Changes to the 2006 Honda Pilot SUV include standard side curtain airbags for all three rows and freshened headlight, taillight and wheel designs. A maintenance minder system has also been added to all Pilots. The optional navigation system now has a 7-inch screen and a reverse-parking assist camera. The EX trim level now has standard foglights this year, and EXs with leather seating get standard XM Satellite Radio. Also new this year is a front-wheel-drive Pilot with Honda's fuel-saving Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) feature for its V6 engine. Finally, stated power output for the Pilot's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Great vehicle. - 2006 Honda Pilot
By rrm151 - July 27 - 7:53 amI wanted a vehicle that would comfortably seat 4 adults and still have room for 4 golfbags and luggage for a long weekend. The Pilot meets all my needs. Golfbags fit easily, even between the wheel wells. The ride is very comfortable. Owned it just 3 days so far. I do have a defect in the radio LCD display. If you buy one, make sure you look at the radio with your sunglasses on. There is a defect in a polarization layer on some radio displays. Other than the radio display, its perfect.

By drbdab1 - June 26 - 9:20 pmPrimarily bought for my wife, currently we have 12000 miles on the pilot and have had no problems. Great features such as the leather seats, DVD, AWD, and definitely a bargain compared to what other SUVs cost and charge extra for.

The best SUV for the price - 2006 Honda Pilot
By Sam - December 18 - 10:06 pmI was very much set to buy a Volvo XC90 or an Acura MDX for my wife. I decided to listen to a friend and test drive the Pilot. I drove it on the highway and on the streets. I drove it at high speed (over 90/mph)and curvy roads. I drive a lot for work, I was very very impressed by this SUV. It handles well. You have a good view of the road. The ride is smooth and most importantly she loves it!

great new car - 2006 Honda Pilot
By Flyboy - May 24 - 3:06 pmWe traded our surburban for a black/grey leather pilot w/ nav. The fit and finish of the car is excellent. The seats are very comfortable. The controls are well placed but I would have liked to see the turn signal lever 1 or 2 inches lower. The nav system is excellent. Better then in my plane. The voice activation works well and with a little practice the key phrases will become intuitive. The stereo is excellent, and far superior to the surburban. The ride is very comfortable and there is not much wind noise from the sunroof. We ordered the crossbars and running boards which are black and go well with the exterior. The dealer was A+ and delivered the car in impeccable condition.

Atrocious Gas Mileage (13 - 15 City) - 2006 Honda Pilot
By John Knox - May 3 - 11:50 pmOverall we are a little disappointed with our Honda Pilot EX=L. This is our first Japanese vehicle - recently converting from domestic vehicles due to excessive ongoing maintenance costs, and being persuaded by the constant rave reviews of Japanese cars by the Motoring media. Gas mileage is not even close to what they claim - even with variable cylinder management. The transmission cannot handle city driving - making it necessary to drive around in 3rd gear unless on the highway. Also, ride is not that great - very truck like. On a positive note, the fit and finish is pretty good (although we did have a broken grab handle on delivery)and the interior is spacious and comfortable.

The Humming Pilot - 2006 Honda Pilot
By Ward - March 18 - 4:03 amWe really looked forward to purchasing this 2006 Pilot. It is a very nice vehicle; HOWEVER, it has a very loud humming noise w/ vibration coming from the front end. After we have made several trips to the dealer we have found out Honda has this problem with quite a few 2 WD 2006 models. They are unable to identify the problem so we are stuck with a very annoying noise and vibration that comes and goes. Hondas answer " no solution yet". I would discourage anyone from purchasing this vehicle until Honda identifies and comes up with a solution for this.

Decent suv - 2006 Honda Pilot

It is reasonably roomy with 8 people and drives verry smooth. If you are a person seeking a roomy suv, with comfort, fuel economy, size, and logic, this is the way to go.

2006 AWD Pilot - 2006 Honda Pilot
By Rob - June 2 - 2:13 pmWe purchased our 2006 Pilot in November of 05, so we only have 2,000 miles on it. That said, we really like the Pilot. The ride is very smooth for a SUV and the features you get for the money are great. The build quality of our Pilot is excellent, the materials used are all nice, and our previous experience with Honda cars & vans has been good too. We wish the mileage was a little better, but we like the quick acceleration so we live with the trade off. The in dash XM radio is another favorite feature. AWD system works well in snow. Our insurance jumped up $35 a month compared to the Honda Odyssey we traded-in so check your insurance costs before you buy. Overall, a great SUV!

2006 LX - 2006 Honda Pilot
By DanC - February 23 - 4:10 pmWeve had our 2006 for about a month. Overall we find it to be a solid and easy to drive vehicle. It has all of the features that we need and plenty of room. A rattle in the suspension and an annoying vibration during acceleration detract from our enjoyment of the vehicle. Hopefully these can be corrected on the first service visit.

Think before you buy - 2006 Honda Pilot
By Robert - February 2 - 1:13 amOverall a very good SUV. My major complaint is the poor legroom. Honda put a 3rd seat in the back, and the front legroom was shortened. I am tall, and cant come close to stretching out my legs on either the drivers or passenger side. A long trip would be a strain. This car is for my Wife, and she fits fine. There are also air leaks around the doors, and the inside is noisy. It will go back to the dealer soon for repair.
