looking for reliability, gas economy and affordability, look no further. Your Hyundai will always take you where you want to go!

This car has been increadible! I have no problems with it. It drives realy good and its reliable. The car is comfortibul and roomy. With the hatchback I can fit a 32 in. tv in the back and still do more shoping with out haveing to go drop it off!!! :-) It need a biger engen and more power but a few upgreads can change that. All in all its a great car and fun to drive.

I inherited this Accent from my father with 36,900 miles on it. He bought it new. He had previously ONLY driven Toyota/Nissan. He has always raved about how flawless the Accent has been. I have since put 10,000 more miles on it in a span of 3 months and would like provide my experiences. I am 61" and find the front seats extremely comfortable and surprisingly roomy for the size of this car. Standard multi-adjustable seat with lumbar. Visibility is great all around (important in this size of car). I drove from Maryland to South Texas in 2 days with minimal discomfort and the car performed flawlessly. It can cruise at 70 mph+ all day long, literally, and return 35mpg doing it.

I am the proud owner of a Hyundai Accent GL that I named Passion (its Red). Its a wonderful car she survived a 14-hour to and from trip from New Jersey to Georgia and other than usual oil changes and tune-ups, I would recommend it to any young driver in need of a car.

  • Smart buy! - 2002 Hyundai Accent

Bought my Hyundai for $3800, valued it between $5,200 and $7,200. Id never buy a new car, they lose value from the get go! Anyhow, I went looking for a used Hyundai because other family members swear by theirs. Zippy car, 5-speed, roomy, and reliable! I keep looking for problems because I practically stole this vehicle, but truthfully its a dream!

  • Great transportation - 2002 Hyundai Accent

I bought my Accent instead of renting a car when my primary car was being repaired. 2 years later I still have the Hyundai, have let several people in my family borrow the car and I have had nor heard no complaints. It has never required any repairs what-so-ever. It gets good gas mileage and is comfortable to drive even on long trips. The interior noise level is a bit high at freeway speeds and it is lacking horsepower, but I didnt buy it with any great expectations of luxury or performance. I am very pleased with the car overall. I highly recommend it for its class of vehicle - Good, Solid, Economical transportation.

This car has been my favorite car. I used to own a volkswagon jetta that cost nearly twice as much and gave me twice as many problems. i have never had a mechanical problem with my accent and it is easy to park, easy on gas, accelerates great, and is very sporty!
