This Year's Model Updates:

As the model was fully redesigned for the 2003 model year, there are only a few changes on the 2004 Honda Accord. Availability of side curtain airbags has been expanded this year to four-cylinder EX models -- standard on those with leather, optional on cars with a cloth interior. All four- and six-cylinder EX models equipped with a leather interior now have XM Satellite Radio with three months of free service as standard equipment. And as with all Honda cars this year, a new seatbelt reminder system is standard. Accord models meeting California's stringent Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) standards -- all four-cylinder sedans equipped with automatic transmission -- will also be sold in the states of New York, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts.

Pros:
  • Tight build quality, quiet cabin, refined and powerful engines, reputation for quality and durability, high crash test scores.
Cons:

  • Dont think about it, be about it!! - 2004 Honda Accord

After months and months of research and constant debate, I finally purchased a 2004 silver ex-v6 Accord. I could not be more satisfied with my purchase. It was a tough decision between the Altima, Maxima, and TSX. Ultimately, more bang for the buck sums the Accord up in one phrase. At 1000 dollars below invoice, there was no need to make a choice. This is my second Honda. Being the best can only get better.

But Ive had a lot of problems with the brakes. The pads wore out in the first 5000 miles and had to be replaced. Now at 16000 miles, they are doing it again. Also, there have been some electrical problems as well as AC issues. Overall though, its a great car to own. Im averaging well over 25 MPG with a lot of city driving. Also, being tall, the redesigned interior is great. Accelleration could use a boost, but thats what I get for buying the 4 cylinder model. The trunk has a lot of room as does the backseat. All in all, I think the Accord is the best sedan on the market in its price range.

  • LOve my Accord!! - 2004 Honda Accord

Ive owned this car from new. Over 11 years and 165k miles later and it runs and drives great! I maintain the fluids myself and have done a few brake jobs. Im amazed at how well the car has aged, and now understand first hand, "brand loyalty". I would buy another Accord in a heartbeat and am eyeing the tenth generation as a replacement, but only, ONLY if Honda still offers a manual transmission. The MT in this car is superb for the price point and has been flawless. The 2.4 I4 engine is also a gem. It is extraordinary how well this car has been engineered, the powertrain, the steering, the interior layout and controls, the comfort of the seats are all exemplary. Everything works together seamlessly, and I still very much enjoy driving it. One negative is that the paint is rather weak and I have had to fix a few minor rust bubbles on the fenders and one on the hood. This despite regular washes, including rinsing the undercarriage and wheelwells, and waxes. There are no major rust issues. Another annoyance is that while the HVAC is generally good, the floor vents are some of the weakest I have experienced. I want my feet warm during the Wintertime while still breathing cooler air. For some reason heat is not directed fully to the feet but seems to come more out of the top vents. One other is that the engine, "clacks" in colder weather when started. My understanding is that this is piston slap. While it does not seem to affect long term reliability of the engine it is nonetheless disconcerting, but I have become used to it. Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase, and look forward to a new Accord in the future if Honda continues to manufacture benchmark vehicles and only if they still offer a manual transmission.

First a word of advice... save up for the Honda Accord EX with Navigation. While it seems like a $1950 toy it just SEEMS that way. It is an AMAZING total computer...not just a route-finder like so many others. Now onto the vehicle as a whole. You will not find a vehicle in the 24-26k range (after haggling) that comes close to this car in any way. In fact I would put it up against any BMW 3 series and a substantial test drive will have you feeling the same.

The EX, V6 pushes out 240 hp for the thrill of your life! Not bad for a Honda. From doing internet searches to 12 different dealers, was able to get car for $200 under invoice. Call Angelia at College Park Honda - great customer service. This is my third honda and the best one yet!

  • EX V6 w/XM and Navi - 2004 Honda Accord
    By -

03 vs. 04 seat belt warning system and automatic front air bag deactivation system upgraded Navi DVD and software (20030629). For example, elevation is now accurate to 10 feet. XM is really nice. I never thought I would ever pay for radio, but I just might when the free three month OEM package expires. The drivers seat hip support is much softer. Electric seat are smoother running. On the 03 the seat edge was very firm/stiff. NO RATTLES in the 04. The 03 that I had was a rattle trap. The car suspension seems more compliant and it feels to me to ride much smoother AND quieter. Fit and finish seems much improved (tight gaps).

  • Near-Perfect Family Sedan - 2004 Honda Accord
    By -

This is by far the best Family Sedan I have ever driven. It has a lot of power and gets pretty good gas mileage (its advertised at 30 mpg, I have been getting about 28.5 at an average speed of about 80mph on the freeways). Opt for the top-of-the- line Ex-V6 and you will NOT be sorry!

  • The Best Car I Have Ever Owned - 2004 Honda Accord

Not only is the Honda Accord 4-dr V-6 with leather interior and Navigation system loaded with all the luxuries, it rides like a dream. Power, performance and looks - My new car is a triple threat and I will always look to the Accord when I need a new car.

  • Honda Does No Wrong....AGAIN - 2004 Honda Accord
    By -

Ive had the 4 cylinder EX with leather for about a month now, about 700 miles of driving. I cannot say enough about the car, its just does everything right. Having driven Civics for the last ten years, the Accord is a huge step up in every department. The 2.4 liter 4 is plenty torquey (and smooth), so I had no need for the V6. That saved me a couple of grand to get the EX with leather, which feels like a much more expensive car. Everything is laid out well, and Honda adds nice touches like stainless steel interior accents and XM radio. I just dont see how they crammed this much car into a $24,000 pricepoint.
