This Year's Model Updates:

As the model was fully redesigned for the 2003 model year, there are only a few changes on the 2004 Honda Accord. Availability of side curtain airbags has been expanded this year to four-cylinder EX models -- standard on those with leather, optional on cars with a cloth interior. All four- and six-cylinder EX models equipped with a leather interior now have XM Satellite Radio with three months of free service as standard equipment. And as with all Honda cars this year, a new seatbelt reminder system is standard. Accord models meeting California's stringent Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) standards -- all four-cylinder sedans equipped with automatic transmission -- will also be sold in the states of New York, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts.

Pros:
  • Tight build quality, quiet cabin, refined and powerful engines, reputation for quality and durability, high crash test scores.

  • Accord EX - 2004 Honda Accord

I own a 2004 Toyota Camry LE and just added the 2004 Honda Accord EX to the stable and this horse can run. Its a wonderful car to drive. The steering feel is agile and very responsive. The suspension is not to hard or too soft. Theyve put a lot more feel into the car then the previous 2 generations. Ive owned a 96 Accord, 98 Accord, and a 91 Prelude. This current 2004 Accord feels very much more like the Prelude then it did the other 2 Accords. Its a great car and you cant go wrong with buying one.

  • 4th Accord, keeps on getting better - 2004 Honda Accord

My first Accord was a 1977 Sedan right hand drive (Dad was stationed in Japan). Then I drove my parents 1994 Accord in law school. Recently I reluctantly replaced my beloved 01 for a 04 because of the $199 lease. The 04 is a big improvement even over the 01. The engine is powerful, smooth and quiet. The cabin is well designed. The materials used are first rate. No rattles in the 04, the 01 rattled incessantly. The tires are bigger and stick to the road better, not bad for OEMs. Although I wanted something sexier, I always go back to the Accord. Why? because its fun to drive, has lots of room and it never gives me problems. Good price too.

  • Ok for the $$$ - 2004 Honda Accord

All said it is a good car for the price but its a bit overrated, the car is not all its made out to be, drove camry V6 for 8 yrs and liked it much better, Hondas V6 engine does not feel like 240 HP, Im not getting near the MPG advertized, and radio needs improvement, Bad experience at the dealer, they did not apply hondas incentive at the time ($500) to sales contract, after finding out there was an incentive was told "too late". 3 year guarantee period is too short compared to other makes. Built quality appears to be good, good materials and finish all around and very good interior.

  • Good Value, Not Much Fun To Drive - 2004 Honda Accord
    By -

Overall, the Accord was a great value however it is just not that much fun to drive. The engine has enough HP to get up and going, yet lacks sport car quality. The reliability, roominess of the interior, and great financing rates prompted my decision to buy this car. The car produces a moderate amount of road noise too; It is not quiet. I looked at the Acura TL and will be trading in the Accord. The Acura still has great value and is the Accords luxury sport version that appeals to those who want a car that is stylish and fun to drive. The Accord appealed to my practical side and the TL appealed to my senses as well. If you have a few extra bucks to spend it might be worth it.

  • Comfortable and snappy econobox - 2004 Honda Accord

This car handles well, has a comfortable ride and spacious interior. Dont expect sports car like grip or tautness and you wont be disappointed. The interior is practical and well laid out albeit bland. The trunk is very large. Economy is among the best in its class and it does not come at the expense of performance. The 4 cylinder is smooth and quiet. I tend to select cars that appeal on an emotional level. This one does not. Its common, competent and safe. Costing of ownership is about the lowest for this size of car.

  • first car wasnt as perfect as expected - 2004 Honda Accord

I have heard many good things about honda. My sister and girlfirend have used ones which work fine but for some reason with my new honda that wasnt the same. A week didnt pass by when the trunk release broke. I got it fixed by honda. Also I started getting this rotten egg smell and took it back to honda. They told me the catalatic converter had to be changed and they changed that. As for the service that was another story. Each time i went to honda for a problem i had to wait 3 plus hours. When they serviced my car they put two oil stains on my trunk which couldnt come out easily. The honda dealership gave me wash.

  • First Honda Is Awesome - 2004 Honda Accord

This is my first Honda. I have a commute and decided to get rid of the SUV. Smart move. The Accord is easier on the wallet at the gas pump. Its easy on the eyes, too. People notice. It has a lot of get-up-and-go for a 4 cyl. I am quite happy.

  • Great Price for a Really Good Car - 2004 Honda Accord
    By -

Test drove just about everything out there, foreign and domestic. When it came time to figure it all out, the Accord EX V-6 was the clear winner for me. This car is $10,000 less than the BMW 3 series and Benz C Class. Accord does not handle or ride as well as these (its close though), but quality and reliability are just as good if not better. Accord back seats are more comfortable than both of the German cars...I dont know why anybody would buy an Acura TSX over an Accord V-6. The Toyota Camry is a different story, its a nice car too, I just liked the look of the Accord better.

  • Not what I thought - 2004 Honda Accord
    By -

After about 5,000 miles I traded in my Honda for a VW Passat. Here are the reasons. 1) EX had no traction control, isnt part of the EX package. I thought I didnt need it, guess what you need it. When you are pulling out on to a highway when it is wet, you find out you need it. 2) The noise, take a drive on a concrete highway or get on a highway next to a truck. You will find out the skimped on the sound insulation. 3) Take a ride over 70 miles an hour into a turn, or ride on a rough highway at 70 MPH. You will have to hold the wheel with 2 hands, understeer is there.
