Model Overview:

Few vehicles from overseas manufacturers have garnered as much respect in North America as the Honda Accord. It hasn't achieved this status by being glamorous, sexy or thrilling. Instead, Honda just seems to have its finger on the pulse of what Americans value most. Take an Accord for a spin and you'll find it to be comfortable, roomy, intelligently engineered and easy to drive. It's also backed by strong resale value and a solid reputation for reliability.

You'll find that certain competing sedans and coupes are quicker, more prestigious or simply less expensive than the Accord. What's special about the Honda Accord, though, is its completeness. It scores well across a broader range of categories than practically any family-friendly sedan or coupe on the market. When examined from this holistic standpoint, it's easy to see why the Accord has become an automotive icon and remains one of our editors' top recommendations.

  • No Better Value - 1994 Honda Accord

EX bought new in 1993, just crossed 144K. Replaced radiator and distributor cap in the last 3 years. An ABS part went bad under warranty, and AC compressor went out just out of warranty, dealer replaced for labor only. Otherwise over 11 years this car has been incredibly reliable. It has never ever leaked a drop of oil and has always done 22-25 mpg in town and just under 30mpg on the highway. Fit and finish is typical Honda quality. Its a fun car to drive, the VTEC motor lively, strong and responsive. Only real issue is the AC cant keep up on hot days, and the shocks/bushings tend to get noisy in the cold now. No rust anywhere yet, wax twice/year.

  • Best Car I Ever Had - 1994 Honda Accord

I bought a 5 speed manual brand new. Had some hassles negotiating the price, but it was worth it. I commute about 100 miles a day, and I didnt baby it. About half of the commute was highway, which I regularly drove at 80+ mph, and the other half was stop & go. By the time I gave it to my brother in 2002, it had about 236K miles. The only real problem I had was the original tires had to be replaced around 20K miles. Over 8 years, I replaced the muffler, timing belt (2-3 times) and the drive axles, all considered normal wear and tear or better. I washed it maybe once a year. Now that my brother babys it and cleaned it up, it looks brand new. It still has the original paint!

I had been wanting a Honda for years. I am glad I finally did.

  • Not all 10s - 2008 Honda Accord

I have had the car for 13 months. I am a bit disappointed with the interior planning. The heated seat button on the driver side is obstructed by the hand brake and the mode button to change the heating and cooling is at the farthest reach of the control panel. Additionally, it is puzzling that despite the purchase of an EX-L you need to get a v6 just to get something as simple as a universal garage door opener. I have had Hondas and Acuras in the past and there used to be a distinct difference from domestics, that isnt so for this model.

  • My Favorite Car - 1990 Honda Accord

I have 227,000 on my Honda. It has served me well over the last few years. I have taken this car everywhere. I love the styling and the interior. I still think it is as modern and even better designed then some 2004 cars. 90% of my paint is gone but is still shows no signs of rust. This car has the unique ability to heal itself as problems that seemed to need repair - started to work again saving me much money. Truley a special car.

  • 175,000 miles and still kicking! - 1996 Honda Accord
    By -

I bought this car as the 3rd owner in July of 2002. I purchased it for $2500 b/c the seller had put 144,500 miles on it and dealerships were only going to give her $2k for a trade in. I have done minimal work on this car and it has been very reliable. Routinely gets me 25+mpg. Long highway trips will net me 30 mpg. Great gas mileage.Just realized this car is still on original timing belt so that is getting replaced this week. 175,000 mils on original timing belt! wow!Wish the car had more power, but it gets the job done

  • Low Maitenece, High Reliability - 1997 Honda Accord
    By -

This is my second accord. My first was an 88 LX that went for 200,000 miles without any major mechanical repairs (only brake jobs and oil changes). The only reason I got rid of it was a car accident. I was quick to buy another accord. Since I do a lot of traveling I put 46,000 miles on the car within the first 2yrs (I bought it at 60,000) Now at over 100,000 miles, I have only needed to replace the brakes (a regular maitenance item). I would definately recommend this car for anyone.

Reliability and quality are the keys to the 97 Accords overall performance. It is easy and affordable to maintain - no mechanical or electrical problems. It is easy/fun to drive and responds beautifully (great on wet roads and in snow.)

  • EXV6 - 2003 Honda Accord

All the power you want. Very comfortable on 4,000 mile road trip. Has rattles in both front doors that drive me nuts. Everything else is outstanding.
