Model Overview:

Few vehicles from overseas manufacturers have garnered as much respect in North America as the Honda Accord. It hasn't achieved this status by being glamorous, sexy or thrilling. Instead, Honda just seems to have its finger on the pulse of what Americans value most. Take an Accord for a spin and you'll find it to be comfortable, roomy, intelligently engineered and easy to drive. It's also backed by strong resale value and a solid reputation for reliability.

You'll find that certain competing sedans and coupes are quicker, more prestigious or simply less expensive than the Accord. What's special about the Honda Accord, though, is its completeness. It scores well across a broader range of categories than practically any family-friendly sedan or coupe on the market. When examined from this holistic standpoint, it's easy to see why the Accord has become an automotive icon and remains one of our editors' top recommendations.

We bought this car off a dealership lot with 90000 on it, and already 3 yrs.old and if if left me on the side of the road today I couldnt say a word. To date it now has 221000 on it and still has the power as the day we brought it home. we have done routine maint. but no major problems,my wife still drives it 4-5 days a week on avg. of 65-70 miles per day.The body and interior are holding up well. We have no plans of getting rid of it. Everything is still working. with the exception of the power antena. I have a friend who owns one just like it with 268000.

  • V6 is Addicting! Very fun to drive - 2005 Honda Accord

I have owned a V6 coupe EX with HFP package for 4 years and just over 60k miles and I like her more and more every day. She has never left me stranded, maintenance has been minimal, and she always wants to go faster...70 on the freeway seems like nothing to this engine. Fastest I have gone in it is 130 and it felt like it was on rails...meant to be driven fast. Acceleration is surprisingly very good. The engine is fantastic, auto transmission shifts are fast and always when I want them but not the smoothest. Braking is great if you have good pads & rotors, for a heavy coupe it stops on a dime. The tight steering, second to the engine, is the best part about the car and why I unexpectedly decided to buy it. The steering is why the car handles so great even at 100mph, its very nimble with a little understeer if youre really pushing it. I have the 17" 9-spoke wheels that look great in the rain and at night. Trunk is spacious, though I dislike how it narrows at the bottom of the opening so much which really limits the ability to fit larger things. The cabin at least at the EX/EX-L level is refined and very ergonomic, I can use most controls without looking which has made it easier to drive safe. 6CD player is nice but I added an aftermarket aux/ipod/bt that works good and even shows song info on the screen and lets me use steering wheel controls. Leather has aged well and heated seats work great still. With 140k miles on the dash, the only significant maintenance has been the timing belt and water pump replacement ($650). Also replaced the starter and battery once. Other than that, its just oil changes, brake pads, and tires. I test drove 9 other cars before noticing this one on the lot...with the Honda Factory Performance sideskirts/lips it looked like it was 6 years newer than it was. Drove it on a whim and liked it much better than my next choice a BMW 330ci. Last year when I moved I drove it 3200 miles across the country in 8 days and she delivered 100% it was a blast to drive. It is a big car at over 15 1/2 feet which I really like but some people may have a hard time parking it in tight spaces. Back seats are not too bad, but getting in the back is not easy unless youre small or a child. Only other negative is that fuel economy does vary depending on how and where you drive. I have had tanks last as low as 17mpg and as high as 33mpg I kid you not. My average though is about 23mpg which is ok. I never ever thought I would keep the car longer than 2 years, but now Im driving it as long as it wants to keep going. This car owes me nothing at this point as its done everything I have asked and more. If youre considering a 7th generation Accord Coupe, do yourself a favor and get a well-optioned V6 and try to find one with the HFP package.

I bought my car brand new with 7 miles on it in March 1993, now 11 years later and 205,000 miles, it still has as much power as it did the day the day I bought it. I have not had any problem with the engine in any way, except the manufacturer defect of the distributor (which was recalled). We do maintain it, with regular tune-ups and oil changes every 3 thousand miles. The only thing we have done, (aside from interior, mostly cosmetic problems) is regular maintenance with only 1 battery and of course tires.

