This Year's Model Updates:

Honda takes a bold leap for 2005 with the introduction of the Hybrid Accord. Rather than add a hybrid motor to its four-cylinder, Honda bolts its third-generation IMA system to the Accord's already-potent V6. In one fell swoop the Accord hybrid has become the class leader in fuel economy (30 city, 38 highway) and power (255 horsepower). Other changes for the 2005 Honda Accord this year include new wheel cover designs for the LX and EX trims, a new coin pocket design, illuminated steering wheel controls and improved rear styling in sedans with redesigned taillamps. In addition, front-seat side airbags and full-length head curtain airbags are now available on all trim levels all the way down to the base DX model.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior, tight build quality, smooth ride, powerful and efficient hybrid model, good crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful.

  • Love My Car! - 2005 Honda Accord

I bought the Accord Ex-L little over a week ago and love it! I am Honda fan, but wasnt crazy about the outside design of the car. I looked at the Nissan Altima, but for everything I wanted in a car, the Altima was too much money and the Honda dealerships quote was too good to pass up. I get so many compliments on my car, friends and coworkers cant believe the features I have in my car for the price I paid. I owned a Honda for nine years with hardly having to any repairs on it. I expect the same with this new one. If youre looking for something with all the bells and whistles, look at the Accord.

Honda reliability & industry leading fit & finish, a hallmark for the 2005 Accord Sedans. Overall size is a little larger than my 93 Accord LX (@ 155k miles still going strong) which means more comfort w/outstanding European-like road manners! This Honda Accord 4 cyl. AT i-VTEC is PZEV (Partial Zero Emission vehicles) Rated/Certified, you get a car that doesnt contribute to the earths pollution! After a week of ownership (bought May 6th for $22,961 OTD) & 160 miles, I can see why Car & Driver choose the 2005 Accord as the "Best Family Sedan"!!! Fun to drive, excellent road feel, confident handling, relatively quiet (moon roof closed), w/appealing, comfortable interior and EPA 24/34 MPG!

After comparing cars in the same class I chose a Honda, and I am very happy with my choice. I like the way it handle and the v6 is very quick when you need the power. MY MILEAGE IS NOT THAT GREAT. My average is about 24 miles to a gallon hi-way only.

  • Hybrid Mileage as Promised - 2005 Honda Accord

I am getting mileage numbers similar to those claimed on the sticker, even slightly better on flat, straight stretches. All the high-tech systems work flawlessly, including the active noise-cancellation, voice recognition and awesome touch-screen navigation system. The stereo sounds great. Power is more than adequate, even superior to the Lexus IS300 that this car is replacing. The electric motor doesnt seem to kick in on start-up acceleration, but rather on full-throttle passing and moderate hill climbing, but the mileage numbers dont lie. The regenerative braking and eco mode (using 3 of the 6 cylinders) is noticeable when driving but not distracting. Electic boost works seemlessly.

  • Great car!! - 2005 Honda Accord

This is an outstanding vehicle! After doing the research, it was apparent to me that this car gives the maximum bang for your hard earned dollar. It has features you would not expect for a vehicle which costed under $29,000 (including destination, taxes and all). I added an alarm system for security and auto door locking feature when placed in gear. Great dealership experience. Another tip for those who might want daytime running lamps or auto on headlights is to keep your lights on all of the time. The auto off feature in the EX model will turn off the headlights after 5 or 10 seconds. The car has great power (240hp) and fit and finish. The Honda Nav system is second to none.

  • This is a fantastic car - 2005 Honda Accord

I love this car. Ive had it for 7 years and its my 3rd Accord. Its the newest car Ive ever owned so that does affect my perspective. However, this car is still so nice. Its amazing to me that at 11 years old, it still feels brand new. It drives amazing, has had great fuel economy, and looks great. I still get between 19-21mpg in town and 31 on the highway. I never guessed an 11 year old car could still get 30 miles to the gallon. The paint job has held up well compared to my previous accords. The only thing that had to be changed was the throttle body when the gear shift stuck. Other than that, it has been so cheap to maintain. I have put hardly any money into this car and it runs like a champ. I started with 86k miles and now have 212,000 with no problems. I would buy this car over again in a heartbeat. I hope when it dies, the new Accords are still made as well as this one.

  • Great Upgrade - 2005 Honda Accord

Decided to trade in my 2001 for the new 2005 with Nav and I am extremely happy with it. Fit and finish are near perfect and the extra 40hp is VERY nice. Better pickup and smoother/quieter cruising speed. The navigation system is worth the money. Much better than a portable unit that I used in my 2001 Accord. Voice activation is really useful/fun and just plain cool :)

  • Im Impressed!!! - 2005 Honda Accord

This is a great vehicle. Honda did there homework with this car and let me tell you it lacks in no areas. This is a luxury vechicle all the way around. Honda even thought of having the steering wheel controls light up. The car rides great and just feels very refined. Ive owned alot of vehicles in my life and none had the whole package like this car does. Do yourself a favor and test drive this car before you buy anything else. I was blown away by just everything about this car.

  • A Honda family - 2005 Honda Accord

I own a 2002 Honda Accord V-6. My wife had a 2002 BMW 225. We replaced the BMW with a Honda Accord Hybrid. So far we have had a very positive experience with the new hybrid. Our driving has been expressway/city street and we have averaged 32 plus miles per gallon. On the expressway we seem to get about 36 MPG. Love the car.
