This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

  • Excellent Value!! - 2006 Honda Accord

Ive only had it for a few weeks, but I am very impressed with it. I am rating reliability and fuel economy of 9 only based on Hondas reputation. I havent gotten to really test the fuel economy. Sure it wont perform like a sports car, but compared to its main competitor, the 06 camry, it blows it away in terms of style, standard features, and performance/handling. This is definitely a lot more fun to drive than the camry. The engine is quiet and the cabin is well insulated for noise. Build quality is superb, the controls feel very solid and the doors make a very satisfying whack when you close them. :) The seats are comfortable and provide solid support. I paid 18,926! Excellent value!!!

The Honda Accord has always been an excellent car. Very impressed. I drove over crappy roads and at 6400 miles I have a couple of rattles: one in the passengers door area and one in the rear panel by the back window. The 06 has a firm, sporty ride, unlike the Camrys soft ride (for grandpa!) I get a lot of compliments at work and on the street. Love the Alabaster Silver w black interior color combo....very sexy.

  • The Manual SE is one heck of a car - 2006 Honda Accord

Traded my 03 Chevy Silverado ext cab for the Accord SE, was originally looking at a new Civic, but too small in back for 3 kids. This car rocks! My wife has an 04 Accord LX and she wishes the SE would have been offered then. You are basically getting an EX for much cheaper (minus the moonroof and nav). It has 4 wheel disc brakes, fancy cloth and carbon fiber trim, etc. The stick shift makes it feel like a small race car. The changes to the exterior make the car more sporty. The changes to the interior add luxury, but not much bells and whistles like on other cars in this price range. It is an awesome car - its a Honda! Reliability, gas mileage, safety, and handling are reminders.

  • It’s all about design - 2006 Honda Accord

To me, the car just feels right – the seat (power leather), handling, road feel, I4 power. On the typical bad roads in my area, the ride is a bit harsh. Better tires than OEM Bridgestones may help. Fuel mileage is amazing for a car this size. I have not gotten less than 31 mpg and have gotten as high as 38 mpg! Who needs a hybrid?

  • My new sports car! - 2006 Honda Accord

I bought this car after driving 4 door sedans for years as a caregiver for my folks. Ive in the past, driven Hondas and always loved them..never had any reason to take them back in for any type of noises, etc. I love this care even tho Ive had it such a short time. It is very sporty...was a showroom floor model. A bit sportier, with all the bells and whistles that I really didnt need, but get many compliments on it and just having lots of fun with it. My 90 yr. old father even enjoys it!!! Would never own anything but a Honda again in the future!! I know Ill get even more enjoyment out of it this fall and winter, as Ill be able to utilize my sunroof. The stereo is awesome also!

We really enjoy the car, ride, power, economy, leather heated seat. Quality of sound system. Storage is first rate as is the surprising trunk space.

Fun to drive, the V6 makes a difference, and the 6 speed makes an even larger difference as far as control and pick up. I have had no problems with this car, but have only had it since November 05. Love it though! Gas mileage gets better and better as you drive it and I am not using premium gas, by the way. I feel this car handles very well, accelerates quickly and is really powerful!

  • EXTREMELY RELIABLE!!! BEST CAR IVE EVER OWNED! - 2006 Honda Accord

I bought this car used after totalling my 2002 toyota camry. Being a toyota guy most of my life I wanted to get a toyota again but i knew hondas are also comprable. I bought it in 2009 with 43k. Now, 8 years later at 219k I have only changed the battery and the starter. The rest has been regular maintenance (brakes, rotors, etc). Motor still runs very strong as well as the transmission. If you didnt look at the odometer you would think this car had 100k on it. If you can find a used one that was well taken care of, buy it, it doesnt have many fancy features but it wont let you down.
