Overview & Reviews
Changes to the 2006 Honda Pilot SUV include standard side curtain airbags for all three rows and freshened headlight, taillight and wheel designs. A maintenance minder system has also been added to all Pilots. The optional navigation system now has a 7-inch screen and a reverse-parking assist camera. The EX trim level now has standard foglights this year, and EXs with leather seating get standard XM Satellite Radio. Also new this year is a front-wheel-drive Pilot with Honda's fuel-saving Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) feature for its V6 engine. Finally, stated power output for the Pilot's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.
- Roomy interior with eight-passenger seating, versatile storage and cargo-hauling abilities, many standard features, comfortable ride, smooth power delivery.

So Far So Good - 2006 Honda Pilot
By Pat M - April 17 - 2:27 pmLeased in June 2006. So far so good. Very reliable. Only oil change maintenance. No major problems or repair work. Except for a bad back speaker that the service dept said there was nothing wrong with...it still isnt fixed. Currently deciding if I should purchase after lease ends July 2009.

Beware Front Seat Back Cover - 2006 Honda Pilot
By starfortune - March 24 - 3:53 pmWe bought the Pilot new in 06 and started to have problems with the rear speaker--got it replaced but took 2 visits. The the tire sensor kept giving a code so the truck had to be taken in several times before they figured out the problem. The vehicle gives very good gas mileage on the average of 22 miles of combined city/highway driving. The ride is smooth and road noise doesnt seem to be a problem. Our main problem has been the front seat back cover which has fallen off 5-6 times in the past 1 1/2 years which entails multiple trips to the dealer for replacement. They dont understand the problem and neither do I. Honda America was of no help so this Honda may be the last one.

Great vehicle - 2006 Honda Pilot
By Bruce - March 18 - 9:32 amGreetings to all, this is my first purchase of a vehicle from Japan and I have to say this "Ill never buy anything else" again. My wife and I both love this vehicle, I am 62" & my wife is 52" we both fight over who is driving this vehicle on the next long trip! She hated my Jeep! Oh well, Honda & Toyota have it going on and the & Camry was the other choice, I went with the Pilot due to my size and the ease of entry for me. The Camry was a lot quieter though at 100MPH, yeah, I live in Germany right now & love the Autobhan here!! :) Ciao

Great cruiser & good mileage - 2006 Honda Pilot
By highmiles01623 - March 11 - 8:40 amI drive a lot, almost all highway and what a great highway cruiser this is. Plenty of room for my 3 kids and then some, great for vacation and still gets 20MPG at 75MPH. Feels incredibly safe and well built. VERY smooth ride. Basic cloth on EX is gorgeous so passed on the leather, which saves 2-4K. And with a price under $29K, a tremendous value.

About as perfect an SUV as you can get - 2006 Honda Pilot
By Timus - February 5 - 1:09 pmIve had my Pilot 2006 AWD for about 4 months now. It replaced a Nissan Titan so Im not as squeamish about the mileage as others are. To me the mileage is pretty good and I drive 80 miles a day round trip and fill up about once a week on average. I was buying a half tank a day in the Titan!!! I have a family of 6 so we need the room and the third row is a necessity. Everyone who rides in it is surprised by how roomy it is inside. Its all Dr. Who Tardisy in there. Way bigger inside than it looks on the outside.

Great 8 Passenger Compromise - 2006 Honda Pilot
By Charlie1009 - July 23 - 12:10 pmOur Pilot is a great compromise between a mini-van and a large SUV. We wanted three rows of seating, with enough room in the third to accomodate teens for rides of up to one hour. Handling and ride are car-like, ergonomics are good, interior design is simple and attractive and the vehicle is comfortable for 4-6 persons, at least long enough to get everyone to sports practice. Six-airbag setup was a must and is standard. Mileage with the Pilot is merely OK (17 mpg in town and 24 mpg at a steady 80 mph. If you regularly haul more than 5 for long periods of time, look at a larger minivan instead.

Horrible On Gas! - 2006 Honda Pilot
By John - July 5 - 2:55 pmI read all these great reviews about the Honda pilot having good gas mileage for its size, well guess what? NOT TRUE! Horrible! 10 - 12 miles in the winter city driving, and 13-14 in the summer city driving. On the highway I would get about 18 mpg. Where did they get 18 city and 24 hwy? I had it for not even 2 years and got rid of it. Im not here to only insult the gas mileage. it was reliable and I had no problems with it. The Japanese still have a lot of work when it comes to the mid-size suv segment. More torque than horsepower! Is it that hard for Honda to do that? Apparently yes. I guess they should stick to small lightweight cars. Up next for me? Definitely not the 09 Pilot

One of the "Best" Autos Ive owned. - 2006 Honda Pilot
By Ray - May 27 - 9:28 amThe only Problem Ive had is the back of the front seat keeps falling off. (Six times in 27 months the car has been back to the dealer to replace/repair this issue.) I hope this will be resolved soon as the 3 yr./36,000 mi. warranty is up.
