  • Dont get a flat on your touring! - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

Honda dealers dont yet have the tires for this vehicle in stock! Our touring has been running on the "doughnut" spare for a week now. The dealer ordered the tire and told us it would be here in a week. They just called and told us that it will be another week due to "backordered" or some foolishness. This will make 2 weeks my wife has had to ride on this cheap spare...not really comfortable with that. They choose a tire that NO ONE carries, dealers or locally. Seriously no one can get tires for this vehicle without ordering. Our dealer Moss Motors has been less than helpful, not even bothering to return a call as promised. Come on Honda! Regretting our new vehicle choice at the moment.

  • Down hill from 2005 pilot - 2016 Honda Pilot

Former owner 2005 pilot my wife loved 2005 pilot and took better than excellent care of it Honda offered a offensive trade in value of $5000 on a new 2016 pilot, even after bring offended with trade in offer and because my wife liked the pilot we had for over 11 years I went ahead and bought the 2016 pilot and gave the 2005 pilot to my daughter. I knew the 2016 pilot was not equipped as well as most other makes in same price range, what didnt know was how poor the quality and function of included equipment is! Interior so called leather looks like cheap plastics, hands free phone system is a joke you cant understand what callers are saying, Honda put in new microphone (didnt help) would like to disable system so it wont interfere with cell phone, back seat entertainment is so difficult for children to use and requires someone in front to help, the kids use iPad instead, also there is no connection in back seat to recharge iPad has to be connected at front seat, Car is under powered if you use fuel economy feature, the only real complaint I had with 2005 pilot was road noise 2016 pilot is little or no better 11 years later, weather striping around doors is as flimsy and cheep as I have ever seen. I have only had car 31/2 months who knows how lt will go from here?

This may be early for a full review of my 2016 Honda Pilot Elite... it has less than 100 miles on it. I traded a 2013 Infiniti JX 35 on the Pilot and the Honda is very much the equal of the Infiniti in almost all matters. The Infiniti has a higher quality leather on the seats, in my opinion, and a little more chrome on the exterior, but the Honda is equal or better in everything else. The seats are comfortable, the drivers position good, the acceleration and ride very good, and the fit and finish excellent. There is so much storage and so many cup holders that I dont know if anyone will ever use all of them. I like the touch screen and dont know why some people complain that the radio doesnt have tactile controls/knobs. There are radio controls on the steering wheel! The Bluetooth connectivity is easily done and performs very well. The safety tech is great except for the peculiar decision by Honda to have the adaptive cruise control disengage when speeds drop to 20 mph or less. Some things I dont like. The brakes are a bit soft, the steering wheel telescopic adjustments are done only manually, the second row windows are not one touch up and down, and, as mentioned above, the adaptive cruise control disengages at around 20 mph. It seems to me that this could be dangerous if the driver isnt paying attention. In the limited driving that we have done, we are impressed with the Honda Pilot. It "feels" solid. We have not experienced the lurching that others have stated they feel from the 9 speed transmission as the car is slowing to a stop. In fact, the transmission is very smooth during acceleration and deceleration. The ingress and egress of the vehicle are both accomplished easily. All in all, we have been pleased with the initial quality of our 2016 Honda Pilot Elite and hope that it continues to perform well and the MPG improves as the car "breaks in".

  • Infotainment is Terrible - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

All Pilots come without a CD player – something that sales people should point out! It costs about $280 to have Honda add one. I had Honda add one. I drive a lot and listen to books on CD while I drive. It is important to me that the car remember where the CD left off when I turn off the car. That way it will continue the story when I start driving again. About 10-20% of the time the car forgets where it was and starts the CD from the beginning. Ive owned 4 Toyotas and this has never happened with any of them. Otherwise, the infotainment system is a mess. It is not at all intuitive. It is difficult or impossible to operate with gloves on (I live in northern NY and it is cold in the winter). The voice commands are finicky. It forgot all the speed dial numbers that I manually entered! The infotainment display occasionally gets stuck - an obvious software bug. As for the rest of the car, it downshifts too far when accelerating quickly. I pull a boat and admittedly, the car is good at that. The drivers seat is comfortable but the drivers seat arm rest tilts down at an odd angle and is next to worthless. The battery is inaccessible - I cannot use the car to jump start my tractor! In short, this could be a good car but it is plagued with a series of small but annoying design flaws and software bugs.

  • Acceptable but not great - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

My wife and I went out to try what was available. We went with the Elite trim to get most of the features we wanted. We have a path we drive with all vehicles so it is and Apple to Apple review. The ride was harsher than I expected and the acceleration was disappointing. The road noise was higher than I expected on the interstate. The small detail that caused us to eliminate the Pilot was at the Elite trim level the second row seat option is captains chairs only. We wanted a bench.

  • Very pleased 16 Pilot owner - 2016 Honda Pilot

After putting over 1300 miles mostly from a road trip, I am very pleased with our decision to go with the 2016 Honda Pilot Touring. The push button shifter took a while to get used to, but I think I have a hang of it. Things I like so far: -Lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control were really amazing on the highway. Cant ever imagine driving without these features on long stretches of highway. -Snappy infotainment system. Was easily able to access my iPhone music & folders. -Very comfortable front and second row seats. -Easy access to third row seats. -Pretty decent gas mileage for a vehicle its size. Idle stop works well, pretty amazed at how smooth it is. -9 speed transmission is very smooth. I have heard of plenty complaints from reviews, but I have had no issues. -Driver seat setting memory. -Low road noise, well, at least compared to the CR-V and Civic that we had. -HDMI port means that I can play videos from my iPhone to the rear entertainment system (it has been a while since I last purchased a physical movie disc). Things I do not like: -No blind spot monitoring, which is only available on the Elite model. Pretty ridiculous, considering how prevalent it is in some of the more basic trims of other automakers. -Infotainment system crashed a couple of times, though it was quickly able to reboot almost instantaneously. -Unable to input navigation unless vehicle comes to a stop. I understand there is the safety concern, but there are times it is the front passenger not the driver that is accessing the navigation. -Voice command for navigation is terrible. Will probably never use it again. -Touch control interface works well except for volume, which can be a pain to quickly adjust. -Remote control from rear entertainment system seems very outdated. While there is an HDMI port in the vehicle, there is no HDMI option listed on the remote. -Cargo space behind 3rd row is small.
