This Year's Model Updates:

Following a complete redesign last year, the 2009 Honda Accord carries over unchanged, though the V6's official engine output is up a smidge after further testing revealed slightly more power than previously measured.

Pros:
  • Ample passenger space, high-quality interior, above-average steering feel, high resale value, available coupe body style.
Cons:
  • Intrusive road noise, button-heavy center stack, some find seats uncomfortable.

  • Good car, but... - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

Overall this car has been solid and reliable for the most part. My biggest complaint is the drivers seat. I did not notice this until I took the car on 1+ hour trips, the headrest design causes the headrest always to be in contact with your head, adjusting the height and seatback does not seem to help. Also, the seat does feel very hard on my back. I notice that I have been making more trips to the chiropractor than before. I had high hopes for this car, but based on how I feel from longer drives and how it is affecting my overall health, I honestly cannot wait to get rid of it. Honda customer care said the seat is designed according to safety regulations and they will not help.

  • Uncomfortable Seats - 2009 Honda Accord

The seats in my 2009 Accord are so incredibly uncomfortable that I cant continue to drive this vehicle. Even though I will lose money I will have to sell this vehicle. The Honda engineers really missed the mark in this regard. In the past I have owned a 1985 Accord, a 1990 Accord, a 1995 Civic, and a 1998 Accord the seats in these years and models were quite comfortable. Have been told by Honda of America that the Honda engineers decided to redesign the seats and I should have gone for a longer test drive. Needles to say this once faithful Honda customer will no longer be buying and driving Hondas.

  • The best Accord yet. - 2009 Honda Accord

I originally planned to buy the 2.4L EXL I4 5MT coupe, but after seeing and driving the V6 6MT, I had to have it. The extra 2 grand gets you better looking wheels, Homelink, fog lights, integrated spoiler, dual exhaust, and some other small odds n ends make it worth the cost (since I would have wanted to upgrade the wheels and put fogs on the I4). The V6 also provides a great amount of power, but the I4 will suffice for most and is sufficient. I only wish that the 6MT had a taller 6th gear. I get the EPA rated 26 mpg, but Im sure it could be better with a taller final drive while still being fast on the low end.

  • Great performance and value - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

After test driving a bunch of cars, including Acura TL, Lexus IS, C class Mercedes, Infiniti...it was an easy decision to settle on the Honda. Absolutely great value for the money, performance is superb, feels great, just like the Acura TL. Some reviews on this forum complain about road noise...I have not heard it at all. Also I read complaints about the seats...somewhat true but in my case I find it forces me to just sit up straight and have better posture. Overall, I love the car. My only wish is cosmetic: projector beam headlights and LED tail lights. I paid 27K and change for mine plus all the other dealer options, TT&L, etc etc. I do not regret my choice at all!

  • First car, awesome choice. - 2009 Honda Accord

Ive had my Honda for about a year now and I have never had a single problem with it (Im at about 30,000 miles). Its undeniably the most comfortable car Ive ever driven as well. At just under 6 leg room can be an issue, but not with this car. The seats are also very comfortable. Ive taken this car on a 10 hour road trip and it was perfectly comfortable. I have had some troubles with slipping/ light hydroplaning but only when going around corners (maybe a bit too fast). Also, this car does not like gravel on paved roads. As a younger person I really like the looks of the car. My friends refer to it as the Batmobile and it does get compliments, which is unusual for a Honda!

  • Sexiest Honda ever - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

I wrote a full review about this car here on Epinions under the name Bigtruckseries. The Coupe is VERY sexy, very sporty and for less than $34,000 loaded, it gives a great sense of having more without having paid more. The seats are comfortable if you are a short person but the tall wont like it as much. The V6 is the best model, with plenty of ZIP for city cruising while the 190 HP I4 doesnt disappoint those with no need to speed. Good steering Bad body roll Plasticky interior The major downside is a cluttered center stack, poor user interface in the Navigation system and terrible voice controls that can accidentally change the temperature before doing what they should.

  • No Rear Brakes - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

Good handling - solid performance - everything that you would expect from a Honda - my two sons are over 6 feet tall and there is plenty of leg room in the rear. And of course great gas mileage - however, watch out for the rear brakes on this car - I just had the car in for a 15,000 mile service and only had 5% left on the rear brakes - the mechanic told me the brake pad is a 1 inch by 1 inch pad that wears out every 12k-15k miles - Honda claims they are aware of the problem but no recall or service warranty issued by Honda yet? That is why I got rid of my Suburban - undersized brakes for the car - now it seems I have the same problem with a Honda??? Unheard of.

  • Fun to Drive - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

After Driving an SUV for the past 10 years I decided to go back to a sedan. My wife drives the Odyssey, and she fell in love with Honda, so did I. I looked at the BMW 328xi and thought I would purchase it after the test drive until I drove the Accord. The Accord was 13 thousand dollars less and that was for the top of the line EX-L with navigation. It look fantastic Im very happy to have two Hondas in the Driveway, especially with 3 kids safety and reliability made the Honda a no brainer.

  • Good Car - 2009 Honda Accord

While this sedan is probably one of the best around, make sure you test drive. The VCM at 65-75 MPH is constantly changing between the 3-4 modes and can cause jerking response. It is noticeable, causes nausea. Make sure you are ok with this. Be aware that the car must be warmed up for the VCM to work. Using cruise control and holding your right foot extremely still helps. Otherwise just drive 95+ to keep it in 6 mode. Everything else is just same good old Honda...engine...controls, fit/finish...reliability

  • Concerned - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

We have less than 800 miles and noticed that the headlights dim each time that the motor cooling fan kicks on. Honda tells me that this is "normal". Does that mean that ALL 4cyl Hondas have this problem. If I would have known this prior to the sale, I would not have bought the car.
