This Year's Model Updates:

As the model was fully redesigned for the 2003 model year, there are only a few changes on the 2004 Honda Accord. Availability of side curtain airbags has been expanded this year to four-cylinder EX models -- standard on those with leather, optional on cars with a cloth interior. All four- and six-cylinder EX models equipped with a leather interior now have XM Satellite Radio with three months of free service as standard equipment. And as with all Honda cars this year, a new seatbelt reminder system is standard. Accord models meeting California's stringent Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) standards -- all four-cylinder sedans equipped with automatic transmission -- will also be sold in the states of New York, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts.

Pros:
  • Tight build quality, quiet cabin, refined and powerful engines, reputation for quality and durability, high crash test scores.
Cons:

I recently purchased a 2004 Accord V6 EX, and I am very happy with it. After testing out some other sedans, this was the clear choice for me. The interior is well thought-out, with a high quality feeling to the materials. The drive is so smooth, with plenty of acceleration and power in the 240 horses. It feels great to sit in the car and drive it, and Ill be driving it for years.

Smoothe riding, smoothest shifting Ive ever experienced. This car handles like a dream, and rides like one too. Peppy for a 4 cylinder. We still have one that the kids drive that has 230,000 miles on it, and no major repairs yet.

Honda makes the best shifting manual transmission in this category. Love the car, get 27-29mpg in mixed driving. 32-34mpg at high-speed interstated driving. Handling is decent w/ EX model. However, this is a torque engine, not much top-end kick to it, just a steady pull all the way to redline. No problems at all except sunglass holder pops open on its own - should be a warranty fix when I get around to it. No reservations about this purchase after 6,000 miles.

The handling characteristics of the car are excellent. The exterior finish is the worst we have ever experienced, as it is subject to many, many paint chips. We have a 1990 Honda Accord as well, and that car after 14 years has a much better paint finish and less paint chips. Also, the 1990 Honda seems to be built better as everything fits perfectly. That is not the case for the 2004 Honda.

Our car is a pleasure to drive--we feel like a million bucks in it. We traded in our 1987 Honda Accord with 250,000 miles on it for the 2005 Honda Accord V6. Our old car was great, but what an improvement in the 2005! It is the best car on the road. The only thing we are trying to rectify is a sound/vibration noise/feel under the accelerator pedal at times. The dealership is working on this for us. Otherwise we are happy campers, unless the dealer doesnt resolve this one problem. Time will tell. Thanks Honda Corp. for your fine automobile and keep up the good work and we will definately be another repeat buyer.

My first Honda, drives great, gotta love the I-vtec. I have the 4cyl and it kicks. 160hp is not bad for the price.

  • Noisy! - 2004 Honda Accord

I am so relieved to see some of the reviews complaining about the noise in this vehicle. Driving on the interstate is unbelievably loud unless the stereo is cranked way up. I can sit at a stoplight with the stereo on and all the windows closed and still hear every word of conversation or radio in the car next to me. HEY Honda, ever heard of a little thing called insulation???? Also, my brakes make all kinds of weird noises that the dealership cant explain away. I will never buy another Honda. Cant wait to get rid of this one.

  • Great car for the price. - 2004 Honda Accord

This is my wifes car but I want to rate it. This is a very smooth ride all the way around. Extremely comfortable. The V-6 is strong but not overly peppy. The black leather interior stays cool even when it is hot outside. Overall great car for under 25k.

  • Not a bad deal. - 2004 Honda Accord

Overall, Id say its been a good car. I bought the EX fully loaded with everything but the navigation system, and I must say that I like all the features, although its no Camry. But it also doesnt cost as much as the Camry. The ride is a bit firm, and it has a lot of blind spots. Overall its a beautiful car, but when youre in it, it feels like a cheaper car that has been loaded with features. The Camry feels much more solid. And for some reason, Ive been getting only 17 mpg! The dealership tells me it still needs to be broken in. I got an amazing deal on it though. 21,800 brand new. It actually could have sold it used for more.