This is the second Honda Accord I have owned and I have had the best all around service from these cars. I will not buy anything else.

I love my Honda accord V-6 with navi. Its a significant upgrade and my first. The acceleration and the power of the car is awesome. On the inside the navi among other features really makes long drives comfortable. Lastly, the gas mileage on the highway is pretty good too. I live in MD and went all the way to Boston on one tank! However, road noise is noticeable but easy to forget about and the drivers seat takes a while to get used to.

  • Great car but falling behind in places - 2016 Honda Accord

This car is a rocket, it will run with new ecoboost Mustangs at the stoplight but you dont have to drive around in a car that screams "I peaked in high school" to get that much acceleration. It also seems to be very well built mostly, the ride is taught but not punishing and the engine is just a joy both in feel and sound. I got the automatic and I dont regret not getting the manual even though Honda manuals are very sweet, you pay a big penalty in mileage with the manual because it doesnt do cylinder deactivation. Handling is secure and it goes around corners quite well but you can feel all that weight up front and it never begs to be pushed really hard around corners, you can just sense that it will end in some pretty hefty understeer. Its more GT or business mans muscle than a sports car which suits me fine as I have more need to blow away mini vans at the stop light than canyons to carve on a daily basis. Having my kidneys turned into pudding on my commute is not my idea of fun the way it was when I was 19 so I appreciate the nice ride. People complain about the touch screen, and I agree that they need to be banished from cars because they are unsafe but in reality you will use the steering wheel controls for almost everything so it doesnt actually matter. The stereo itself is not half bad which is good since there is no optional branded upgrade package where they stencil Harmon Kardon or Pioneer on the dash and add $1500 to the price. It hooked up easily to my phone but I cant comment on Android Auto because my current phone isnt compatible. Where the infotainment drops the ball hard is with voice recognition. It works for your phonebook but not on music. We also own recent Ford and GM stuff and being able to call up specific songs like that is something I really will miss. Aside from the voice recognition being behind the times there are some noise issues that bother me. There is wind noise coming in from the drivers door and there are some buzzing noises that seem to be coming from the door trim or inside the door but I cant pin them down. They crop up on pavement that isnt smooth, it sets up some sort of vibration and the panel starts to buzz. Rattles, buzzing and wind noise are not what I expected in a new Accord, my 2015 Fusion is like a bank vault and its the cheap model. The sunroof however is about the quietest I have ever heard when its open in either mode, there isnt much noise penalty to having it open in vent mode at all. The interior is pretty well done, nothing feels really cheap but there is still a lot more hard plastic than on my Fusion or our Chevy, there is also a lot of piano black glossy finish hard plastic that experience has shown will get scuffed very quickly. The leather seating is quite nice if it fits you, it does me but I can tell it wont fit everyone. There are also water bottle holders molded into the door trim....that dont fit any bottle we own. The exterior is tasteful even with the new sportier touches, unless you get the red it wont attract any police attention. It would be nice if Honda would offer some fun colors though. Red, white, black, blue, grey and silver....thats it. The blue and red are just plain primary red and blue too, would it be too much to ask to get the purple from the CR-Z or the raspberry that was on CR-Vs a couple years ago? Overall I am pretty happy, the dealers are quite willing to just give Accord Coupes away without any hassle. So while it might look competitive in price to a bare bones ecoboost mustang on the sticker price of $31700 the reality is that you should be out the door on an EX-L V6 for WELL under $30k...including taxes and fees. Got mine for $27,028 before tax, that is a steal for this much car.

  • Transmission FAILS Honda VERY aware - 1999 Honda Accord
    By -

After 59,000 miles and every scheduled maintenance done,my car is labeled "unsafe to drive" by Honda dealer! Admits that 2000 and 2001 have a problem and after much chat "some" 1999! I know 4 people just in my town with the exact same problem! NEW transmission needed after less than 60,000 miles! My engine light didnt come on until 2 miles before the transmission was deemed unsafe...what if I had been on a highway going 55? DANGEROUS CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
