This Year's Model Updates:

Changes to the 2006 Honda Pilot SUV include standard side curtain airbags for all three rows and freshened headlight, taillight and wheel designs. A maintenance minder system has also been added to all Pilots. The optional navigation system now has a 7-inch screen and a reverse-parking assist camera. The EX trim level now has standard foglights this year, and EXs with leather seating get standard XM Satellite Radio. Also new this year is a front-wheel-drive Pilot with Honda's fuel-saving Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) feature for its V6 engine. Finally, stated power output for the Pilot's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior with eight-passenger seating, versatile storage and cargo-hauling abilities, many standard features, comfortable ride, smooth power delivery.

  • Great family vehicle!!! - 2006 Honda Pilot

Its a luxury vehicle while being a family hauler. The navigation is awesome, and I love the drive experience. The seat adjustments are excellent, even if the interior is a little less dashing than would be desirable. Its a smooth riding comfort SUV for a large family such as ours, all for a very reasonable price given all the features. Also very safe.

We purchased the EX-L with Navigation. Navi is great and easy to use. Very helpful when traveling in an unfamiliar city. The ride is smooth and engine is very quiet. Back-up camera is great also (lots of little kids on our street running around). Have had some problems with the audio not having sound at times. Still working on this, but Honda did extend our warranty.

  • Finally - The Perfect SUV! - 2006 Honda Pilot

My wife and I are both teachers and research nuts when it comes to purchasing a new vehicle. We have always had good fortune with Honda and a few of the Toyotas we’ve owned, but after six months with our Pilot, we’ve come to the conclusion that this is the first vehicle we’ve owned that has performed to perfection. We’re averaging over 22 mpg, (city and some freeway), and the comfort on long trips is spectacular. We had a mishap driving into L.A. with an obstacle on the freeway – at 75 mph we had to jerk the wheel and switch lanes then back again to avoid a crash. The VSA (vehicle stability assist) worked as advertised and saved our lives. Thank you, Honda, for surpassing our expectations.

  • A good choice - 2006 Honda Pilot

I have put over 10K miles on the Pilot and I have had no problems or issues. It drives very smooth and handles great. I finally have used it in the snow and it feels very secure. I have owned three SUVs (MB, Jeep x2) and the Honda is the best value and fit.

  • So fun to drive!! - 2006 Honda Pilot

I downsized from a 2004 Suburban to my 2006 Pilot. I have previously owned a Civic and an Accord, and have longed for the day that I could get out of the "bus" and get back into a Honda. With a large family, I thought I would be waiting several more years to be able to achieve this, but the Pilot fits perfectly!! Admittedly, I did give up cargo room, but the only time we ever need it is on vacation, and I just couldnt see driving the "bus" around the other 51 weeks out of the year. I was initially scared of the mixed reviews on the mpg, but I got 14 mpg in the city in the Suburban and at this point, any improvement is welcome. Im just thrilled with my new Honda Pilot. Dont miss it!!

We had an 03 Pilot 4wd with 50,000. Totally truouble free, but so many more features on the 06 with no extra cost! Especially like the new safety features, the voice navigation (with great voice calendar option) the sliding third row so taller kids can now be comfortable in back, etc... We are not yet getting comparable mileage - used to get 17.5, now at 16, but only have 1500 miles on it so far.

  • Love it - 2006 Honda Pilot

we love this car- great layout inside, plenty of room even with the 3rd row up. Even I have sat in the 3rd row without too much discomfort (Im 5 ft 4 in), but would not want to do it on a regular basis. Best for kids. But all the rows have a recline feature for the seats, the middle can be moved up and back as well. Not anything negative from our point of view.

Very happy with purchased the Pilot. Went into the dealer thinking wed prefer a CRV, but after driving the Pilot, are extremely satisfied with our decision to upgrade. Did LOTS of research.

I purchased a 2006 Pilot LX AWD during the Honda year end clearance. I like this vehicle very much. I also own a Honda Civic so I am familar with the Honda vehicles. We recently took a 600 mile trip and I average 23 - 24 MPG. This was done by driving in the 60 - 65 mile per hour range. This is my first 4x4 and I like the way the Pilot drives and feel on the road.

The only thing that would be nice is better fuel economy. But I understand as this is a big SUV. Love everything about it.
