Honda has made a number of enhancements to the 2004 Honda S2000. Most importantly, a larger 2.2-liter engine has been fitted. This, along with revised transmission gearing, is meant to improve power delivery. Other changes include updated suspension tuning, 17-inch wheels (16s were the previous standard), upgraded brakes, larger tailpipes and restyled front and rear bumpers with new headlights and taillights. Inside, there's a new center console (with two cupholders and a storage tray) and a bit more shoulder, elbow and hiproom for the driver and passenger. All Honda cars have a new seatbelt reminder system this year.

• Agile chassis, rev-happy engine, minimalist design, optional hardtop, high level of performance for the price.

• Still not much low-end torque, no passenger airbag cut-off switch.

  It hugs the corners on winding roads and drives like a dream on straight stretches with plenty of power to spare. I like the minimal interior.

  Ive had the top up once since I bought the car two months ago. Its just a kick to drive (itll snap your head back in all six forward gears) and Im constantly being asked "What is that?" wherever I take it. I really dont think Id change a thing (other than I wished someone made a quality bra for it).

  This car is the most fun car you could purchase for the money. With a 9k redline there is no doubt about the fun this car can produce. The handling is superior to almost any car. You get good looks, good performance, and great mileage from a Honda so you know it is reliable. The closest comparable car to a S2000 would have to be the new C6 Corvette, which probably doesnt handle as well in the convertible model.

  Ive driven the Boxter Ive driven the TT Ive driven the Miata. None of them match the ride, the responsiveness, the fun of the S2000. Every time I drive the S2000 the only question that occurs to me is, why would i want to drive anything else?

  Great looks, great handling vehicle with quick response and a quick ride. Plenty of power and smooth shifting 6 speed transmission makes this car FUN to drive. Great vision at night with the new headlights!

  My weekend car for the past 10 years was a 90 RX7 conv. Took an S2k for a 30 min. test ride in July over winding roads and fell in love with it. Great on turns and fab acceleration - especially in third gear. Interior very well designed and trunk very adequate room for a sports car. Had some difficulty fastening the cover over the top when it is down, but its in place. To my taste, the styling beats all the other two seat convertables.

  Before I got my S2000 I thought that excellent performance required 8 cylinders and a $50,000 price tag. I was wrong. I had a Vette before this car. The Honda is more reliable and every bit as much fun to drive.

  Wow, what a pleasure it is to drive this car. I have not had so much fun driving in years. This is what MG and esspecially Triumph would be selling today if they had kept improving the MGB and TR6 for the last 30 years. This is a roadster for those that want to experience the drive. It is absolutely not an isolation chamber to get you from point A to B with little involvement. I have taken this car for one 1000 mile road trip. Several hundred miles were on curvy two lanes. That was big fun. What was not fun was bumper to bumper through LA on the way home. In my opinion this is not a good commuter car.

  Well, just bought an 04 Silverstone with red/black interior. Holy crap is she beautiful! After years of stupidness thinking between the Boxster, 350Z, Z4 and M3s, I made the right choice by buying this beauty. The car speaks for itself and is an amazing example of what engineering can do and how badly it is lacking in American cars. I woke up this morning, kissed my wife first, kids second and the car third. I love this thing.
