Model Overview:

Few vehicles from overseas manufacturers have garnered as much respect in North America as the Honda Accord. It hasn't achieved this status by being glamorous, sexy or thrilling. Instead, Honda just seems to have its finger on the pulse of what Americans value most. Take an Accord for a spin and you'll find it to be comfortable, roomy, intelligently engineered and easy to drive. It's also backed by strong resale value and a solid reputation for reliability.

You'll find that certain competing sedans and coupes are quicker, more prestigious or simply less expensive than the Accord. What's special about the Honda Accord, though, is its completeness. It scores well across a broader range of categories than practically any family-friendly sedan or coupe on the market. When examined from this holistic standpoint, it's easy to see why the Accord has become an automotive icon and remains one of our editors' top recommendations.

I bought my accord in my second year of college. I was replacing my 00 GMC Sonoma due to lots of traveling. When purchased Honda replaced its cursed transmission at the dealership for free. I have had no problems with this car but basic maintenance such as tires, timing belt, oil, adding 134-a, and brakes. I am currently at 142,XXX miles and the car still runs like new. The car is a blast to drive and can keep up with almost any current v6 car. The vTec system engages flawlessly and still impresses me for a 2.3 L SOHC motor. As for comfort, I am 250lbs and I am very comfortable for 500 mile road trips. Plenty of power for passing. Gas mileage 55 mph 34 mpg, 65 mph 28 mpg, 75 mph 22 mpg, 100+ 12- mpg

  • Great Car Unless you are over 511" - 2007 Honda Accord
    By -

When test driving, this car was exactly what I wanted. Very reliable (I had a Volvo that cost thousands of dollars a month in repairs), nice looking, safe. I planned on driving it forever. I am about 62" and it is clear after driving this car for 3 months that it is NOT designed to be comfortable for people over 511". When I drive the back of my leg is raised off the seat and requires me keep my leg elevated. I have tried every seat position and steering wheel adjustment and nothing works. Also, the brake pedal is in front of the gas pedal and requires me to lift my leg to move from one pedal to the other. This combination is extremely uncomfortable for tall drivers.

  • Best Drive Yet! - 2005 Honda Accord

Considering that this is my favorite car owned to date, Tenth on my list. I love to drive her daily. Second on my list is 2003 Nissan Maxima SE that was totaled prior to purchasing the Accord as a daily driver but it has out-performed everything else I have driven, I know first hand the weakness of Honda and addressed them after purchasing the car new, Brembo Sport rotors combined with Ceramic Pads makes the brakes grab when needed, coilovers and a thicker sway bar make her handle like a dream on tight turns and Bridgestone Potenzas hold her glued to the pavement. I am a true driver that takes hold of all of Honda technology, no complaints after five years.

  • Honda Peaked with this car - 1998 Honda Accord
    By -

IMO, this model is the apex of the accord. Excellent use of interior and trunk space, sensible but attractive design, good all around performance from the 150 hp 4. Well equipped and comfortable. Kids are getting too big to fit three across in the back, so need a larger car. only 103k and runs great. Paint bad, clear coat peeled, my only complaint. Expensive to repaint well, stay away from the forest green color. But i think Honda has gone downhill with the accord, making it larger, softer, and less attractive with each new iteration.

  • Best Used Car - 1997 Honda Accord

My 97 Honda has been a pretty good car. Ive had it for 4 years and it now has 150,000 miles. Right at 147,000 miles the A/C stopped blowing cold air. $500 to fix! The other day my door handle on the inside just broke off. The paint on every 97 Honda seems to rust off or something. It looks ugly. Ive had to replace the alternator, get a major tune-up, and I had an issue for a couple of years with the computer. It would stall out while driving all the time, just randomly. I had the Honda dealership fix that issue though which was like a $500 issue. My check engine like came on the other day too. There are a lot of repairs needed, but its old...has a lot of miles and has been a good car

  • Current Accord, Not your typical Honda - 2009 Honda Accord

As a long time owner of Hondas and Acuras, this car has been a great disappointment. Within the first year of ownership we have had to take it in to the dealer 9 times for repairs (not including the scheduled maintenance). Seven of the nine times related to interior parts, including the driver side sun visor spontaneously falling off and dangling in front of the driver. Two of the repairs were on the brakes. Honda is involved in a class action law suit regarding the rear break issue (Google it). The front brakes also had to be replaced this is a separate known issue for which there is a service bulletin. Ask the dealer about the break issues before purchasing this vehicle, I wish I did.

  • So far, so good - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

I have had the car for a year now. Any complaints dealer fixed. No brake problems. Seats are uncomfortable. I bought some sheepskin covers which are real thick and it seem to help. Fluttering noise in air conditioner checked filter etc, road noise is a problem, someone mentioned better tires, dunlaps dont get it.

Best car that I have ever owned. Hardly any maintenance, great gas mileage and always dependable. I have replaced the rear brake pads at 35,000 miles, new tires and a new battery and thats it in 6 years. The only drawback is that my tall husband hates getting into this car. The leg room in the passenger seat is very generous.
