This Year's Model Updates:

Following a complete redesign last year, the 2009 Honda Accord carries over unchanged, though the V6's official engine output is up a smidge after further testing revealed slightly more power than previously measured.

Pros:
  • Ample passenger space, high-quality interior, above-average steering feel, high resale value, available coupe body style.
Cons:
  • Intrusive road noise, button-heavy center stack, some find seats uncomfortable.

  • Road Noise, but wait theres more....... - 2009 Honda Accord

My review is just that, mine. I have owned several cars in my life from Mercedes to Chevy. I am unhappy with this Honda product. My wifes 1992 Accord was a better car. Period.

  • This is a Honda product? - 2009 Honda Accord

This particular year (2009)and model (Accord EX-L V6) have quality issues that have yet to be addressed by Honda, and the sheer frustration is enough to make me never buy another Honda because of these unresolved quality issues with the brakes. I purchased a new car, not some problematic use car... People researching the 2009 Honda Accord should keep this in mind when deciding whether or not to purchase, you have been warned!!!

  • Horrible seats & lousy transmission - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

Bought a new Accord 9 months ago. Would not buy again. I have chronic back pain since driving the accord; didnt have problem with my Odyssey. (doesnt happen to my husband, but it kills me). Took a long time to figure out the cause. Within 15 minutes of sitting in the Accord, my back flares up. Doesnt matter if its the driver side/passenger. Transmission stinks: doesnt shift at the right spots, will tach up to 5 getting on the highway. Feels like I have Fred Flintstone feet under the car. Wish I knew before buying it how disappointing it is.

  • Dont Believe the Hype... - 2009 Honda Accord

Disappointed. Lets start with the good: Attractive design, excellent build quality, almost german-car like. Great handling. Reliability is fine. Now the BAD: Very uncomfortable seats, and driving position. Driver area is very confined and like sitting in a hole. Will never find a satisfying or comfortable position. Car looks good standing alone, but appears small and dinky next to other cars, even compacts. Rear-end design is ugly. 2.4L engine feels slow. Cant pass or merge to save your life. Rough idol, raggedy engine sound. Gas mileage not impressive. Gets 535 miles per tank, where Camry, Malibu, Sonata, get 600 miles/tank. Accord falls short on many fronts.

  • Uncomfortable Seats - 2009 Honda Accord

The seats in my 2009 Honda Accord are so uncomfortable that I am going to sell the car after owning the car for only 8 months. Honda of America is not interested in helping me find a solution.

  • Worst road noise experienced - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

Worst road noise experienced. Have owned 8-9 Hondas and this one is a great, great let down. The ride is bumpy and road noise levels prevent a descent conversation with the passenger. Lack of Michelin tires is also a negative. Really surprised at all the interior noise, particularly coming from a manufacturer who set the standard for fine Imported vehicles. So remorseful for purchasing this auto.

  • Great MPG but hate the seat! - 2009 Honda Accord

We were forced into purchasing another car. We were coming out of a 2000 Nissan Maxima SE which is billed as the "family sports car" and it is. We had all the bells and whistles and we loved that car. New Maxima was out of our price range. Previously had a Honda Accord back in 1986 which we loved, kept it until 212,000 miles so thats why we went back to a Honda. Did lots of research on this purchase and for the money it seemed like we should have been thrilled; we got $6K off the sticker and have had it 5 weeks and put 5200 miles on it. We are getting 36MPG which is fantastic BUT the drivers seat and steering wheel are horribly uncomfortable. Very tough getting used to this car.

  • Got rid of my Accord - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

I had my Accord for 13 months total, put over 20k miles on it. I could not stand the uncomfortable seats any longer. The headrests bothered me because they would push my head forward no matter which height they were at and the seats were rather hard and the lumbar support did not provide much satisfaction. Honda Customer Service told me that they cannot do anything for me at this time as the seats and headrest are designed to safety regulations and if they have a recall, they would let me know. Last week, I traded it in for a well equipped 2009 S80, which stickered for $42k and I bought it for $32k. The seats are much more comfortable and I no longer have back pain when driving.

  • BAD CAR!!! BAD BRAKES!!! - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

I ABSOLUTELY HATE THAT I EVER PURCHASED THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!! HORRIBLE!!! I had brake issues after 5 months. The back brakes needed to be replaced, which is uncommon. Then I had more brake issues on the front two months after that. They dealership checked my brakes and told me that everything was ok, but theyre replacing my driveshaft and axles which absolutely makes no since. I will never by another Honda!!!!

  • The front seats ruin a fine car - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

The front seats are simply the most uncomfortable Ive ever experienced. The lumbar plates that are part of the active head restraints are the primary culprit but even with them removed the seats are still awful. Im seriously considering trading this in after 5 months and 4,000 miles. Beyond this, its a fairly solid car. But the fuel economy is disappointing. Im only averaging 22-23 MPG with about 70% highway driving. At any rate, no matter how good the rest of the car is, you cant wait to get out of it at the end of every trip longer then 15 minutes, so what good is it.
