This Year's Model Updates:

Freshened exterior styling debuts on the 2001 Honda Accord, with a more aggressive-looking front fascia and hood and a new taillight design. Honda also ups the safety features list, making dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags standard and side airbags available on all models. All Accords now either meet or exceed California's low-emission vehicle (LEV) standards (some Accords meet ULEV standards, and one model sold in California is rated SULEV). Improvements aimed at reducing road and wind noise have been made, while EX models get a standard in-dash six-disc CD changer, and all V6 models come with traction control. Midyear, a DX four-banger equipped with a special value package debuted, adding an automatic transmission, air conditioning, a CD player, floor mats, fake wood interior accents and special exterior trim.

Pros:
  • Great build quality, spacious interior, peppy yet clean engines, comfortable seats, excellent resale value, reputation for bulletproof reliability.
Cons:
  • Everybody drives one, personality of Al Gore, taut highway ride.

  • I loved my Accord - 2001 Honda Accord

I got a "lemon" my honda has had 5 transmissions, the driver window wont roll down anymore, lots of electrical issues. My car only has 155,000 miles on it and its way too much to fix now its having engine problems.

I purchased this car in 2008 from a friend who was the second owner. I drive this car like crazy around town and have put on over 100k miles in the last few years. My car now has about 220k miles and is still running great. The clutch still hasnt needed to be replaced. Have had to do the normal maintenance on it like belts, spark plugs, tires, battery, brakes and of course the AC, but that goes for any old car. Yeah the windows dont even roll down any more, but thats because both windows had been broken into and had to be replaced by first and second owners. I honestly think this car can go at least another 100k if I continue to take good care of it!!!

  • Im going to keep it - 2001 Honda Accord

We bought this car in 2002 with 19K. It now has 124K. We have done oil changes, major services, breaks, tires and that is it. This car goes where ever we need it to. I know this car will go another 200K if taken care of. We have been very happy with this. When it is time to get a new car I will purchase another Honda Accord.

  • Probably Best Looking accord, but otherwise mediocre. - 2001 Honda Accord

Im not going to talk about reliability, because that is assumed, demanded and granted for this brand of car. A/C motor is weak, My kids R/C car has more power!!! Battery cables suck, they corrode like nobodys business, even if you put those inexpensive greasy, fuzzy red and green washers on the terminals. Front seats give you back pain, butt pain, and are incahoots with an unforgiving suspension. Seats on my 5th gen. 96 EX accord were much better. I have no idea what all these other reviewers are yapping about, but fuel economy is DEPLORABLE!!! Dealer replaced the transmission under warranty, but you wouldnt even expect Hondas design team to screw it up! Just knocking on wood now!

  • Well worth the price - 2001 Honda Accord

We bought our 2001 Accord with 19K on it. We have owned it for 10 years now. All we have done is the major services, oil changes, breaks and tires. It now has 93K on it and we fully expect it to go at least another 100K. We love this car. The only issue is in the fan for the heater there is a little rattle now but that is it.

  • UGH u DAMN TRANS - 2001 Honda Accord
    By -

I bought a 2001 Accord and noticed some slipping within the first week from the Trans. Brought it back and they replaced it. Start driving down the road and realize the Shifting in the car is worse than it was b4. Brought it back and now they are fixing it again. Honestly after reading all the reviews about how this car has major transmission problems, I may just return the car. Something in my gut tells me to return it now b4 the 30 days is up and then to get screwed.

  • Great Car.... when the transmission works. - 2001 Honda Accord
    By -

My vehicle had its transmission replaced at 53,000 miles (under the extended Honda warranty), it is now at 134,000 miles and is again in transmission failure. The extended Honda warranty does not cover vehicles over 100,000 miles even if they replaced the transmission themselves. Cost for a rebuild is $1800 $3500 for a new one. The car is great!, but in my case the transmissions have averaged around 60k miles before failure.

  • SUCH A GREAT CAR!!!!! - 2001 Honda Accord

this car is seriously the best car i have ever owned. it just turned over 240,000 miles and only ever needed its routine maintenance done and a new clutch. i have owned this car since it was new and it still drives like it did when it was straight out of the dealership! these cars had issues with the automatics so i would stick with the 5 speed. its much funner anyways. oh and this has been driven down back roads and dirt roads all its life, just had the allignment checked and it was totally perfect to spec! that is awsome!!!

  • 3rd Transmission about to go! - 2001 Honda Accord
    By -

I have owned this car for nearly 5 years, I bought it from a family friend and dealership owner. The car itself is a good automobile except we have replaced the transmission 3 times with used ones and yet again- this one is slipping REALLY bad. I called Honda to express my concerns but they have yet to recall these darn transmissions after numerous complaints. If you feel like your are the only person fighting the 2001 Accord Transmission problem, your not alone. My husband also a mechanic has several friends to rebuild it but literally our cost is $2500. If he were to do it himself, its around $2000. I had hoped in the mass recall would include this Accord but it didnt. FIGHT FIGHT!
