  • So far, so good - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

Have about 500 miles on the car so far. The entire family likes it. It replaced an Infiniti JX35, and everyone likes it better that that car. We have none of the radio, bluetooth or shifting problems mentioned by other 2016 Pilot owners (yet?). The radio is fine; in fact, it is better than average. Ditto for the nine-speed tranny. Works great - and much better than Infinitis CVT. Adequately powered. Good gas mileage. And it takes regular gas. The car is quiet. Well soundproofed, with acoustic glass. Very little wind noise, engine noise or tire noise. Every seat is comfortable. Plenty of storage, including storage behind the third seats. I was expecting to hate the entertainment system / user interface, but I dont. I wish it had volume knobs, but it has a permanent volume "touch slider" that is relatively easy to find, plus volume knobs on the steering wheel. And it is very easy to program-in favorite programs, which are then readily accessible. HVAC system has separate, permanent, easy to find and use controls. Plenty of USB ports. Steering is much more precise than the Infiniti, which felt like it had a rubber band connected between the steering wheel and front wheels. Infiniti liked to wander everywhere, except in a straight line (and the Infinitis "loose" steering made it tiresome to keep it going in a straight line). Pilot tracks straight. As for technology, it has virtually everything except 360 degree, birds eye view cameras. Im not a big fan of the push-button shifter, but I expect it just takes time to get used to it. I cant speak to reliability of dealer service yet. I will update the review at a later time.

  • FM RADIO fades in and out constantly! - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

First off I was told Android auto would work with the 2016 Honda pilot which was not true and secondly the FM radio fades in and out constantly no matter what frequency that you have it on. Its no reception issue. Its not the speed value control. I have taking back to the dealer twice and they cant do anything until Honda Corporation figure it out?

  • crap entertainment and touch screen - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

Do not buy this unless if you can live with crap entertainment system. Very poor metal cone like sound, smudge touch screen. Biggest issue is entertainment turns off when we stop engine from running. When starting engine, all blue ray unit will start the track from beginning. These vehicles are use for long trips. when having a break and starting again, blue ray also start running from beginning. My family hate this thing. Also would you believe it can only play USB drive when only engine is not running. Soon as engine starts, it says cannot read. Very poor quality.

  • Total miss for Moms - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

I love just about everything about my Pilot. Lots of room on the inside, comfortable, good storage. However, they missed a couple of VERY VERY VERY important features for a busy, distracted mom. 1) The bluetooth is more of a pain than it is worth. You are limited on dialing while driving - I spend lots of time in stop and go traffic, and that is when I make my calls, but I have to use my phone to make the calls, then transferring over is dicey on whether or not it works. 2) The touchscreen is good in theory, but doesnt translate well to driving and trying to use it. 3) The Pilot also does not have volume knob. It may seem like a small detail, but if you hear a funny sound coming from the kids in the back, and you need IMMEDIATE silence, you wont get it with the Pilot. You dont realize how often you need your radio muted, until you drive this car and realize that you have to hit the volume "area", and then get your finger on the TINY mute button, all the while you have a child puking in your back seat. Or you can choose to use the steering wheel control, and hit the down arrow 47 times. Either way, it is a total nuisance. Had I know this before, I would NOT have bought the car. Its THAT important. My husband thought I was being dramatic, then we took the Pilot on a 3 hour trip. At the end, he agreed the entire touch screen was worthless, and the muting is a real problem.

  • Watch Out -- Lemons are out there - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

Purchased my 2016 Pilot LX in late July -- what a mistake ; after 300 miles heard a popping noise in chassis / suspension when backing out and steering to move forward - very pronounced; brought in for service and the service rep said it was a bushing; well it re-occurred -- now 1500 miles and it is in the shop again -- guess what -- was told that Honda is aware of the problem BUT while no TSB is out , Honda mechanics tried another fix with the drivers side wheel assembly and frame ... will see how this holds up in a month. Otherwise, the LX remains a very good vehicle ... just that after owning my share of American cars in the 60s and 70s where it was the norm to visit the dealership within a week oe two for defective issues, I have gotten "spoiled" in owning good foreign cars where a visit to the shop is only for scheduled maintenance. Update 12/15/2016- the popping noise has returned -- so much for Honda Quality unless totally built in Japan.

  • Buy this car - now! - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

Just picked up 16 Touring. This thing is sick. I cant believe the negatives reviews on the tranny! Are you people nuts? Stop overthinking and just drive the damn car. The 9-speed is sweet. The touch screen is sweet. Who cares about fingerprints. The touch is seamless and responds beautifullly. No hard knob to control volume? Anyone who cares about that is too old to appreciate modern tech. Thats akin to complaining about not having a CD player. The Garmin looks nice but I just use Waze via Bluetooth. No I dont get the graphic but the turn prompts suffice and if they dont I can just look down to see whats up. Waze is just so much better than any Nav. Search capabilities are remarkable and who doesnt want to know about 5-0 up ahead? Bluetooth integration is perfect. Streaming The Dead through Pandora never sounded so good. Leather is very nice and I simply love this car. Technology is slick, although my prior car was a 2005 Acura RL, so Ive had proximity sensors for key fob for quite some time. People, dont buy a Highlander...dont buy a Grand Idiot Cherokee (way more off-road capability than most of the chumps buying it would ever even begin to know how to use)...dont buy a Yukon (unless you bought a boat you cant afford); buy a Pilot (2016 that is- the prior ones sucked). If youre intelligent and want a sick family SUV to make memories in, buy this car now! You can thank me later.

  • Great except transmission and load engine noise - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

This is our 3rd Honda Pilot Touring. We jumped on this as soon as they came out. Big mistake! The car is nice except the loud engine noise while idling and the 9 speed transmission. I have taken this in twice to see if it is a problem but its how its supposed to be. Slow speed shifting is horrible, very jumpy and your neck goes back and forth trying to accelerate. Its so bad I actually have the car up for sale after 2 months of owning it. This will be the last Honda I will own for a very long time. My suggestion is if you like the car get the 6 speed automatic and skip the 9 speed.

  • Pilot Elite Takes Taps Safety Technology - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

I have owned many, many vehicles, and hands down the 2016 Honda Pilot Elite is a joy to drive. It takes some practice and getting used to. Its superior navigation and entertainment systems, technology, handling, convenience features, and responsiveness all combine to make this vehicle one of the safest vehicles on the road and the Pilot Elite - all around - is the best vehicle I have ever owned.
