Model Overview:

Few vehicles from overseas manufacturers have garnered as much respect in North America as the Honda Accord. It hasn't achieved this status by being glamorous, sexy or thrilling. Instead, Honda just seems to have its finger on the pulse of what Americans value most. Take an Accord for a spin and you'll find it to be comfortable, roomy, intelligently engineered and easy to drive. It's also backed by strong resale value and a solid reputation for reliability.

You'll find that certain competing sedans and coupes are quicker, more prestigious or simply less expensive than the Accord. What's special about the Honda Accord, though, is its completeness. It scores well across a broader range of categories than practically any family-friendly sedan or coupe on the market. When examined from this holistic standpoint, it's easy to see why the Accord has become an automotive icon and remains one of our editors' top recommendations.

Honda, reliable, cant go wrong, right? Just a few months after purchase at about 60,000 miles I was informed they needed to replace the transmission. Ok, i had also purchase an extended warranty so i didnt pay anything out of pocket. Then I started seeing my ABS and TCS lights come on in the morning when Id start my car, by the afternoon on the drive home they went away. Dealership used their computer diagnostic and said nothing was wrong so i ignored it too. Well now over 100,000 the lights dont go out and they tell me its a $1,200 job to replace the ABS modulator... Im so happy, no not really.

  • In my opinion - The best car ever built. - 1999 Honda Accord

I have had the car a total of 10 years this fall. I have had the brakes replaced 2 times since I bought the car, Ive had the timing belt changed on its scheduled 125,000 mile maintenance, the alternator had to be replaced at 40,000 because of the faulty manufacturer (Honda did not warranty this part.). I have had a lot of worry free driving for many years. I am in the market for a new car but i will be keeping my Honda for as long as it has wheels. I drive this vehicle 500+ miles to Arkansas from Georgia every other month and have felt very confident that I will arrive safely in a car with over 150,000 miles and counting. I am very pleased with this car.

I have over 3,000 miles on the car. Very dependable car even though Ive had 1 problem so far; the rear driver side door latch locked with the door open and the door wont close (taking it to the dealer later today). Excellent family car. Excellent mileage, over 32 mpg highway with ac and 70 mph. There is a rather large blind spot to due to the roof pillar.

  • Best car Ive ever owned (and probably ever will) - 1996 Honda Accord

My mom bought this car brand new in 1996, when I was 10 years old. This was the car I learned to drive in. It was always pretty reliable, but unfortunately the clear coat started to wear off pretty early, making the car rather ugly from the beginning. My mom handed it down to me when I was 20, and I still drive it today. Its 20 years old now as I write this in 2016, and has 311,000 miles on the odometer. Still the original engine and auto transmission. Have never even changed the head gasket. I drive it every day, and at least a few times a year it makes a 4 to 8 hour round trip to the farther parts of the state. Has literally never broken down on me, the closest it has come to that was the starter hanging up, which I changed myself with an oem rebuilt one. The AC has broken a couple times, but it wasnt too hard to get it going again. Youd think the driver seat would have to be pretty worn and uncomfortable by now, but not at all. I have the cloth seats, and its not even torn yet. Feels perfect still sitting on it. I changed all the coolant hoses in 2015 just to be safe, after one started to leak a little. I have the feeling this things not ready to die yet!

  • The Almost Perfect Car - 2004 Honda Accord

The Honda Accord has been on virtually everyones recommended list for decades and this model has just upped the ante for what it takes to compete. For the price, IMHO nothing comes close. Comfort, safety, handling, performance, room, and reliability are all topnotch.

  • Brake and navigation failure LEMON - 2003 Honda Accord

The day after I purchased my 1st new Honda Accord my brakes started grinding and skipping. Multiple repair attempts did not fix problems. The skipping brakes caused me to go into intersections and I was almost killed because of the brake failures. I have been to Honda 6 times and Honda Corporation refuses to help me. I have hired a lawyer to help me and the car is park - since it is unsafe to drive and Honda cant find the brake problem. PS the navigation unit went out so many times, Honda replaced the entire system. The Honda service people were great, but they couldnt fix my car and continue to place me in a life-threatening situation as we

  • Tries too hard to be something it isnt. - 2007 Honda Accord

After a good experience with an 02 EX V6, I expected a lot from my 07 EX V6. After 5K miles, Im a bit disappointed. The 07 is a step forward in some areas, but a step back in others. The engine is stronger, and noisier. The automatic shifts more smoothly, but less responsive. Handling has improved and theres less kickback through the wheel, but ride quality has eroded and the steering is less communicative. The 02 was roomy, with a large back seat. The 07 has comfier seats but feels cramped, especially in back. Gas mileage is equal at 23 MPG city. While the 02 was a nice blend of everything, the 07 tries to be more sports sedan than family sedan, and ultimately fails at being both.

  • Rear brakes - 2008 Honda Accord
    By -

Car rides great, good fuel mileage. My only complaint is about the rear brakes. Twice I had to replace them. The dealership service dept. Said that the rears wear out faster than the fronts. HOGWASH. Load is in the front not back. Real bad brake design pads are small. (front brakes still have lots of wear on them). WHATS UP!

  • Transmission/engine performance - 2001 Honda Accord
    By -

Ive been driving my Accord for 3 weeks now and have been generally pleased with its performance. However, I have two issues: 1) the transmission shifting is rough in the morning when the temperature is under 30 degrees. Once warmed up the transmission performs smoothly 2) the engine emits a strange refrigerator like sound when the fridge starts up. The Honda only makes this sound when the gas pedal is depressed thereby loading the engine. Back off the gas pedal and the sound goes away. I tried hi-test gas thinking the engine had engine knock but it didnt make any difference.
