  • clunking on front wheel - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

We bought the vehicle almost a year ago and about 2k miles into owning starting getting a knocking sound when reversing. Took to Honda multiple times and no issues found. Took it in today mind you vehicle has 12k miles. Now they are saying brake pads are moving back and forth and thats what the sound is. I asked them to fix and they said there is no fix its not mechanical issue either so wont be covered. Not very happy with it since you buy Honda for reliability and I understand no one is perfect but to not fix the issue is pretty upsetting.

  • Infotainment system is a disgrace! - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

    1. No Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Honda wont even tell owners why their $40,000+ flagship doesnt have these features when their Accord & Civic do. Honda ignores all inquiries regarding this. 2. Incoming or outgoing Bluetooth phone calls are dropped if either right or rear camera is started; as in lane change or reverse gear. 3. Bluetooth voice commands are very unreliable. 4. USB audio fails to start 1 out of 4 times on ignition turn on. 5. USB audio status not saved; restarts at 1st folder if ignition turned off. 6. USB audio has no Pause or Play buttons.

  • A/V and transmission problems - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

I really love this vehicle, but have had some major issues that are starting to cast a shadow over the reliability of Honda. I feel that they pushed to get this vehicle on the market to fast. There are still major bugs that need to be worked out. My touch screen panel blacked out on me at about 3,000 miles. I also have had the transmission "chirping" problem due to radiator fluid leaking into the internal trans cooler. They replaced the transmission and flushed the coolant system. Was supposed to pick it up after two weeks...then it wouldnt start. Was told that they had to replace the whole push button transmission module. Finally got my car back after 21 days, most of this time was "waiting for parts" which I feel is ridiculous with they way things are overnighted now days.

  • Not what I expected from Honda - 2016 Honda Pilot

Terrible radio, sounds like a 1980 car Low miles per gallon on Econ. Terrible customer service and resolution to problems, after 6 months STILL no solution on radio issue.

  • 2016 Touring AWD with Options - 2016 Honda Pilot

Overall I think this is a great vehicle.Yes as many have read there are some issues with Radio sound. Stations go in and out, takes a long time to load music from BT, Sub seems to stay one volume even though you turn it all the way up. It is a dissapointment that Honda did not have Apple car play or Android Auto connectivity to Radio since this is a 2016 and all of its other 2016 vehicles have it. I have had my Touring for 2 1/2 months and had no issues, I drove From NY to AZ and back again. The Navigation is really good.It new accidents and let you know ahead of time and it was almost impossibe to miss a turn because of the split screen which shows the Road signs.Awesome feature. I have almost 8000 miles and have had no issues. Gas milege was great. Just in town I was getting 23 mpg.Thats good for a SUV. On my road trip I was averaging 28 mpg when speed limit was 65-70 on cruise. Over that cruise control and all its guiding features was set to 79 and I was getting around 24-25 with 4 kids, my wife and me, 4 suitcases(third row split double seat folded down) my daughter sat in the single seat third row. The Sensors on the front bumber can get annoying when in parking lot or just parking. Mine registers close objuct aroud 8 inches so when your turning in to a parking space and ther is a car parked it usually goes off. I didnt pay the option for rear bumber sensors. The Side mirrors are great. I wish it had a warning of some kind for the driver. Some competitors have lights that flash or beep. This does not. Road noise was good but wind noise is noticable more. Its still quieter than some newer 2013-14 vehicles ive driven. Warrenty is great. It was $1300 for additional 5 year and 84000 mies. So I have 8 years 120,000 mile warrenty. Its hard to get a deal on Touring and above. Just to get one you have to wait. It took me a week. I was in the right place at the right time. A lot of people have to wait months. Most Pilots still sell at MSRP. I paid 42,500 but got hitch and cooler package for free. I just asked. I did add Lighted rails, mud flaps, chrome strips on doors and rear, window guards, and color match door protectors for a cost. I also had Honda under spray a coating under the vehicle to protect from Rust from salt from the snow, Its guaranteed for 10 years and it cost $800 so I thought it was a good investment. Next year Im sure most of the disliked issues will be resolved but this is what us customers get since we want to be the New Vehicles on the block. I would recommend this 2016 Honda Pilot Touring. If you dont need 8 seats go for the Elite.

  • Transmission Issues BEWARE! - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

We have had our Pilot Elite since August 2015. In the past month out of nowhere, we are also experiencing the chirping noise and shifting issue between 20-30 MPH. There are also issues with shifting and jerkiness at other speeds and the cruise control constantly fluctuates and jerks. We took the vehicle in to the dealer today and they admitted that this his a frequent issue they are seeing with the Elite and Touring models. They are going to put us in a rental and replace the transmission. I am not happy that my car that is barely a year old has to have a new transmission. We have always been Honda owners and have NEVER had a problem with our cars. This is beyond disappointing. I intend to contact American Honda and voice my concerns and open a case. If there are any further problems after this transmission is replaced, I will expect Honda to replace the vehicle. Other than issue we have loved the vehicle up until now.

  • I need it, loved it & hate it - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

I need this car for haul my growing family around. I knew the good and bad before purchasing & for a while I loved it because it is very functional. Until the transmission (6-speed) gave temperature warning in the middle of a camping trip. I will be taking it in soon to get it checked out. The goods: plenty of seats, MPG is awesome compare to other vehicle in class & all the technology is good even for an EX model. The bads: infotainment screen is useless in direct sunlight, touch screen is very hard to use while the car is moving, armrest is uncomfortable, Bluetooth takes SIX buttons push to change connected phone, voice command is none functional, very hard to jump start because engine cover & placement of the battery. Mother of all problems, the transmission overheats!!!!

  • Blue gean colored seats - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

For one, the service department could not notice the mild hesitation the suv had in easy takeoffs. Second was the cloth seat absorbed the color of the blue & black geans. Even though i had the xylon protection service added to the suv. The warranty to clean the seat sucked because the color didnt come off.

  • good but needs some work - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

horrid entertainment system - sound quality goes up and down randomly. Occasional crackling sound can be heard in the speakers. No known fix. Brakes squeak. After refueling, smell of gasoline in the cabin for several miles before dissipating. Drafty for front passenger. Cabin control doesnt fine tune - heat is on it is hot. No ability to reduce slightly. Seat heaters are on/off also (no such thing as low/hi) Very disappointed with Honda service - unable to troubleshoot or fix any of the problems. Despite all this issues, it is still a good vehicle and fun to drive. I also own an Accord and Odyssey. Odyssey still better for family (3 kids) but Pilot has much better turn radius and has done well in snow/ice this winter. Overall, great vehicle to drive - much better than the previous SUV I had (97 Explorer). I just expected more from Honda than what I get in service.
