This Year's Model Updates:

Following a complete redesign last year, the 2009 Honda Accord carries over unchanged, though the V6's official engine output is up a smidge after further testing revealed slightly more power than previously measured.

Pros:
  • Ample passenger space, high-quality interior, above-average steering feel, high resale value, available coupe body style.
Cons:
  • Intrusive road noise, button-heavy center stack, some find seats uncomfortable.

  • So far, so good - 2009 Honda Accord

I have had the car for a year now. Any complaints dealer fixed. No brake problems. Seats are uncomfortable. I bought some sheepskin covers which are real thick and it seem to help. Fluttering noise in air conditioner checked filter etc, road noise is a problem, someone mentioned better tires, dunlaps dont get it.

  • Great car from a distance - 2009 Honda Accord

Purchased this as my 4th Accord and may not buy another after it. Started out pleased, became disappointed quickly. Brakes have 2 speeds - slow and leave rubber on the road. Seat on this later and higher model adjusts less than my 99 did, not good for a short person. Rear window glass can be wavy, auto-adjust rear mirror doesnt adjust to rising/setting sun and can be blinding. Mileage is also disappointing. Paint is chipping all over the car and Honda has denied any problem.

Brought this car with 16,900 miles.Drove it from Houston to Nebraska. Was Impressed by the performance.Great Interior Finish and quality. Smooth and Sporty drive. Not even 1% of regret for my choice.

  • Solid coupe, honda quality - 2009 Honda Accord

Traded an 03 Accord with 3.0 V-6 for an09 EXL, 2.4, 190 HP. No complaints other than MPG could be better. The 4 cyl. has almost as much performance as one could hope for, but passed on the 3.7 V6 (overkill). I miss the 240 HP, 3 liter, a sweet engine. Why is Honda making the V6 larger and more powerful? A 2.8-2.9 V6 with 240 HP would be perfect for this car, and be a lot "greener".

  • Aside from the brakes - 2009 Honda Accord

At 31,000 miles, my rear brake pads need to be replaced. Most of the miles are the car are highway miles, so this really is unacceptable. The Honda dealer only reluctantly shared the information regarding the class action suit and only after I kept questioning them on why the rear pads were already bad. Aside from this, I really do like the car and enjoy driving it.

  • Early brake failure - 2009 Honda Accord

I am very disappointed at the brake life on this car. At 19,000 miles, driven 70% on interstates, I had to have the front rotors turned and new brake pads installed on rear. Fortunately there is some compensation via the class action suit settled by Honda to offset some expenses. In contrast the 05 Camry I traded for this car had no brake problems and had almost 50% brake pad wear at 70,000 miles. Definitely a design black mark for Honda.

  • Didnt know what was wrong until now - 2009 Honda Accord

Former 1998 Civic owner---loved it for 160,000 miles! Upgraded to new 09 Accord in July, 09. Fine car but Ive been unable to pinpoint why I havent been thrilled with purchase. Seats extremely uncomfortable for 5,3". Rear window around auto-defroster splotchy. Less than 20 mpg city 29 mpg highway not bad though. No brake problems at 12,000 miles. Car idles rough. Stalled for no apparent reason approaching red light (auto transmission). Thinking about going back to Civic. Dont know if I should go with a 2011 or wait for 12 redesign. Not sure what I expected but I have not had the same satisfaction I experienced for 11 yrs w/1998 Civic. Maybe bigger is not always better.

  • 20K miles and 15 months later - 2009 Honda Accord

My Accord is a terrific city car and once I figured out that I had to adjust my seat to be more straight backed than I had been used to, the seat became more comfortable for longer drives. The car remains solid, I have not yet had the rear brake problems others have noted and my overall gas mileage is around 25 MPG, not bad. This car handles beautifully for a fwd sedan, but the road noise is noticeable, Honda can do better. Overall, I really like this car but the seats and the road noise keep me from completely loving it. Build quality is excellent, there are absolutely no squeaks or rattles. I can tell this car will wear well over the years.

  • Plus and Minus - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

I have owned this car for 2 years. The positive is that it handles well on all road surfaces including ice/snow. Mileage is almost the same on the highway as my 2003 Cadillac SLS at slightly over 26 mpg. The seats are terrible. After 3 hours, my legs and back ache. I can put up with the user unfriendly center panel controls but am ready to sell due to the seats. I test drove the Accord for 2 hours prior to purchase. Wish I had driven it another hour. The A/C is barely able to keep up with 90 degree outside temps.

  • Recommend this car for performance - 2009 Honda Accord

I purchased this vehicle a year ago and work with the same dealer, in Michigan,I have worked with over 15 years-Honda Bloomfield-these folks just get better and better! The 2009 Honda Accords traction in winter snow and ice is phenomenal-best Ive ever driven. I count on reliability in any car I drive and this vehicle provides outstanding reliability. Seating comfort needs to be upgraded and the road noise needs to be reduced to bring this vehicle to near perfect for a "smooth ride." I reliably get 33.3 miles a gallon in this 2009 Honda Accord.
