This Year's Model Updates:

As the model was fully redesigned for the 2003 model year, there are only a few changes on the 2004 Honda Accord. Availability of side curtain airbags has been expanded this year to four-cylinder EX models -- standard on those with leather, optional on cars with a cloth interior. All four- and six-cylinder EX models equipped with a leather interior now have XM Satellite Radio with three months of free service as standard equipment. And as with all Honda cars this year, a new seatbelt reminder system is standard. Accord models meeting California's stringent Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) standards -- all four-cylinder sedans equipped with automatic transmission -- will also be sold in the states of New York, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts.

Pros:
  • Tight build quality, quiet cabin, refined and powerful engines, reputation for quality and durability, high crash test scores.
Cons:

Awesome vehicle. A far car from my previous 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue. Beautifully executed interior. Good power and handling and smooth ride.

  • Bad Gas Fuel Economy for my Accord - 2004 Honda Accord

Compared to my previous car was a Nissan Maxima. I love the soft quiet ride and the sound system is SUPERB. I love this version of the red color and the styling. The only thing stopping this from being a perfect car is the horrendous gas mileage ( I get between 14 to 16 MPG highway which is 80% of my driving). I learned from the Service Manager at the Dealer that is apparently a common problem with Accords which is contrary to the representations on the sticker and all the literature. To make it worse, I am told that fuel mileage is NOT COVERED by the warranty and for them to work on it could get very expensive fast. All this after spending $20K.

  • Why buy an Acura ? - 2004 Honda Accord

My friend drives a great Acura TL which I used to covet until I bought my much less expensive Accord. Ill match my Accords comfort, performance, and driving fun against the 2003 TL any day and Ill take the money I saved when purchasing and the money saved using regular rather than premium gas and buy a wide screen TV for my family room.

  • My first Honda Accord - 2004 Honda Accord

This is my first Honda Accord. Ive owned/leased Camrys and Altimas before and Im really impressed! We purchased the EX sedan with side curtain airbags. The ergonomics work very well for us older baby boomers (even the larger radio/clock displays are a nice touch). The only fault I can find with this car is this - Im kinda bottom heavy (ok, my wife says FAT) and the harder foam rubber "bolsters" puts too much pressure on my hips and make for an uncomfortable driving position. If it wasnt for that, its probably the best car of its type!!!

  • Beats the Camry SE or XLE Hands down - 2004 Honda Accord
    By -

Just bought 2004 EX with side curtain airbags (N/A on the 2003 Accord EX with cloth seats) for $22,999 out the door with all fees included. We also looked at a Camry SE and XLE, Hyundai Sonata. The Camry was closest, the Sonata is just a different class. The extra real life 7-8mpg, the 60% after 5 years resale value of the Honda sealed the deal. If you are looking at a 2003, look carefully at an ‘04. You get a new model year for a small bump in price and for us, the side curtain airbags (plus regular side airbags) were key. Ride is smooth and a bit more connected to the road than Camry.

  • Comfortable Commuter Car - 2004 Honda Accord
    By -

I bought this car used at 20K miles. I didnt bother getting the extended warranty and 25K miles later I have not needed it. his car provides a great balance between comfort, performance and economy. Only maint necessary before 101K miles is oil chg, tire rotation & brake pad replacement as needed. Dealership maint is affordable and has been a pleasant experience. I love the 7,500 mile interval between oil changes (only on the V6 though). The engine is smooth on acceleration and provides great hwy passing power. Avgs 22-24 mpg in mixed hwy & city driving. Overall, this is a great common sense car and is comparable to most entry level luxury cars.

  • Good, but not the best - 2004 Honda Accord
    By -

Hondas are known for their reliability and build quality, but I beg to differ with the later. Dont get me wrong, my 240hp MT 6spd Accord is more than the average grocery getter. I was surprised by the get up and go. This car is a definite sleeper especially when that VTEC kicks in....look out automatics with less than 290HP. OK, here is the downside, inferior leather seats that crack too soon even with the use of high quality leather care products. Paint is chipping down to bare metal due to only one coat of paint. The dash rattles and creaks around the driver side "A" pillar. had a few problems with the car being hard to start on the first try. Spring in trunk stopped working. The G35 is a better car.

  • Wow...blows away my 1997 Civic EX - 2004 Honda Accord
    By -

Ive been yearning over this car for a year (to replace great 1997 Civic EX sedan). I fall into the "love the rear end of this car" camp. Have owned it for less than 48 hours, and I love it...ergonomics, interior noise (minimal), comfort, features. Test drove AT and MT. AT was good, MT was awesome.

  • Best Car EVER! - 2004 Honda Accord
    By -

I used to only buy Ford products, but after Ford failed me and a Lemon Lawsuit later... I bought a Honda and I love it. Best car I have ever had. Even with the V-6 engine, I am getting over 320 miles to the tank. Thats great for me since I travel 90 miles a day! If you are looking to buy an Accord... DO IT! It will be the best move you will ever make. My husband trys to drive it like a racecar since its so peppy. Good Luck if you buy it!
